Stay away from this battery hog     On: 2008-06-23

I purchased the camera over a year ago and have been living (dont ask me why) with dismal battery life problems since day one. Youre lucky to get 10 pictures out of the two AAs. I called service and they told me for $25 to $50 they would diagnose the problem and update the camera to fix the battery drain problem, which they know about!!! Why did I wait for the warranty to run out????? Stupid.... Its my last Fuji, I guarantee you that.
Not the best digital camera     On: 2008-03-23

This camera takes nice pictures; however, the battery life is not that great and not too many other batteries are compatible with it. Im not too happy about that. Also, the software is not working with my laptop, therefore, I have been unable to share pictures with others.

Hope your experience is better than mine!
Terrible and Horrible Customer Service!!!     On: 2007-12-24

The camera is fine as long as nothing goes wrong. Fuji has the worst customer service I have ever delt with. They pass you from one person to another and do everything they can not to help you. Be prepared to deal with the worst customer service in the business. I really hope this helps you.
Good camera with good price     On: 2007-11-15

Ive had this camera for about 1 year. The worst part is it eats batteries but I think most cameras do. I solved the problem by buying rechargeable batteries. Also, they give you hardly any memory so you will have to buy memory as well. It is worth it though because the camera is small but not too small, I can carry it in my purse with no problem. What I really like about this camera is the large screen on the back, the picture quality is very good, it gives 60 second video and when you play the video back on the camera you get the sound as well. I dont need to carry a camcorder around anymore-just my camera. It also comes with plugs, you can put one end in the camera and the other end right into your tv and view pics and videos. I really like this camera!
The Fujifilm Battery Eating Machine     On: 2007-10-17

I tried this camera because it enables you to select your own ISO level of 100, 200, or 400, rather than just "trust" the camera. However, in the course of shooting about 200 photos, half with flash, I went through five sets of AA, batteries. After just about 20 flash shots, the "low battery" warning would come on, and after about 30 flash photos, the camera would go "dead".

However, when I placed those "dead" AA batteries in my Fujifilm S5700, THAT camera worked fine. So, the problem is a defective power management circuit that demands batteries that are at 100% of their full charge to function. A freshly charged set of rechargeables (charged to about 95% of capacity) lasted just ten shots, yet went on to work fine in the Fujifilm S5700.

After "Googling" around the internet, I found dozens of complaints about the extremely short battery life of the A700, even from folks who otherwise were reasonably satisfied with its performance.

The Finepix A700 took nice photos outside, and good photos with NO flash indoors with the ISO 400 setting in rooms that had sunlight coming through the windows.

The flash photos were too washed out if the subject was two feet to four feet from the camera, using the wide-angle setting, and were too dark at six feet to eight feet with the tele-photo. The WORST flash performance Ive seen from any digital camera.

Photos of brick wall, taken at five feet at a wide angle setting showed lots of distortion in the corners, with the right side corners being much more distorted than the left side corners.

This camera would be acceptable for someone who only shots five or ten photos per month, and never uses the flash. For that sort of use, the short battery life and poor flash performance would not matter. But, the photos from a $5 "throw-a-way" camera are just as good, for outdoor photos, and a $5 disposible camera would last for a full 40 flash photos, not just 20 or 30.

I think the Fujifilm company ought to recall the A700 and give its owners a "coupon" they can use to buy one of the many terrific cameras sold by Fujifilm, such as the S700 and the S5700.

Love this camera     On: 2007-07-14

This camera is just the right size to keep in your purse at all times.
The pictures are great quality and there is almost no lag time between pictures.
That was very important to me.
I definatly recomend this camera!
Not a great camera     On: 2007-06-07

This camera takes beautiful pictures in perfect light. I have no complaints about the pictures that I took outside. They were very clear and bright. But, if there isnt perfect light, the pics showed up extremely grainy. The pictures that I took inside my house came up so grainy, that they looked like they were taken from a disposable camera. I have since returned this camera.
A great buy!     On: 2007-05-25

This camera is a wonderful buy! If you are looking for a point and shoot type of camera, this is definitely the one to pick. The pictures come out looking amazing with the 7.1 megapixel advantage! The size of the camera is very convenient, and with a memory card you can take quality pictures for a very long time. Make sure you have back-up batteries with you because there isnt much warning when it gets low. For the price this is definitely a steal!
Great little camera!     On: 2007-05-17

I bought this camera to replace my old fujifilm 3 megapixel. The menu is almost exactly the same... a plus! Nice and small with a big viewing screen. Really good zoom too! The picture quality is awesome and its easy to navigate and choose different functions. I really love it! Im just an average jane with the digital camera and dont need all kinds of fancy things. If you need a good basic camera, this is it.

I highly recommend getting a memory card. The in camera memory doesnt hold too many pictures. I bought a 1GB card at best buy on sale for $20 and it hold 400 pics at the highest quality picture. You really need this.

Great camera!
miss the viewfinder     On: 2007-05-12

As a 50 something buyer who needs reading glasses only, a wiewfinder would facilitate my photography skills. This is a nice litte camera, add a viewfinder, and it would be perfect.
Nice camara     On: 2007-05-07

So far, I love this camara. Very easy to use and the quality of the picture for point and shoot pictures is great for a camara that is priced so low. I am very pleased.
Great product for the right price     On: 2007-04-10

This is a great camera. I bought this one to replace my old finepix that had been ruined by a spilled coke. Very easy to use, and the video feature is great. My old camera had this feature, but no sound. It is so neat to be able to take small videos of our new baby and email them to my folks who live half the country away. We love this camera!
Finepix camera     On: 2007-03-16

I have used Finepix for several years now and am pleased, the new 7.3 MP is a wonderful choice especially if you want to enlarge your photos without losing quality.
Was received in a timely manner, Im exremely happy with my new camera and your quick service
Best decision I've ever made!     On: 2007-02-10

I bought this camera about 2 weeks ago. First of all, I definitely have to say that the pice cannot possibly be beat! Second, the LCD screen is huge!! Ive boughten myself a few digital cameras over the years, and am more than content with what Ive got now. The picture resolution is amazing, the image stabilization is outstanding! This camera has so many features, and if you buy brand new, you also get the software and all cables too. The software in itself is a huge plus because it allows you to touch up your photos, add and take away from your photos and so on. Basically lets you do the same as Adobe photoshop deluxe lets you do, but without having to pay an additional 50 dollars or more. I definitely recommend this camera to people of all ages who want a good camera to take excellent quality snapshots.
Great budget camera     On: 2007-01-29

This is a good digital camera to buy if youre on a bit of a budget. I liked how the features were well layed out and easy to use. An overall pretty basic digital camera without all those extra features you probably dont need unless youre a professional photographer. The only things I didnt like about this camera was 1. It goes thru batterys way to fast. So I recommend either buying rechargeable batterys or those expensive longer life batterys. 2. The zoom functions werent very good and sometimes make pictures look grainy. If youre looking for a starter camera or simply just want something affordable, id recommend the Fujifilm Finepix A700 camera.
Given as a gift and great so far     On: 2007-01-20

I got this camera for my brother for Christmas. He has used it on several occasions, including my wedding. I got to take a few pictures with it also, and it seemed to do a great job. I was deciding between this camera and the A400 last month, but after checking both of them out, this one is definitely worth the little extra cost (I got it on sale). My guess is that the A400 is on the way out of the product line, being that the only major differences besides the added megapixels with this camera, is that Fuji has gotten rid of the small viewfinder, which seems to be relatively unused on pocket cameras such as these. That deletion from the camera gave Fuji more room to make the already large monitor a little bigger. If your looking for a small-sized camera this seems to be a winner.
A700 is awesome     On: 2007-01-19

I bought this camera over the holidays as a present for my wife. Got it at a great price too!! If you are looking for a no fuss camera the Fujifilm Finepix A700 is an excellent choice, and its 7.3MP. It gets 4 stars because of the very limited storage space on the camera itself.
OK camera     On: 2007-01-16

Good entry level camera, takes OK pictures, and was cost competitive. Since cameras will get better and faster, you are just buying time anyway.
Great Value     On: 2007-01-16

Low noise, clean CCD panel in this inexpensive rig. I bought this for my college-bound son and Ive been very impressed with the quality of the results. Im a serious photographer and darkroom enthusiast and Ive been concerned about the mediocre results from affordable digital P&Ss. After some research, I decided to give the A700 a try via my son and it stands up to the reviews very well. Get a large memory card and run it at maximum res and you should be very pleased with the typical-duty snapshot results you get from the Fuji.
Value priced but lacking in quality.     On: 2007-01-05

I just returned my A700 after trying it out for two weeks. The reason for the return was the quality of pictures. The pictures are o.k. at best but for most of the them they were too grainy. I adjusted all the settings and maximized them for the best picture quality. The image quality was not there. My older Olympus 3.5MP camera produced better images than the A700.

Although I read some of the reviews and the overall rating for this camera was low, I was still inclined to pick it up based on the camera specs and the low price. I learned my lesson as most of the reviews and overall ratings are a good marker to go by.

I picked up the Canon PowerShot SD600 which was a little more but well worth it!

Pros:
Price
7.3MP Camera
Nice sturdy compact design
Easy menu interface

Cons:
Picture resolution
Video resolution
Video recording lengths
A dissapointment     On: 2006-12-24

Well, I have a FinePix A345 that Ive had for over a year now. I wanted to upgrade to another Fuji camera because the pictures I got from my A345 were absolutely marvelous. Under low light, the photos were just untouchable in quality. Granted, focusing in low light can be difficult, and shake is a problem, but still, the photos were fantastic. In fact, I NEVER use the flash on my camera as I never need it unless the subject is backlit. Anyway, I thought the 7.3 Megapixel Fuji would be the answer and I just returned it to the store I bought it from (not Amazon). The pictures were cold, grainy, and just plain terrible. I fear its because of the new feature theyve started putting on their digital cameras where you can chose you ISO setting? Im an amateur, not a professional photographer, so I really dont understand why you would need film speed setting options on a digital camera. I tried taking the same types of photos that my A345 took and they just didnt come out. The A700 seemed to compensate for the lack of lighting by making the entire photo dark. Or, if there was some light in the background, the foreground would be black. There was no ambient lighting as there was in my A345. Plus, the photos were just cold and didnt have the warmth of the A345. I was severely dissapointed with this camera. I wanted to stick with Fuji from my prior experience with the A345 and my experience with Canon, Kodak, and Sony gave me results that equaled the terrible ones I got from the A700. I might try the A470 next.
Great little Camera     On: 2006-12-02

This is a point shoot Nice clear pictures easy to use out of the box. But dont expect much out of the 99 cent AA batteries they give you.I downloaded the Manual before the camera arrived so i would know what controls to use. While this camera is not packed with features (its one reason i bought it) many cameras just stack on useless stuff average point shooter camera will never see used. For price they should have included say a 128 meg XD card but other than that i love the camera so far..
Video Clips are limited to 60 seconds     On: 2006-11-18

Another Fuji suprise. Most new cameras do not have a limit on videos other than the amount of storage on the xD chip. Nice camera other than that BAD limitation.
