I have an Onkyo TSR605 receiver and I hooked up the Bose 10 speakers versus the Mirage Nanostat and the Mirage satellites are much, much clearer; also my old Onkyo woofer that came with my previous Onkyo Home Theater System produces much cleaner bass than the Bose (I started to get a headache with the Bose subwoofer because it was almost always booming when it shouldnt be and it was a muddled bass instead of a clean bass). I tested both with a movie (The Incredibles) and a concert DVD (Sarah Brightman). The Mirage Nanostat is about $500 without a woofer and the Bose 10 is $1000 but even if they were the same price, the Mirage is much clearer and wont give you a headache like Boses subwoofer. For those who complain that the Mirage Nanostat center channel would be better if it pointed at you instead of the ceiling, I turned it so the speaker faced me to get a slightly louder sound but if this isnt good enough, I also hooked up the Bose center speaker and it acoustically matched the Mirage Nanostat speakers so you could always buy the Bose center speaker separately for $200. The Bose 10 speakers are going back to Best Buy tomorrow. On: 2007-12-25
I love this system! Ive had it for about 6 months now and the sound is fabulous. The bass is deep and will shake the walls, and the speakers will blast crystal clear sound even when you turn the volume up to full blast.
I read a ton of reviews on different sites that have claimed Bose is just over-hyped junk, but I can honestly say that for this price range, this is a quality system. I currently have the system hooked up to a Sony receiver that puts out 110 watts per channel, and it can get L O U D! When watching concert videos and movies, you feel like youre there.
Obviously, someone looking to design a room totally dedicated to home theater use would go with a larger, more professional setup, but for typical living room style home entertainment, this system will do the trick. On: 2007-12-24

I had bought this to be used with my new entertainment system comprising of Samsung HLT6187S 61" Slim LED Engine 1080p DLP HDTV, Sony STR-DG910 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver, Bose® Acoustimass® 10 Series IV home entertainment speaker system, Pioneer DV-400V HDMI Multi Region DVD Player, Rocketfish Universal Wireless Rear Speaker Kit and a custom HTPC.
The speakers are Bose satellite speakers. So they are very small, but they deliver excellent sound quality. You can swivel the top speaker to bounce the sound off walls to customize the feel you want for surround sound.
All connections are made from the massive sub woofer which then connects to your A/V Receiver. Too quite a bit of work to get this all working, but it was worth it in the end.
The speaker cable lengths are incredible. A little too long for what I needed. I ended up shortening and binding up more than 70% of the cable just so that I wouldnt have a crazy mess behind and around my HDTV.
If you plan on getting this system, save your self the trouble of dealing with cable mess and buy some Velcro straps for cable management.
This system works perfect with the Rocketfish Wireless speaker set.
The sub woofer is so powerful, at highest volume it shakes the entire house. You can feel the vibrations in the ground at the other end of the house.
Not much else to say. Setup was painless, just took some time, lots of cables going around.
Remember that the speakers are satellite speakers, if you get speaker stands, be sure they work with and fit with the satellite speakers.
Before buying this sound system, do your research and make sure you buy the right equipment! On: 2007-09-12
I spent considerable time researching and visiting places I could hear what I wanted from a sound system. The BOSE Acoustamass 10 series IV Home Entertainment System was, by my understanding the best there is; but, I wondered whether that was hype and the publicity machine doing what it was supposed to do. I also purchased a Pioneer VSX-82TXS-S ELITE Receiver to compliment and complete my sound system. (The list price is $1200 but you can use this site and get it for $800)Well,I bit the bullet and made the decision to buy the BOSE Accoustamas: WOW, it surpassed all my expectations and any doubts I had about the hype were blown away. This system is fantastic in every way, easy to set up and add to the receiver. The quality of the reproduction is superb in all areas of sound reproduction from listening to a movie on THX to a song. You will not be disappointed in this product. It looks good, not intrusive and the price is worth every $.I would most certainly recommend that you also invest in a quality receiver to go with BOSE. Again buy this, you will not be disappointed. (A note: I wanted to put my rear speakers on a stand and I found the BOSE stand to be too short for my location, but, you can shop around and get a stand of the same quality which gives you a little more height).
