Craptastic!     On: 2008-07-07

Bought this for a friend only to find out in months time the battery
doesnt charge right!
When I informed Amazon and the seller who sold it to me they refused to do anything about it.
They suck dont trust them and get stuck with a malfunctioning I-pod.
the best mp3 player for running and workouts     On: 2008-07-06

If you like music when you workout, this is the player for you. Its VERY small, so its easy to clip onto your shirt or hat. No need for the armband or any of the extras.

Controls are simple. If you have iTunes, getting music on and off is simple. And even the 1GB is enough for 250 songs, which is plenty to keep most people entertained.

Sure, it doesnt have some of the features as other players. No screen, no FM radio, no voice recorder. But it has what I need, which is great for me.

Headphones, like the rest of the ipod headphones, are no good. Invest a few bucks there and youve got a winner.

Bottom line-- I love this thing. In fact, I have pretty much stopped using my iPod Classic since this handles everything I need so well.
Ipod     On: 2008-07-06

This Ipod came SUPER-FAST! I like to use it while running. The clip stays tight and is very convenient. Holds a good charge and comes with everything needed to start playing music right away. Would have been five stars, but it can be purchased pretty much everywhere for the same price.
Ipod as fashion accessory     On: 2008-07-04

For my wifes birthday, I got her a purple Ipod Shuffle (1 gb) and gave her my Grado SR 60 headphones for stationary listening (the stock ear buds are for on the go--we do need something better, though). She loves the Shuffle. It is tiny, clips on to a shirt pocket or collar, and holds a lot of tunes. As many are now eschewing full length CDs for downloaded singles, one can pick just the songs that one desires. Nice. In an informal survey in one of my classes, almost all of my students preferred downloading what songs they wanted and had pretty much stopped purchasing regular cds. I still buy cds--regular and SACD--but Im used to buying albums, not singles (okay, when I was a kid, I used to buy 45s).

The Ipod shuffle is easy to use. It is highly portable and small. The sound is adequate. One could use a headphone amplifier and better headphones, but that just takes away from the portability. The Shuffle sounds pretty good with Grado SR 60 cans (but they are big and the cord is rather too robust). Anyway, my wife is happy (and thus, so am I).

You cant go wrong with the Ipod Shuffle. It looks good, sounds good, and is easy to use. Now, I just wish that I had sprung for the 2 gb version. Cest la vie.
Great Little Ipod     On: 2008-07-02

Its Great for an Ipod this Small, If you need to do exercise, this is the ipod for you.
Was it Amazon or Apple's fault?     On: 2008-06-27

Let me first say that I love this shuffle - it is perfect for moving around the house or taking a walk while being able to listen to tunes or podcasts. Sure, it doesnt hold as many songs as the big guys but for my use its great. And when I get tired of the songs I am listening to, then I just go on to itunes and change them. No muss, no fuss.

The problem (and hence the 3 stars) was because the battery wasnt holding a charge even when I turned it off. Sometimes I only use it once a week and everytime I went to use it, the battery was dead. So I phoned Apple and their customer service is most excellent. They said that the battery should be holding its charge and they would send me a new one. They put a hold-charge on my credit card for the new one and once I returned the old one, they would cancel the charge. They sent the new one within a couple days with an easy return envelope (they paid all the shipping). Havent had a problem yet with the new one but I have only had for a few days. Question is: does Amazon sell inferior products or was this just a fluke?
Great & cheap way to listen to your tunes!     On: 2008-06-27

I bought the Shuffle after I lost my regular Ipod. I didnt want to pay 250$ again, so I got the 1 GB for 50$. Ok it sucks that it doesnt have a display screen for song names, but for that little money, its a winner, especially that you can put all of the music you bought from iTunes. The sound quality is good, its tiny so you can just put it in your pocket without feeling it, and you can clip it onto your clothes during your workout.
Shuffle     On: 2008-06-26

I love the shuffle. I gave it to my husband for a gift because he is technically challenged and it is perfect for him.
iPod Shuffle 1GB (2nd Generation)     On: 2008-06-23

Great little product that you can tuck into any pocket. It holds enough music for me to listen to. I just wish it included the accessory to hook up to my car too, but for the price, Im not expecting much. It works for me!
Great for travel with Podcasts     On: 2008-06-21

very happy with my ipod shuffle     On: 2008-06-20

I put 280 of my christian songs in the shuffle and I still have room for
more.Great little device though ear buds a bit tinny. Fixed that with some bass enhanced ear buds.
Small wonder     On: 2008-06-20

This player cant be beat for its specific purpose--to be light, reliable, and easy to use. And the capacity is more than adequate with the choice of 1 or 2 GB. Other devices are competitive in price or capacity, but if you are already buying music through iTunes, this is the choice for active use.
Shuffle on out of here...     On: 2008-06-20

I didnt buy this but got it free with a class. I looked at it awhile and thought about selling it on Ebay and then decided to open it. I mean, I have two 2 gig mp3 players, an 8 gig, a 1 gig, plus an old old 15 gig original IPOD. So I need another one like I need another remote control for something.

First of all, before the kudos, I will never buy anything ever again made by the Apple Corporation if I can get out of it. They are an elitist, over-rated, snotty company that makes nice-looking stuff that is ridiculously over priced on the romance of first release....(Um, did you buy one of the first IPhones? Did you wait in line and pay full price? You disagree with me?)

I plugged this little purple square IPOD into my aluminum G4, and guess what? It wont work with a 2000 dollar aluminum G4 laptop unless I

1) Upgrade my memory ($300)
2)Upgrade my X operating system ($149)

Total Cost to plug in a free IPOD Shuffle into a 2002 G4 Powerbook: $449.00

So in order to get my cute little free IPOD shuffle to work on my APPLE thats what I would have to do. What a joke. (Apple cares about its historical client base, doesnt it? Come on... there is a reason they have such a minuscule PC base...)

So no problem however, I just plugged in my bought off Ebay $158.00 dollar Pentium II 1997 laptop running windows XP and of course the latest greatest IPOD will work with this machine running 128k memory etc.

There are only two commendable aspects of this postage stamp-sized mp3 player. It is tiny and it clips onto your shirt. I commend Apple for providing a clip. While it is no more innovative than a hundred year old tie-clip, they put it on a sensible device. Sansa and Creative should follow suit. (Of course, the lame ear buds that came with this Shuffle have too short a cord to put in your pocket, so you even HAVE to use the clip!)

As for the user experience? Itunes is a joke but its all you can use with the Shuffle. No drag and drop of mp3s outside of Itunes? And they are a smart company?

The IPOD Shuffle is not even worth $49.00. No screen. Proprietary. Loading files through Itunes is about as rewarding of a user experience as Windows 3.1 File manager.

I wouldnt recommend this even to the snobbiest Luddite educator in Manhattan.

My son loves it!     On: 2008-06-19

I bought this as a gift for my son (hes been wanting one for quite a while) and he loves it! He has downloaded tunes from I-tunes as well as from CDs we have at home. I have not used it myself, so dont know how easy the controls are, but he hasnt had any difficulties.
ipod shuffle     On: 2008-06-19

great little ipod.....holds about 240 songs which is plenty for what it is used for. Difficulty figuring the loading at first, but that is because we were trying to make it harder than it was. I would buy this again in an instant.
Apple ipod - shipping date changed     On: 2008-06-19

Product was fine. Delivery date was changed after order was placed and arrived too late for the event it was needed. Had I known this upfront, I would have gone to my local Apple store and purchased it there.
Uncomfortable head set     On: 2008-06-18

I liked the IPOD,very easy to use and operate but I was very disappointed in the head set. They are very uncomfortable. I was surprised that Apple missed that part. I would recommend the IPOD but buy another head set to go with it.
Good iPod, But iTunes Could Be Better     On: 2008-06-17

I bought this shuffle because I was amazed at how small it was. The sound from this little device is very good, although it doesnt have as good of bass or depth of clarity as a portable CD player has. The standard bit rate recommended for the shuffle is 128 kilobytes/second. But me being the audiophile that I am, 128 kbps is not good enough. I used Windows media player to rip my CDs at 1,411 kbps(WAVE files), which the shuffle supports, and then I imported the files into iTunes. I went to all the trouble of naming each individual song file and importing them, but when I thought I had imported them, iTunes came up with an error popup window randomly on random songs saying that the file was lost, when I tried to sync them to the shuffle(some ended up on the iPod.) I got so frustrated because I had spent so much time on it, and it seemed like iTunes was just deleting my files from my iTunes library randomly and sometimes the same song over and over again. I am sure that if you are happy with 128-320 kbps that iTunes allows when you directly rip to it, the shuffle works perfectly fine, but all you audiophiles out there, beware!

I bought the ipod shuffle and it was a great buy, if i needed another one i would purchase one from Amazon.com. It arrived quickly, and the price was excellant!!
A gift that can be appreciated by people of all ages     On: 2008-06-14

This is a well designed product:
- small size
- light weight
- durable
- nice earphones
- easily clipable to clothing
- buttons simple enough for the less tech savy
- holds plenty of songs (though even 200 starts to feel a little small)
- MOST IMPORTANTLY: this is a gift that is appreciated by people of all ages! Once you load the right music, this is a perfect music player gift.

Issues:
- no way to swap between playlists. But this is a minor issue and support for this would probably sacrifice the devices simplicity.
- for those who dont always have access to computers or travel a lot, I recommend you by a USB wall charger (I bought the Coby CA-80: a bit large but it does the job)

Enjoy!

Handy little no frills hands-free device     On: 2008-06-13

I use my shuffle mostly when cleaning house, working out in the garden, mowing the lawn (a 3 hour task), and occasionally when relaxing after my chores are done. The 2 GB capability is more than enough for my average music needs and the handy clip feature allows me to tuck the shuffle safely inside my clothing (yes, to my bra) away from dust and dirt. I am able to work outside most of the day for several days with no battery shortages. After a few hours of wear, the ear buds become uncomfortable, also they do not block out the noise of the mower. I solved this by purchasing a bud designed to fit comfortably in smaller ears, which also allows me to listen to music when mowing.

The sound quality is excellent and installing music from my itunes was a breeze. There is no display screen or menu, but those are frills I would not use enough to consider paying extra money for. The 2 GB Shuffle is perfect for my needs.
great product     On: 2008-06-13

works really well and the sound is great. This is my first ipod because I thought I was to old (60)to learn something new but turns out, it was a lot easier than I thought! I have had many hours of enjoyment picking out my oldies music. I would recommend it for anyone young or old!
The 2 Gig. Twice the Storage in Case You Need It.     On: 2008-06-12

Ive long thought about buying an iPod, but the price always held me back. When Apple recently lowered the price of the shuffle, I jumped. But I did spend a little extra and buy the 2 GB model. I mean, for $20 more, who wouldnt?

This model actually allows you to input 1.89 Gigs of music. Why the difference? Because the iPod needs some space for the software. Depending on the size of the songs, that translates to roughly 500 songs. The first time around, I got 498 songs on it, and I had three 11 minutes song included. I just reloaded and got 528 songs on. I did use a different computer (although it had to erase everything because it only connects with one computer at a time), but it looked like it grabbed shorter songs this time.

The iPod comes with everything you need to get started. Youve got the device itself, the ear bud headphones, and the docking device. You use this device to connect your iPod to your computer. While connected, you can load songs from iTunes and charge the device.

And thats one of the weaknesses of the device (and Apple in general). You can only load songs from their music player. Fortunately, anyone can download iTunes from Apple for free, so that isnt an issue. But it would be nice if it worked with other programs. Additionally, you must plug it into a computer to charge it.

Loading songs is pretty straight forward. You can either create a play list for it to load or have it load up random songs.

The device is small and lightweight. But what I love is the build in clip that allows you to attach it to any article of clothing. I bought it mainly to use while running or working out. Its perfect for that. Just clip it and forget about it. And, at half an ounce, it is so lightweight you dont even notice it.

The controls are well laid out and easy and obvious to use.

My biggest complaint is one I knew I would have before I bought it. If youve put one song on the iPod and decide that is the one you really want to hear, good luck finding it. There is no screen. You can tell it to play in shuffle or in playlist order. But you have to skip tons of songs to find the one you want.

The battery lasts about 12 hours. And with 500 songs, you get over 30 hours of music. So you really dont need all those songs since you could just pick different songs every time you charge it. The only time it indicates battery strength is when you first turn it one, which seems strange. If you dont check as soon as you turn it off, you might turn it on some time to find it is out of juice.

I also wish the noise level was standardized. I have to adjust the volume on practically every song.

So do you really need the added storage capacity of the 2 GB model? Thats for you to decide. But if you just want something to play a few random songs for you while you do other things, this is a great model to get.
Ipod purchase     On: 2008-06-12

As expected; recent on timely basis and in perfect condition. Also purchased wall plug-in charger for iPod.
I love my ipod     On: 2008-06-12

I love my purple Apple ipod. It works great. It is so easy to use. The sound is great.
Mother's Day Gift     On: 2008-06-09

I bought this for my Mom for a Mothers Day gift, she loved it and said it works great.
A dream device     On: 2008-06-09

This little ipod has made life more enjoyable. I already own a 20gb ipod that worked well, but I was tired of carrying that brick around... especially at the gym. The shuffle is so light it clips on my clothes and I cant feel its weight. Only drawback that I can think of is the connection would not allow to use it with some FM transceivers in the car. Wonderful technology for $50.
Its only downfall is iTunes.     On: 2008-06-08

The functionality of this small player away from the computer is great... Strong battery life, simple buttons, built in clip, econimical size, etc. However, the fact that you must se iTunes with this player only decreases its overall value. iTunes certainly is much slower than the drag and drop feature that Creative Labs uses and can also be much less user-friendly.
great workout companion     On: 2008-06-04

This is my first Ipod, it is great to be able to have all the songs you love to workout with. It is such a small and easy to use music device, I ride a bike alot and the sound is great!!!! I highly recommend this.
ipod shuffle     On: 2008-06-03

This thing is soooo handy. Its uber light and holds a totally decent amount of tunes, especially if you use it for short term things like running or cycling. Obviously you wont use this for transatlantic plane rides since the battery only goes for a few hours, but its a solid supplement to your regular ipod. Definintely worth the 40 dollars.
Excellent iPod for the new user     On: 2008-06-03

I bought this for my 9 year old son for his birthday. It is so simple to use and he LOVES it. This is his first iPod and I was glad I started with this one. Great Investment.
I love this thing!     On: 2008-05-29

It is so easy to download your own music and where the controls are located is easy to use while running. I just love it! Its so lightweight its incredible!
it is wonderful     On: 2008-05-28

i love my shuffle. i used to use my 80 g ipod classic when i walked my dogs but it was always in my way.(even with an arm band, the headphone cord) the shuffle is perfect. great sound, small, clips onto anything. stays out of my way when i have to bend over and still hold onto two dogs. would never give up my classic but for walking the dogs this is perfect especially at this price
Best iPod value     On: 2008-05-27

I have a regular 40GB iPod, but only about 10GB of songs, and only really listen to about 2GB of them on a regular basis. The regular iPod is therefore a waste for me, uses more batteries, is heavier/bigger, and generally overkill.

I wanted something for my runs, and my old shuffle (which I didnt really like) broke, so I thought I would try this new one as my wife has one and likes it.

This design is superior, the built in clip negates any need for an armband like the old design needed, and it is so small and light you dont even know it is there.

The battery life on it is fantastic - I use it for my walks to and from work each morning, on my runs, and at night when I play poker - and it still lasts about three days for me on a single charge.

I dont use the headphones that come with it, so I dont know if they are any good, and there are some odd volume issues with the unit when you first start it up (that might be a settings issue that Im not aware of - it starts off very low) - but otherwise perfect.

If you dont like listening to the same music over and over, dont care about video, dont care about seeing the song details - then the iPod Shuffle is all you need - and it is inexpensive too - get one.
what I expected     On: 2008-05-24

Its what I expected. Not a fan of itunes, but was aware of the product before getting it. Shipping was extremely fast and it came in good condition.
Great for jogging and the gym     On: 2008-05-22

Ive owned an ipod classic for four years but given the shuffle last Christmas, and love it. Im amazed at how light it is and the built in clip really keeps the shuffle in place. Ive found myself listening to music not only while at the gym but walking to the gym, walking and taking the train to work, when Im waiting at the airport or even while waiting for things like the barber or doctor. Its just so easy to take with me and slip in my jacket or pants pocket when Im not using it. One minor qualm the headphones, while comfortable and easy to keep in place dont provide the best sound quality. When I travel or commute I generally use my bose noise canceling headphones which provide a much better sound especially for bass. However my bose headphones are four times as expensive as the shuffle so Im not complaining much.
I love my iPod shuffle!!!!!     On: 2008-05-20

Sounds great and is PERFECT for exercising! Just clip it to your clothes, and you dont even know its there. Dont have anything bad to say about it...EXCEPT...I wish it had a radio! But I guess that would only make it bigger!
Shuffles are just cool and inexpensive, buy one!     On: 2008-05-18

First off let me say that I purchased shuffles, yes multiple, not for music. Podcasts, speeches and talking books are the reason I own shuffles. The newest generation of shuffles has made it even easier to share audio info with colleagues.

It is really cool. Now when I find a topic on a podcast or a great speech, I can share it with the people that I work with. They can vote for relevance on the topic and we can discuss how to use the information.

I have used the shuffle for music too. I really like the size of the new gen and the quality of sound is very good. An updated set of buds will change the experience altogether.

Nothing, is as cool as a shuffle. Buy one, you wont be disappointed.

Comments are welcome as always.
nice mp3 player     On: 2008-05-18

It is a little device, but works really good.
Battery life good, size good, weight good, not a bad thing to say.
Ipod Shuffle for running     On: 2008-05-17

I had an Ipod Shuffle (original white) and found it to be a good running companion. So, when the new model came out which was even smaller, I couldnt wait to get one. They are both excellent players. However, I do have one complaint with the new model: Apple has shortened the length of the ear bud wire. So, I have had to take the old ear buds and use them w/ the new Ipod.
Best player for the gym     On: 2008-05-17

I other mp3 player is a PSP which i could not use while I am working out because its too heavy n big. So I wanted a player which is small and light and can be hooked up anywhere. Ipod shuffle fit my need perfectly. the quality of the product is also awesome. I use ipod for about 2-3 hours a day and the battery lasts for almost a week..I havent found any pain points yet..but as expected, the standard headphones were crappy..go for some good after-market headphones..i suggest V-Moda base freq headphones if u r a base lover.
AMAZING IPODS     On: 2008-05-17

I LOVE iPODS! Have the 5th Gen Video, 2 8GB Nanos 2nd Gen and 2 Shuffles 3rd Gen. This little "mighty mite" has an amazingly long battery life & at 1 gb or 240 songs, doesnt really need screen display and categorization. It is so tiny and easy to wear either hidden or displayed. I usually sleep "in mine" - it runs all nite for 2 nights without recharge (16 - 24 hours!). My 5th Gen Video is good for 6 hours MAX and I never watch or have videos on it, just music. My 2 8GB Nanos get a good 12 hours each. I knew of someone who had 5 shuffles -- one for each category of music, i.e., country, classical, pop etc. you get the idea. I got my last one from Amazon for a GREAT price in the color I wanted and it was SHIPPED quickly in PERFECTLY NEW CONDITION. Dont hesitate, they are fantastic, simple to use and so worth the money. 5 STARS
Great while gardening and walking     On: 2008-05-16

Very happy with my Shuffle. It is lightweight and easy to use. Buying songs on iTunes is simple and lots of fun.
it's great--very convenient     On: 2008-05-15

I had originally ordered an apple ipod from somewhere else-with a screen and a greater memory, but it did not work. This was the replacement ipod, and it seems to work just fine, has sufficient capabilities for my needs, is much cheaper, and is like wearing a microphone-nice and light.
Elegant! The Mini-Cooper of MP3 players     On: 2008-05-15

I got it for my wife, and it easier to use than the iPod, holds its charge, and with room for 200+ songs, is perfect for the gym.
Very good     On: 2008-05-14

The iPod shuffle is great. it is so tiny, it plays/sounds great.
Easy to use and put music on it and not expensive.
The clip works excellant and the ear plugs stay in the ears.
wow     On: 2008-05-13

I use this mainly for working out. Sound quality is good, and the size, well you cant beat it. Not really a fan of iTunes, but I can deal with it.

small,convenient, sounds great     On: 2008-05-12

I have all kinds of ipods. take it for exercising and walking. Sound is on a par with other pods. It holds 500 songs,is east to use and it seems durable. One thing Itunes a little tricky to use, had to call my son for help--the student now teaches the master, oh well. Strong recommendation. Amazon is a breeze to deal with. Ken

can't figure this Ipod Shuffle out     On: 2008-05-11

Apple IPOD Shuffle 1     On: 2008-05-11

The Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Lime Green (2nd Generation) is a little small for my taste but the capabilities are good for such a small items. Over all ist a really great mp3 player that is small, convient and works well. For a flashed based player it works well.
Small, Simple, and Reliable     On: 2008-05-08

The ipod shuffle is definitely the ipod for someone on a budget, and that I am! But it makes it very easy to download and sync music and the digital media doesnt skip like a CD would. It can be taken jogging, skating, hiking, most anywhere. Unlike some of the newer, bigger ipods, the shuffle is reliable. Ive seen many of my friends 80GB ipods go dead in a matter of weeks for no reason. The sound quality really depends on the digital media you put onto it, but the headphones are nice and loud. Its a great purchase.
Perfect Fit     On: 2008-05-08

I resisted buying an MP3 player for some time but now that I have mine I love it. Its easy to use, no signal loss to worry about, holds more music than I would listen to at one time, and easily goes anywhere. I enjoy being able to listen to only the music I want to hear and the clarity. Its simplicity at its best, ideal for my purposes.
Not Apple's Best     On: 2008-05-08

I was very satisfied with Amazon as a seller, but very disappointed with Apples I-Pod Shuffle. At best, the instructions were mediocre. It worked fine when I loaded it with my first selection of music - sound quality was very good. The next day when I tried to load a new playlist, indications were that it loaded onto the Shuffle, but I could not get it to play music after that. I followed the online troubeshooting steps a few times without success. I returned the item to Amazon, following their excellent instructions, and my credit was confirmed. A week later I received a very similar MP3 player as a free gift from an office supplier. It is almost identical to the I-Pod Shuffle, the instructions were worse, but e-mail tech support was available and with a few small hurdles, it is perfoming very well. Apple, as well as other companies should be sure that the staff who write instructions understand the product thoroughly and also have a superb command of written English language.
stupid MP3     On: 2008-05-06

I will say people who like this one are Apple lovers or have simple brains.
This one is durable and has long lasting battery, but all you can do is listening the musci from the beggining to the end. Thats it.
I forgot, you can stop and pause music too.
If you think this is good because of low price, then YP U3 might be better.
I adore my ipod shuffle!!!!     On: 2008-05-04

I received my ipod before I went into surgery! It was loaded with all my celtic music and soothing songs I know!!! The sound was great. It was easy to have near me! I couldnt have been more happy with it!!!
My honest opinion? Get one!!!!
Apple iPod shuffle 1GB How sweet it is!     On: 2008-05-02

Just love my iPod shuffle, great sounding and so easy to use, I purchased the iPod so I would enjoy my music while walking my routine and listen to it at the beach, pool, were ever I go. Best purchase I have made in quite a while. Whats the best part, you can download your own music, from CDs, etc. which I have, and being a senior believe me I have a lot of oldies and newies too!
ilike ipod     On: 2008-04-30

All I needed was something with no moving parts to play the same dozen or so songs over and over for relaxation. Im hoping that it will last a long time. So far, its working fine.

it on time gives and to the product this in good state, asi that all good
Great product     On: 2008-04-29

I all ready have a larger ipod, but this one is perfect for taking on bike trips or hiking. I hate to take my more expensive ipod with me on trips. This one fits neatly in a pocket and has great playing time. I have used it for 6 to 8 hours and it just keeps going. For the price and how well it works, I would recommend this mp3 player.
Can't beat the value!     On: 2008-04-29

I couldnt pass down this offer, and Im glad that I didnt. It was shipped promptly and was pleased with my ipod shuffle when I got it.
Razima rocks with iPod shuffle!!!     On: 2008-04-28

Sync sucks! And all other features rock!! It could be great if it had a display. Amazons ship reached the shore on time.
iPod Shuffle 2nd generation - Nice!     On: 2008-04-27

I originally gave the second generation only two stars due to the pesky "cannot sync" problem, but once I discovered the scroll bar under the settings tab on iTunes, my problem was solved. Now my iPod shuffle is working perfectly and the tiny size is great for clipping to my shirt while running. It is very light and easy to wear. Still cant keep the earbuds in my ears but I guess that isnt uncommon.
Great product, perfect for the gym and runs     On: 2008-04-27

This iPod is awesome for when you dont have pockets or just dont feel like carrying a bigger iPod around. It holds about 250 songs so you have a good variety for a week or so before you have to switch the songs up. Highly recommended!
amazing device     On: 2008-04-26

I cant believe something so small can do what this Ipod Shuffle does. Im enjoying using it when i run, walk the dog, or am just cutting the lawn. For $49 its well worth it.
compact and simple     On: 2008-04-23

This is actually my second MP3 player. The first was a piece of junk. The shuffle is small and simple to use. I had it playing songs in less than 30 minutes after I got some of my music downloaded to my computer. I am not one of the types that has to see what is playing. I put my shuffle on when I start my workout, push play, lock the keys, and continue with my workout. I just let it go. I did have to buy another type of ear pieces because the ones provided are not very workout friendly. They tend to fall out. Otherwise, I am very pleased with my new shuffle.
NEVER BUY iPOD PRODUCTS FROM AMAZON!!!!!     On: 2008-04-22

this is the SECOND time ive bought an iPod from Amazon and the SECOND time it broke within a few months. guess i shouldve learned the first time. NEVER buy an iPod from Amazon! go to the Apple store.
Great for exercising     On: 2008-04-22

This is an excellent option for someone going out to exercise. Easy to hit the next song while running, practically weighless. Great battery life so far. If you listen to it on a regular basis and want it for a primary player, go with one with a screen.
Cleanest Ipod ever     On: 2008-04-22

Great little piece of machinery. I use it for running, biking, and general random abuse. Just today I washed it with my running shorts, along with my Bose earphones and it not only still works, it responds to its dock quicker than ever. Spin cycle worthy. Get it. (headphones still work too)
Great product     On: 2008-04-21

This Ipod is great, I am so pleased with it, great sound, it holds enough music for a day worth of a long trip and the battery last for long, long time. Not trying to sound like I am getting paid by Apple to say this but this is really a great product, I love it.
ipod shuffle     On: 2008-04-20

I loved the ipod shuffle so much that I ordered a second one in a different color two weeks later. Fantastic!
Great second IPOD and for a kid.     On: 2008-04-20

My old mini died so I bought this to replace it. Gets nice and loud with good sound quality. Excellent for working out as I just clip it to my shorts (dont waste money on a strap of any kind as it holds plenty tight as is) route the cable through my shirt and shuffle it up. So light you cant even feel it and the controls are easy to use without looking. Its liberating to not have the distraction of something strapped to you arm when working out. Also bought one for my seven year old and she loves it. Cheap enough that it wont kill us if she were to lose it. Personally, Id go for the 1 gig because without a display to navigate with, 2 gigs would seem way overkill. When you get tired of the playlist you have, just change it up in itunes.
small and practical     On: 2008-04-19

This device is for people who cannot find the proper taste in radio stations. Plug this device on, run itunes, in five minutes it shuffles the songs and loads them into your ipod. No nonsense, very practical.
Great little iPod!     On: 2008-04-19

This little iPod is lightweight and super practical!

Its perfect for listening to audio books or motivational tapes whenever youre on the go!

It attaches to any article of clothing so you dont notice its even there.

For the price you cant go wrong! I liked it so much I bought a few as gifts...and loaded them up with some audio books. The recipients loved it!!

Great purchase! Ultra light, compact, batteryt lasts very long, and super resistant for beating it at the gym...

I bought this for my girlfriend, and she absolutely loves it. It is extremely lightweight, and is perfect for the gym.
Perfect little companion     On: 2008-04-13

Just fantastic. I use it on my bike commute every day. Even when clipped to the collar of my T-shirt, I can barely feel it. Probably not the choice for your only iPod.
IPOD Shuffle Review     On: 2008-04-13

I am really enjoying this!! Its great to listen to songs without them skipping (like with my CD walkman), and the controls are easy to use and easy to access. I like the fact that the music "bookmarks" where I leave off, but that I can also go back to the beginning if I want to without a lot of difficulty. So far its been easy to recharge on the computer and to change the song order if I want. I know Im a real novice with these "electronic gadgets", but this has been easy enough for even me to handle!
Apple iPod shuffle 1gb (2nd Generation) review     On: 2008-04-13

I bought 1 iPod shuffle for my 18 year old daughter for her birthday. When I received it in the mail and opened the box to look at it before I wrapped it up for my daughter I thought the iPod was missing. My 16 year old daughter started laughing and picked up and handed me the iPod. I thought it was just the belt clip it was so small!! I joined iTunes so she could download music I told her I wanted to check out the quality of sound man was I blown away with the sound quality. As a matter of fact I am going to buy one for myself the sound is that great. Also the price is right I have a mp3 and the difference between it and the iPod is about the same as compairing an
8 Track player against a CD player.

No complaints     On: 2008-04-11

I bought one of these a bit over a year ago now, and have yet to have a problem with it. My model is an older neon green, but Im sure its construction is the same as any of the 1 GBs you can pick up today. I read a lot of reviews for this iPod before I bought mine, many of which claimed that they break very easily or wear out quickly; which made me skeptical. I bought it anyway and am glad I did since I have not experienced either of these things even though Im quite active with it on, although I also take very good care of my toys.
It still works as well today as the day I bought it, and sounds great as well. You cant adjust levels independently like you can with other models, but I havent heard a real reason to since the audio seems to be spot on. Of course I dont use the apple ear-buds that came with it since they werent very comfortable, and that may help a bit.
1 GB is a bit small for most, but I think its just right for me. I really dont see a need to carry my entire music collection around with me, since Id be too busy constantly changing songs or artists to enjoy what was playing. The lack of a screen doesnt matter much either, since its easier to cycle through artists when you sort beforehand and just remember what you put on there. It might be a big deal to some but I really didnt see the point in paying another hundred dollars for a screen when I could just devote some thought to what I was importing...
Its only features are simply a switch that controls whether your songs are in shuffle, or are played in the order you chose on iTunes. Its not much, but it works well and I dont think anything else would really be necessary for a one gig list anyway...
The only problem with it (for some) is that your PC must be up to date enough to run the latest version of iTunes, and to get the most out of it you have to have an active internet connection; or at least access to one to download the iTunes software since it isnt included.
A great product overall, hopefully more colors are introduced soon. Black would be beautiful...
my pod     On: 2008-04-11

My 1st "pod" and I love it. It couldnt be simpler to use, downloading songs is so quick and there is great sound out of such a small item. I must admit I was wary about getting it, but now I wouldnt trade my "pod" anything!
Good for its price     On: 2008-04-11

I bought this for my niece, who absolutely loved it! However, she only had it for about 2 weeks when it fell apart after being placed in the charging station. When her mother went to remove it, the insides stayed in the charging base. Amazon was super! They replaced it no questions asked! I think it may have just been a fluke with this one because I have never had problems with any other IPods I have purchased.
Super product!     On: 2008-04-10

What a big sound coming from such a tiny little thing. Love it !!!
Very Easy to Use!     On: 2008-04-09

I purchased this mp3 player about a week ago, and was very excited to see a packaged had arrived in only 3 days. The Shuffle is a great way to listen to a smaller selection of tunes on the go. The size of it is simply amazing. (Roughly 1.3 inches wide, 0.8 inches tall, and 0.2 inches thick) The player is so well designed i find myself just looking at it!

Pros
-Compact
-Amazing design
-Easy Use

Cons
-Included headphones have low-end sound quality
-the dock is tiny, but with a foot long cable.
-Recomends itunes, which only sells protected music, making other mp3 players useless to former Ipod users.
-Itunes is very hard to use with slow internet, frusterating to update.

All in all, a great player, but you might want to invest in a new dock/headphones.
Super Duper and it Comes in Colors     On: 2008-04-09

I purchased the iPod Shuffle for my nieces eighth birthday. She has been wanting a music player for some time and with the low cost and ease of use of the Shuffle, this was the perfect choice. That it comes in purple, her favorite color, was an added bonus.

The Shuffle is ready to go right out of the box, but it took us awhile to get her CDs and iTunes choices into a play list. For some people, the Shuffle may not hold enough songs, but for her, there was more than enough room to get all her High School Musical and Hanna Montana tunes loaded up. Once that was done, she figured out how to use the Shuffle very quickly, without having to look at the directions (that should tell you how easy it is to use!).

Of course, I had to play with it as well and am now going to purchase one for myself. It would be perfect for taking to the gym.
One Step Forward And One Step Back.     On: 2008-04-08

Pros:
New docking station is well designed.
Separate on/off switch and shuffle/non-shuffle switch.
Size

Cons:
Needs dock to sync and/or add data. Lost the ease of use of the direct USB connectivity the Gen 1 had.
iPod shuffle     On: 2008-04-08

This is the 2nd shuffle Ive bought (1 for me and 1 for my husband). They are simple to use, with extremely simple directions. I am not a tech-savy person and yet I was able to learn how to download music from CDs and from itunes. I use it when I run and am on the treadmill-its superlight and I just clip it to my waistband or stick it in my pocket. I love it!
Shuffle rocks...just a few things     On: 2008-04-07

This ipod is also a clip, so you can clip it onto your shirt, pants, or anything like that. It holds a few hundred songs, has good volume, comes in nice colors, and is great, and compact/small. But a few issues are:

1) Its so small, that it can be easily stepped on, or easily ruined; water is also bad on it, even if its just a tiny bit of water that gets on it, it effects the quality.

2) These only live for about 1 year, while other ipods, last at least 2 or 3.

3) It doesnt have much music space, around 360, while the others have 2000.

4) You also dont get to have the screen, so no videos, podcasts, or games; this isnt an issue, but its a downfall.

5) It can get lost easily.

Even though your not paying too much for this, its still not worth the cost. I suggest getting an iPod Nano 8GB, its more money, but completely worth it. This is a good gift for a young child, but it will not last long, and it has a lot of weak spots that are easily met.

I hope this review helps some, :)
Fine for my needs     On: 2008-04-07

I have many different brands of MP3 players, and I got this one solely for songs that I downloaded off of iTunes (that I couldnt find anywhere else.) It certainly suits that purpose. I am not a runner, but I can certainly see how this size and the clip on the back would be great for that. However, if you dont got to the gym, and youre the "I want to hear YMCA right now!" type of person, youre probably better off with a larger iPod or a different brand of player that has a menu function.
Great for books and podcast     On: 2008-04-06

I just got a job that requires three hours of driving a day. I love listening to books and podcast of NPR and other news shows in the car. One of my friends showed me his Ipod that he uses on long trips. I loved the simplicity of it. It did exactly what was needed. So I obtained a used one. Each morning before leaving, I load what I want to here for the day. It never takes more then 150 megs, so the 1 gig size is not an issue. I set the extra space for data, it is great for moving files between work and home. Also, I dont understand, but I charged it when I got it, and have used it for two weeks, without recharging it. It is only connected to my computer for 10 minutes each day when I update the content.

I dont know if other players work as well, the controls are very intuitive, the fast forward and reverse are great for books when you want to re-listen to a sentence that was missed due to driving requirements. If you accidentally hit the wrong button and loose you place, it remembers and will go back. A long pause, such as going into a store for coffee, has it automatically going back a sentence. That is nice to jog your memory. It does not need a screen.

The only thing that seems a little funky is the volume control. There seems to be a lag between pushing the button and the change, it takes me a long time to get the volume where I want it. At first, It was either to loud or to low. Now I mastered it.

I never used Itunes before, it seems to work without any problems.

Needles to say, I could not be more pleased with the product.
cool!     On: 2008-04-06

its small, its cute, perfect to run with, and WAY cheap compared to how much they are in england! yay!
A Great Buy     On: 2008-04-06

Im the type of person who never needed all of the music in my iTunes library with me at all times, so one gigabyte is perfect. The clip is awesome and I love running while listening to my music.
I-Pod Shuffle     On: 2008-04-05

I am very much satisfied with the product. This is the 2nd such item in our possession. My 10 year old son is thrilled with the first one and we bought this as a gift to a close relation. We are sure they will enjoy it hugely.
Great for workouts!!     On: 2008-04-05

This this is great for workouts. Clips onto a hat or your shirt and wont bother you at all. Really nice.

Easy to work with both PC or Mac. Just plug it in, load up iTunes, and youre good. No reason to read a manual or anything. This baby is ready to go out of the box.

The only downside of it, and all ipods, is the headphones. They sound awful. Youre much better off with just about anything. Personally, I like the Bose QuietComfort, but for working out, I just for some of those $20 noise-reduction earbuds that Amazon seems to be selling a lot of. Not the best, but 10x better than the ones that come with the Shuffle.

If youre looking for something to workout with, this is a great one. Otherwise, Id spend a new more bucks and get a Nano or Touch.
Great for Running/Jogging     On: 2008-04-05

My teenagers are both avid runners. They both already had bigger iPods but wanted something smaller and more convenient for running. They specifically requested the iPod Shuffle for Christmas because of its size and the built-in clip. They both really like the iPod Shuffle and use it everytime they run.
Good & small     On: 2008-04-05

I like this player. it is really very small.
Unfortunely the capacity is also small :(
the biggest problem for me is, it doesnt have a display but I know it is designed as a secondary player... Fill it with music you love and enjoy listening ;)
Apple i Pod     On: 2008-04-05

It was a nice experience buying this item exactly how I wanted... enough memory to take to gym or while you are waiting in a line very convenient hide any place. Reasonable price.
I will give 4 and half star ( I wish the clip has faced the other way because some time it is hard to clip without making it to turn off).

Apple Ipod is Great!     On: 2008-04-04

I bought this for mt 9 year old daughter and she loves it! I love it too. We now share it-its so nice and small for running, easy to use for my daughter. I totally would recommend this product for anyone that enjoys having their music at their fingertips-literally. Cant beat the price either.
When You Purchase Any Apple Ipod You Are In Sync With The Preferred Media Of The 21rst Century     On: 2008-04-03

April 2, 2008

As a music critic and undeniable lover of music, several Ipods of varying capacities that I own including the Apple iPod shuffle 1GB are of the utmost importance professionally and pleasurably as a purveyor of outstanding music of every genre imaginable. When Apple introduced the iPod initially it was not simply a player to me but a conceptual innovation comprising the most technologically expedient ways to organize and listen to entries situated on iTunes. Ipods offer the listener the most expansive and versatile genres and lists of songs anywhere on this planet Earth through their Store. The Shuffle is noted for absolute affordability, the ability to autofill (see the Apple specs for more information), fill with almost three hundred songs and it is lighter than a cereal flake on your plate. The sheer portability of the Shuffle considering its tiny mass is actually to me, its biggest selling feature. On another note, Apple is truly a customer oriented company. This is a conglomerate that could easily stand on its laurels having provided the public with the essense of excellence in portable media that although destined to evolve and change is nevertheless here to stay, and is determined to afford each and every Apple buyer the courteous and unmaginably helpful assistance with their iPod line of products. Whether it is my iPod shuffle 1GB or my 8GB Nano, my general disposition smacks of my New York City upbringing when I say "Where else can you go"?

Fast Shipping, Great Product     On: 2008-04-03

Great for outdoor running, and for use at the gym. Buyer beware, just watch out for traffic when using during outdoor running/walking. Very happy with the purchase. Now I dont need to worry about securing my iPod Touch for runs, etc.
As perfect as can be for running!     On: 2008-04-02

I just got my iPod Shuffle about a week ago, and Im absolutely thrilled with the purchase. I have a 30g iPod video that I never took running with me - its just too expensive to risk breaking or losing and I hate wearing the armbands. When Apple dropped the price it was the first time I seriously thought about getting a Shuffle for exercising, and Im so glad I did.

2 GB is a wonderful size, I only have 60 songs on my running playlist right now, picking and choosing from my 3500 song library. I know I can add more than 400 more songs, but honestly Im not sure I ever will! The size of the Shuffle itself is great, I clip it onto my jacket or shirt and completely forget its there, it is so light.

I got my Shuffle in green and I love the color, it is beautiful and I dont think Ill ever get tired of it.

The sound is my only issue, it is great in almost every aspect but the bass could definitely be pumped up. If anyone knows a way to turn up the bass on a Shuffle, could you leave it in the comments?

Overall I love this MP3 player as a compliment to my iPod video, and the perfect running accessory!

iPOD Shuffle     On: 2008-03-29

I love everything about my new shuffle. I already have a classic IPOD which I love, but the shuffle is much more portable and convenient. It is easy to change songs, I like to use previously made playlists from my ipod classic.
big things do come in small packages!     On: 2008-03-29

I am thoroughly impressed with my Ipod shuffle. It holds around 240 songs and who really needs more than that? I listen to it when I am working out or riding along on a long trip. Great addition to my collection of tech toys.
useless     On: 2008-03-28

So I got this as a Christmas gift and nobody really knows how much I hate the thing. Why anybody would want one of these is beyond me. You have exactly 2 choices. Option number one is click forward or reverse until you find the song that you want to hear, on a 1GB mp3 player that holds somewheres around 256 songs, you could be clicking up to 128 times (if the given song you want to hear is at the furthest point from where you currently are and if I am really good at math). Your other option is shuffle. Hence the genius name iPod shuffle. "iPod shuffle" does sound better than "iPod press forward a hundred times". The other thing that really sucks is the difficulty involved in just adding a song. Its not like a normal mp3 player, where you just open the folder after you plug it in a click and drag songs in. No, you have to use iTunes and have an iLibrary and stuff. What a hassle, I just wanted to add a couple songs before I went out. Whats with all this work involved, "No I dont want to update iTunes now I have a job to go to." Sometimes I just want to add a song or change something around real quick but its impossible. This whole process is nearly as time consuming as going to the DMV. On the plus side the iPod shuffle comes in a variety of different colors to match the sweater vest you probably put on your dog.
iPod Shuffle     On: 2008-03-28

I make full use of my downloaded podcasts, but am extremely annoyed that the shuffle will only play the podcasts in order order of newest to oldest and that it will not recognize the order I set the programs. I have searched the internet for a solution to find out that this is the way the shuffle operates.
Best workout accessory ever     On: 2008-03-28

I got this because I got sick of carrying my big iPod around when I go running, and it has been the best thing ever. Its tiny, and clips right on to my shirt or shorts, and it looks cool too!
LOVE IT!!!     On: 2008-03-27

This is a great product and worth every penny. So portable and actually holds more songs than I expected. Great buy and very worth the money!!!
Perfect No-brainer Player!     On: 2008-03-26

Okay, folks...I actually returned my 16GB iPod Touch to Costco in favor of the Shuffle!

Why? (Enquiring minds `Shirley want to know!) Because, (and heres the irony) you absolutely *could not* operate that puppy by touch! The Shuffle thingy, OTOH, is so simple, so light and so fool proof (but definitely not so-so), with excellent battery life and sound quality--not to mention the ability to operate it by feel in the dark--that, at literally 1/10th the cost ($39--refurbished through an Amazon reseller-- vs $389 for the Touch--Costcos discounted price), I am now, unequivocally, enjoying a superior listening/operating experience (your smileage may vary).

Okay... reality check... Needless to say, the Shuffle holds but a fraction of your hard won (er, stealthily torrented) groovy bits n bytes compared with the Touch and, true, it has no WiFi/browser/high-rez multi-touch/uber-cool screen factor to crow about; on the other hand, it *is* nearly indestructible and perfect for my primary love (drumroll)... Books on Tape.

I now routinely check-out Books on Tape (actually on CD) from my local library and, using iTunes, in conjunction with a $15 dollar shareware audiobook-automating program (called Markable), convert them to a single bookmarkable file. The typical 8 to 10 CD `book, when employing the amazingly high quality default 64KBPS spoken podcast preset (found under the Edit/Preferences/Advanced submenu of iTunes), results in an aproximately 220 to 240 MB file. Ergo, one can fit (aprox) 4 unabridged 8 to 10 disc Books on Tape (er, CD) on ones 1GB Shuffle--and each book maintains its own (unique) bookmark reliably! Of course, you can purchase the same file from [...], but that gets expensive quick.

Turns out the Shuffle is absolutely *great* for working out (especially I find, during one-armed handstand push-ups), driving to work (ironically, I work in a drive-thru) or just puttering around the yard (with my Big Bertha driver). Just click (by feel) the large n tactile central play/pause button and off you go... within seconds youre enjoying that Pee Wee Herman autobiography youd been longing to dig into for so long. You dont even have to turn it off... once paused, after 5 minutes or so, it automatically goes to sleep... to restart, just click twice. The convenient, strong built in clip is great too... I usually attach it to the diamond encrusted LaCoste logos on my polos and it clamps on reliably (okay, okay... theyre Cubic...).

This signature ease of use was sorely missing from the Touch, with its marked paucity of feelable buttons and non-existant even rudimentary in-line controls on the headphones... Such unfriendly design was, `Touch glam aside, a major hassle, and to be honest, deal-breakingly downright dangerous when driving (sorry for the alit hit there!). Conversely, the (um, non-existant) touch-screen on the postage stamp-size Shuffle leaves something to be desired when viewing Laurence of Arabia (esp. `Ultrawide Directors Cut or `IMAX versions).

Bottom line--you just cant go wrong with the Shuffle, especially at $39 (approaching semi-disposable?!?)! I also would recomemend this groovy gizmo to those owners of pricier players to use in their stead when engaging in risky behaviors (ie, sauntering provocatively into, say, a Star Trek convention in ones Wookie suit (abomination!)...you know who you are!).

Well, thanks for reading... and now go forth (with a `fifth?) and Listen long and prosper!

Great iPod for the price.     On: 2008-03-26

Easy to use iPod. Great for those who only want to use it at the gym.
Good soud quality and small size...     On: 2008-03-26

are a plus for this product. I am glad to have it and love the purple color option. Only wish Apple would have upgraded the 3G to 2 GB instead of the 1 GB which holds around 250 songs. It is great for the size and just what I need for running and lunch hours at work.
DOA     On: 2008-03-26

It was DOA. I followed all the instructions, updated my iTunes software, bought files from the iTunes store and Amazon MP3. It always failed to sync. I tried the help function. Nothing worked. I called the Apple help line. They couldnt get it to work either. Fortunately, Amazon is good about returns. Mine is on its way back.
Satisfied Customer!     On: 2008-03-25

My first foray into the MP3 player market and I find myself totally satisfied with the purchase. It is easy to use, compact and reliable. Ive used it quite a bit over the past couple of months while working out (running/jogging) and have found it a breeze to use. The iPod shuffle coupled with the iTunes software makes this a must buy if you need a music player for on-the-go!
I *love* the ipod!     On: 2008-03-25

Its hard to believe that while theres a stereo concert going on in my head, no one else can hear it! I absolutely love this little ipod shuffle -- it helps me relax. its easy to use, the quality is great, and I really enjoy my music. Thanks, Apple! :-)

I absolutely love this ipod. It fits perfect on my clothes when I exercise.
iPod Shuffle     On: 2008-03-24

Performs as advertised. Small, compact, price is right.
Although there is not a menu available; if you only place songs on the shuffle that you want to listen to, then any song that plays is one that you will want to listen to.
Pretty amazing stuff compared to the "Walkman" of old.
Fantastic!!!     On: 2008-03-24

I received my ipod shuffle two weeks ago and I am just delighted with it. I use it when I go to the gym because its the right SIZE. I just clip it anywhere on my clothes and enjoy my music. My husband also has one and he loves it. The lower price convinced us to get this model because I already have a 5th generation video ipod. I use the in-ear headphones and the sound is just FANTASTIC!!!
Apple iPod Shuffle 1GB (2nd Generation)     On: 2008-03-24

This iPod is perfect for a 40 something female that knows nothing about technology, and does not listen to much music other than the radio. I took my few CDs that I had and downloaded them. Its very simple, and the Shuffle is so small that I can strap it on my arm when I work out. I bought one for my husband who is also technically challenged. We love them!
Great product. I recommend it for everyone!!     On: 2008-03-23

Small but mighty. It is great for gym, jogging, treadmill or even if you are in a boring class!
nifty     On: 2008-03-22

The shuffle is cool. The only thing is that it has a nice clip, but my gym clothes dont have anywhere to clip it too. So I put it in my pocket. Where it is hard to skip songs, change volume etc/.

I havent figured out yet how to manually add music, so that is an issue. But the extremely small size of this makes it a lot of fun. I really like it.
BAD IPOD     On: 2008-03-20

Not only did I purchase the IPOD Shuffle but paid fpr shipping. It did not work and now I have to pay to ship the thing back? Not great service and really bad product. Wont be doing this again.
The Shuffle is a bad little piece of equipment!     On: 2008-03-17

This little 1GB piece of equipment is WELL worth every penny I paid for. I can store up to 15 hours of music on smaller than a matchbook size ipod.

I love it! One thing I am not sure if everyone knows is you get a docking station that charges your ipod - I didnt know so I bought a docking station for a laptop.

The earbuds that I got with the ipod were a little to get used to. They made my ear a bit sore to begin with. Other than that - this little wonder is totally worth money. If you want to see if you like the idea of an ipod...my suggestion is go this route - it isnt a large monetary investment.

I LOVE IT!
The Second Generation Is Quite a Sensation     On: 2008-03-17

If you like to listen to your music and you want to take it on the run, this i-pod shuffle is perfect. Its small enough to bring. Its not as big as some of those that are ridiculously big. It can hold 250 songs so Ill bet you wont run out of space for songs. The i-pod has big range of volume. You can have it really loud so you dont have to put the headphones in your ears. If you have CDs that you love, you can download the CD in your i-pod for free using Itunes. Its free to download Itunes too. Free, free, free I say, free! Or you could also buy songs that you dont have on CDs. If your an American Idol fan you can buy any contestants song that they sung on stage. Cool huh? As I said in the title the i-pods second generation is quite a sensation!
It killed my computer - Thanks Apple     On: 2008-03-17

Well we bought one of these things for my fiances birthday (because it was cute...as all Apple products are) and within 20 minutes my computer was completely inoperable. Following the super simple installation directions downloaded the required software, installed it on my XP Pro machine and everything seemed fine. I plugged in the ipod and began getting a nagging "USB Device not recognized" message. After a reboot the thing seemed to work. I copied a couple of songs to it and (safely) ejected the device and was able to listen to the songs. Great success! But after I returned it to its cradle I again get the message about the USB blah blah blah.

Could it be that I have to reboot the computer every time I want to use the stupid iPod? That sucks. So then I reboot again. After the XP splash screen I get...nothing. Thats right...nothing. I reboot again. Nothing. And again and again. I remove the ipod from the USB port. Same thing. Safe mode wont boot. ERD commander doesnt find anything wrong. I finally get it to boot into VGA mode of all things. I manually remove all (this was the only USB device I had) usb devices from the registry and reboot. It is noteworthy that with ZERO usb devices detected I am still getting the flashing "USB Device not recognized" error every 2 seconds or so. Moving right along.

The machine comes back up and begins detecting the USB Root hubs (as I expected) and then...USB DEVICE NOT FREAKIN RECOGNIZED! So after a few hours of trying to fix this computer I decided to re-install
Windows. Im in computer support and fix Macs and PCs all day long. I should have known to expect this kind of crap from apple. It really makes me wonder why these Apple Zealots are so high on overpriced garbage. I picked up a creative stone instead. And guess what? It works like a charm.

If I have convinced 1 person to shuffle on past this POS Ive done my job.
Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Silver (2nd Generation)     On: 2008-03-16

They would not mail to an APO address. It took a very long time to get to the stateside address I gave them. The Ipod works great. Price was not competitive.
Cute & handy!     On: 2008-03-15

I like this little thing! Has enough memory to create a fair amount of variety for workouts, and its so tiny that its not a chore to cart around. Tiny and cute and yet the buttons are big enough to manipulate while huffing and puffing. Fair enough price for a starter pod, though I would have given it 5 stars if only just a little cheaper. (I think Mac could handle it) :) But, nonetheless, Id still recommend it.

And a pretty color too!
Not a good buy...     On: 2008-03-14

I have had my shuffle for over a year now. It plays well, and I love the size of it. However, it has a major flaw. After I had it for a month, it quit connecting to the computer. I am under the impression that if I was near an apple store they could fix it (however, I am not driving 400 miles to do so.)
Great starter ipod, Fantastic customer service!     On: 2008-03-14

I bought this for my granddaughter as her first iPod. She loves it! The most amazing thing is, that a couple of days after I bought it, Apple lowered the price of it to $49.99 and I had paid $79.99. I sent an email to Amazon and they refunded the difference with out any hesitation! This is what I call fantastic customer service!
Best MP3 player for active lifestyle     On: 2008-03-09

Pros:
-Georgeous! Sleek. Aluminum and not cheap plastic.
-Flash. You do not have to worry about shock and vibration compared to a hard drive.
-Interface. Like other Apple user interface, it is so simple to use. Not so many buttons to learn how to use.
-So small
-The clip is a fantastic feature in itself. You can clip to your collar, sleeve, hat, pockets... If you go to gym a lot or jogs, this is the perfect thing for you.
-The earphone that it comes with does not tangle very easily.

Cons:
-Itunes only. No drag and drop for your audio files. Although you can drag and drop files if you set it to use also as a storage device. You just cannot play the audio.
-There is no screen to see song titles.
-Proprietary dock (which comes with the player - do not lose it). You cannot plug it directly to USB.
2 GB offers better value for the money     On: 2008-03-08

The increase in capacity to 2GB now makes the Shuffle worth the money. I had the 1 GB version previously and was happy with the functionality, but I always felt that it was overpriced for what it gave you.

I wouldnt make a Shuffle my primary iPod, but its great for going to the gym or times when you dont want to carry a full size iPod.

Wonderful little gadget for the gym     On: 2008-03-03

What a neat little sucker this is. It holds about 270 songs and the drawback is that you have to buy the songs for $0.99 each from Itunes. Previously I have downloaded all my music for free as mp3s. This has its own format to make you only use songs you buy. The advantage over getting free music is that it is easier and you can find songs this way that you cant find for free.
The small size is the thing that sold me on this. What a great convenience it is to just clip this to your clothing. I also like the hip factor this has. It has gotten me some attention.
The sound quality is amazingly good.
Aside from having to get all your music from Itunes, another drawback is that you cant charge this except from your computer. I have not seen a charger that you can get that will work with this although one will surely come out. This has a hole in the bottom for a post you insert from the little charger, which in turn plugs into the USB2 port on you computer.
The Itunes software works pretty well at loading the songs into this but I found that when I buy new songs it does not automatically load them in as it should but I must manually click on each song to make it load into this.
Also, whenever I turn this on I hear nothing at first unless I hit the shuffle button. Then there is a delay until I hear the music. Im not sure if this is a glitch in my particular unit of they all do this but it is a bit annoying. I would like to hear this as soon as I turn it on.
So there is a tradeoff with this. You dont get all the features you would like but the convenience, size and cuteness of this might make it worthwhile anyway if you are like me and appreciate the cutting edge factor of this tiny player.

Portable and powerful     On: 2008-03-03

Easily syncs to iTunes and allows my workout playlist to go with me whenever I workout. Very portable but the hard drive is too small to hold most music libraries. Really designed for a playlist.

I have a video ipod that I use to hold my entire library, display video content, and play in the car but the large size makes it less useful for working out and running. The compact shuffle is great for working out. Another option, assuming price is less of an object, is purchasing a Nano that affords both video/audio + is relatively compact.

Im the last one in the family to get an Ipod. I bought everybody one but myself. When Amazon contacted me with this one at that awesome price, I had to have it. I love it! Great sound!

Great value, especially now     On: 2008-03-03

This is a very handy, easily programmed unit. And with the new price, it is even a better deal than when I bought it at $75.00! It is definitely worth the money.
Good if you want to sync to only 1 computer     On: 2008-03-03

The good: Its small and its an mp3 player. Perfect for the gym.

The bad: Make sure you set this iPod to the computer you want to use and use the most. If you have music libraries that are on various computers, like myself. Then you will need to merge yours into one.
You cant even plug this into another computer and listen to the music because it will ask you if you want to erase and reformat. That is total bs.
Im swallowing Apples 10% restocking fee and will be returning this. Im totally disappointed.

good product for price but not crazy about the ear phones     On: 2008-03-01

the ipod shuffle is a tiny thing but that is what I like about it. its about the size of half a credit card. I picked the purple one but it comes in several colors.I believe there is blue, green and maybe even a pink one.
I did have to replace the ear phones cause I didnt like the fit of the ones that came with the ipod. I had trouble with them staying in my ears.
You should also note that if you want your music played in a certain order on you ipod, you should make sure that you have it set up that way before you unhook it from your computer. the program lets you sort by artist, alblum and grene. depending on which you pick, that is the way its going to play if you pick loop.
I am not sorry I purchased the ipod and I have been enjoying it since it was delivered.
Cool little player     On: 2008-03-01

It is so simple to use. I love it!

Small and mighty     On: 2008-02-29

This is my second shuffle. I bought one for my workout, perfect size. My wife liked it so much, she had to have one. The battery is built in, rechargeable and lasts forever before a recharge. Great sound to, what are you waiting for? Johan
Great Ipod.... Love it     On: 2008-02-28

This is the best little thing ever.... IT is perfect for the gym. It clips right on your waistband. It has a great sound and holds plenty of music. My husband has a Nano and it is nice accept you have to buy an arm band or some other contraption to hold it while you work out. Now that they have lowered the price to under 50 bucks for this everyone should get one. I ordered mine a week to early and paid 74.99 but it was worth that as well.

The 2GB Shuffle - Finally a Larger Starter MP3 Player from Apple!!!     On: 2008-02-25

Apple iPod shuffle 2 GB Silver (2nd Generation)

Apples iPod Shuffle finally has a higher-capacity big brother. This compact MP3 player was always great for active users who enjoy working out, running or music listening on the go. The new 2GB model offers consumers an Apple version of capacity the competition has been offering for a year. Great as a gift, extra player, or exercise companion.

Pros
- New 2GB provides better capacity at a lower price per gigabyte!!!!
- Enlarged capacity allows for more song storage and less swapping in iTunes!
- Compact and functional design
- Nicely integrated clip - No case needed!
- Nice battery performance for long use
- Great family of Apple accessories
- Great for those already used to iTunes
- iTunes also good for inexperienced MP3 users
- Included in-ear headphones are great for a starter pair
- Same great color options (silver, green, purple, blue)
- Highly durable player
- Apple brand and reputation

Cons
- Still a premium price compared to competing players in total $ terms
- Competing products offer more features, including fm radio and voice recording
- No screen to view track names
- Difficult to control / select tracks via playlists
- Proprietary dock / jack for syncing
- No expandability
- Limited native file format support in iTunes (MP3, AAC)
- No drag and drop music control
- Non iTunes fans are still forced to deal with software limitations

The Form Factor

The long awaited 2 gigabyte iPod Shuffle has the same body that has captured a large audience of fans. Size has always been the iPod shuffles greatest asset. The integrated clip is no doubt its second greatest asset. Big intuitive buttons make fast learners out of new users.

This unit works fine with no extra case, though there are still case options. The composite case comes in one of several popular color options, including silver, blue, green and purple.

Apples proprietary headphone jack is still used for syncing. Most competing players use a standard USB B port. Still a great overall design.

Durability

Apple deserves points for the more durable player in this group. Even with the composite body, these guys do hold up to a lot of abuse. Creatives failure rates are too high, but Sandisks Clip is gaining ground in this area.

Capacity

The 2GB is LONG OVERDUE!!! Amazons long wait times will surely have some going to Apple stores.

The 1GB size was Apples only option for a LONG time. The market has been flooded with 2GB players from the competition, as well as shuffle lookalikes. Still, as Apple finally ups their size, Sansa now offers the Clip in a 4GB size, though with long backorder waits. SanDisk Sansa Clip 4 GB MP3 Player (Silver) Still, expanding options makes the current starter MP3 market very good for consumers right now.

Creative Zen Stone Plus 2 GB MP3 Player (Black)
SanDisk Sansa c150 2 GB MP3 Player (Black)
SanDisk Sansa Express 2 GB MP3 Player (Black)
SanDisk SDMX7-2048 Sansa c250 2 GB MP3 Player
SanDisk Sansa Clip 2 GB MP3 Player (Black)

Features and Software

Competing players over simple screens for track viewing as well as FM radio and voice recording. The Zen Stone Plus by Creative and the Sandisk Clip each offer all three features at better price points. Apples reliability and brand loyalty has allowed the shuffle to survive with limited features.

Competing players also offer drag and drop syncing using standard USB cables or, in the case of the Sansa Express, via direct USB. Apple still requires the proprietary dock.

It still seems excessive to have to use iTunes software to sync 2GB of songs. Competing players have even worse software, but allow you to drag and drop files on these devices like USB thumb drives.

iTunes is both a curse and a blessing, depending on your point of view. For those who are used to iTunes or totally new to MP3s, the interface can be a great plus. For anybody who wants more direct control over their music collection, some of the features within iTunes can become burdensome. Not to mention, it seems every week iTunes requires a new software update.

Once again, if you LOVE Apple and iTunes, or if you are totally new to MP3s the software will still be a net plus for you.

For those that care about file options, Apples software allows only limited MP3 and AAC music formats. You can easily convert other formats to these, but be aware of the limits. This is only a negative for those really loyal to a certain file format, such as the growing group of WMA users. Having to have 2 format copies of all your music can really hurt as your collection grows.

Sound

The sound this unit produces is pretty good though not great. While I still feel the first generation shuffle sounded much better, the tradeoff was worth the smaller size.

Cost

The shuffles price has finally come down to about $65 for 2GB or $50 for 1GB. While not a bargain, this price makes the sting much less painful for Apple loyalists. The dollar per gigabyte cost is at least approaching that of competing players. The absolute dollar cost is still a premium when you factor in features.

Players like the Sansa Clip continue to offer more features at this capacity. If you want a small player and you are open to brands beyond Apple, your options continue to expand. The Creative Stone Plus, Sansa Clip, and new models from Samsung and Sony are all worth a look.

Once again, Apples reputation is well deserved. This model still requires you to pay a premium for it, though a slightly shrinking premium. :-D

Conclusion

If you must have Apple and need a small player for high impact workouts, this new 2GB shuffle is it. If you and can afford it, stepping up to the Apple iPod Nano 4GB will cost you $140 but gives you twice the capacity and video. Still, if youre not an Apple die-hard, the Sansa Clip and other options deserve serious consideration.

Research your options and choose the player thats right for you. Overall this is a good player at an improved price.

Enjoy!!!

Great     On: 2008-02-25

Great for what it is. No screen, so you have to arrange things the way you want them before you upload. It bookmarks tracks where you left off, which is perfect for listening to podcasts or books on tape, which is what I use it for. Great gadget for the price.
functional once u get past the setup     On: 2008-02-25

So I buy the shuffle because it is wicked small, figure it will have the same simple drag and drop setup that the ipod has. Well, i come to find that loading music is pretty annoying, and slow. Music has to link up to the music loaded on you iTunes library which is annoying if i move some of the music around. when I want to delete music from the device agian, its easier to write down what songs you want to delete because doing it one by one will take far too long.
The device works fine, as would be expected from an apple product, but in comparison to what Im already used to (iPod) the loading and unloading process is slower and as a result annoying. Other than that, once its good to go, its great for working out, small, practically weight less, unobtrusive. If there was another procut out there that was just as small , i would probably not get the ipod, but given that there isnt one as small, ill have to stick to this one for now.
cute basic for an old fogie     On: 2008-02-25

This is my first iPod and I am enjoying the heck out of it! Its easy - easy - easy.

Next purchase will be to upgrade the ear buds for a bit more comfort. Sound is very good. Having a soundtrack for daily life...priceless.
It's stupid but I LOVE it     On: 2008-02-24

Ok, when Apple offered an ipod with no screen, where the songs are offered to you randomly, I thought - this is so DUMB. Then I tried it. Now my Nano and Classic 80 just sit gathering dust. This device is so small and light and sounds great, and hey I just use iTunes to keep my current play-list on it. If I dont feel like listening to a particular song, I just hit "skip". IMPORTANT: The sound can be a little lightweight unless you use earphones that have substantial bass. I upgraded to earphones by Westone. Awesome match with the Shuffle.
Small mp3 big sound and clarity     On: 2008-02-23

I have avoided buying ipods because of the price associated. But now that I have broken down and purchased one I am pleased to say I was impressed. This shuffle has powerful sound, without becoming distorted. The battery lasts for mine about 4 1/2 hours and charges like a snap. The mp3 player keeps where you left off if you suddenly have to turn it off, the player goes into pause if the headphones are unplugged, and the clip is extremely strong. I ran on a track with this clipped to the end of my sleeve and it did not even move. The only down side is that the headphone are not ear buds or wrap arounds, but that is just personal preference. Even at this price I would recommend buying it, there is just not another mp3 that is better than a shuffle in this small of a package that does not have any design or software problems.
New 2GB model out     On: 2008-02-23

This is not a review, just a heads up to let everyone know a new 2GB Shuffle is coming out near Mid-March of 2008, at a cost of about $70. You will get 1GB extra for only $20 more.
Good product     On: 2008-02-22

There was a problem with the pod that I received but the return process was so easy I cant beleive it. Customer service was excellent! New I pod is awesome. Its so tiny and accessable clipped to your shirt. I definately recommend it.
Best Buy     On: 2008-02-22

Nothing will ever be everything for everybody. With the reduced price for the 1GB Model this is as good as it gets. Small and light with very good audio. You should invest in decent earphones for any MP3 player. Try Future Sonics brand earbuds with the Shuffle and you will be amazed. Limited ability to manage songs from the device but so what. Listen to your music and enjoy this great Apple quality product.
Woo Hoo $48 what a bargain     On: 2008-02-20

I have the 1st generation shuffle (gift) - thought it was great replacement for the Sony Stick version that I had many years ago. This version is great for running and workouts as it is sooo small and non-intrusive, and with its own clip. I know Apple has just announced the 2GB version but for my running - 1GB and the battery life are more than enough features for me. What a great price. I have had this item on my to buy list for a long time as I thought the original $80 was a little too high. I cant be happier with this new price.
Makes a lovely gift     On: 2008-02-19

I purchased this item for my 10 year old daughter. She absolutely loves it! Its not too expensive and serves the same purpose as a regular ipod.

Easy to operate, small in size     On: 2008-02-19

This is my first Ipod. I wanted to listen to music while I work out, by walking and cross country sking. This is it. Its so small I can bring it anywhere. Good sound too. I didnt like the fact that the software was not compatible to my windows 2000. I had to use my wifes computer. Apples site of course wants you to buy their music, but they are pretty good about making it easy to download your own CDs. The rechargable battery is nice. I can easily go 10 hours on a charge. I like things simple and the controls are very simple. Thanks apple.
Want to Make a Good Ipod Purchase? Stop here!     On: 2008-02-18

The 3rd generation of the Ipod Shuffle has to be one of the best purchases that I have ever made, period. Although I will admit that there is just one down side that I see in comparison to say the 80 gig classic Ipod, which I also own. But lets focus on the positive first.

Running at least 8.5 miles a day, 5 times a week the Shuffle is great to have! The controls are easy to use, it gets loud enough to drown out all of the people at the gym and the battery life is out of this world. I love that it can handle hours of music, also that is so small that I forget that I am wearing it on my arm. I also wrote a review one of the Shuffle arm bands that I highly suggest. I know that a lot of people love their new Ipod Touches, but I think that the Shuffle could be the most valuable Ipod because of all of the people I see at the gym using one. It makes time fly and I go a couple of weeks without having to charge it.

The one down side is the sound quality when you compare it to full size Ipod. You can really tell the difference between them. But that is just one of those trade offs for size and convinence that you are going to have to live with with the Shuffle. The rest of the unit is great to use. I know that other reviewers state that it is a little pricey compared to other small MP-3 players, and that is true, it is. But when a product works like the Ipod Shuffle 3rd generation it is worth the little extra money for the long term benefits that the product is going to deliver.
Perfect size, functional on the go     On: 2008-02-18

I had one of the older 1st generation iPod shuffles and upgraded to this latest model 2 mos ago. I primarily use it for running and working out. The small size is perfect -- I love how it just clips to your clothes rather than requiring an armband or lanyard. Also, I have not had the same issue with this iPod shuffle as I did with my old one in that it frequently had issues with its shuffle algorithm (to the point where I could tell it was merely going in the order of the artists first name alphabetically or it would play the same block of songs over and over). I have really been pleased with mine so far after 2 months and the price is reasonable given all the use I get out of my iPod shuffle.
Great Product!     On: 2008-02-17

Ive been running with this thing since I got it, and its perfect for the job. (I didnt get one of those arm bands that you can get with it because I hear that those are not so good). Its lightweight, it holds more songs than I need in a run, and its got a great battery life. Simple. This is the straightforward ipod; NO frills. I dig it.
Awesome purchase!     On: 2008-02-17

I got the iPod quickly and it works great. Id definitely recommend this product to anyone who wants a dependable mp3 player. The battery life is impressive. Awesome for any activity or to just take on the road. Im thrilled with my purchase.
I Love my iPod shuffle !     On: 2008-02-16

This is a wonderful item. Very small, with a very convenient clip to
fasten to shirts , coats or just about anything. It holds well over 250
songs, I have 277 on mine. It will play songs in the order
you downloaded them, or will shuffle the songs whenever you want.
The best thing about this ipod is the convenience , just clip and go.

I-Pod shuffle     On: 2008-02-15

I must say this is a perfect starter i-pod. Its easy to operate, easy to understand instructions, easy to download songs, great quality sound for such a small unit. There are much more fancy units out there but for the money this was a great buy and perfect for a childs 1st i-pod.....
My favorite tax return purchase of '07!     On: 2008-02-14

Ive had this little player for just about a year and it has been good to me. Initially, it was mainly for running and working out in the gym but it has replaced my main iPod with just about everything I do. The size cant be beat and I can bring it anywhere and listen to music discreetly. Originally, this was a 3 star review, because of the crappy included earbuds. However, with some equalizer settings and a good pair of headphones (Sennheiser CX 300 B), this nifty gadget cannot be beat. Functionality wise, the clip was a great idea but they left our some sort of wire organizer. To alleviate that miscue I bought this clear mophie case and now its perfect! Of course, this product is not for everyone. I think if enjoy just music and like not carrying bulky stuff around, this makes perfect sense for you.
great product     On: 2008-02-13

I love this little IPod. It is very hardy after a few days I accidently dropped it in some water and it still plays ;like new. I put both music and books on it. I love the clip, the size and the clarity of sound. It was my first IPod.
Some of the directions for setting it up could be a lot clearer otherwise it is a great product and a good price.
Excellent product     On: 2008-02-10

Product met all expectations and is a wonderful addition to my electronic music devices. Highly recommended!
Works Better Than The 1st Generation Shuffles.     On: 2008-02-08

I was dragging my feet purchasing this product because I was so used to the 1st Generation shuffle that has built in usb. However, the reason I switched was the 1st generation shuffle continually got corrupted, despite ejecting it. This was not the case for the 3rd Generation shuffle. Furthermore, Apple has improved the on/off, shuffle and repeat buttons so they work much better.

As a cyclist and a runner, this iPod is ideal because of its size and weight. A common complaint is the lack of display, but this is not much of an issue if you are focused on exercising music and not exact songs.

A vast improvement over the former model.
Why did I wait so long?     On: 2008-02-08

Who knew anything this small could pack such a punch? I looked into ipod when they first came out and thought Ill never use it. Was I wrong! On this tiny iPod Shuffle I can fit 240 of my all time favorite tunes. Its the biggest "mix tape" ever! Now I know why the iPod ads show everyone dancing so uninhibitedly. Its like having music in your head! You cant help but move. I am dancing around my house on a regular basis, something I havent done in years. The sound is amazing. Its easy to use. I clip it on my shirt and my workouts at the gym are better than ever. My fellow exercisers shouldnt be surprised if, one day, I cant contain myself and dance ecstatically around the gym!
Technological Wonder     On: 2008-02-08

What a great world we live in that something as small as a fifty-cent piece can provide us with so much entertainment. The Apple Shuffle IPod is great I had so many older songs downloaded onto my computer and to be able to fit over two-hundred on such a small thing is a wonder and at such a good price.I know spending money for the Apple is worth it. My only problem is with the ear buds, but Im old school and I prefer over the ear headphonesBose® around-ear headphones, for personal and portable listening. Still the sound is good anyway.
Docking Station #3     On: 2008-02-07

I loved the concept and have run many miles with this little thing attached to my shirt. I would give it 5 stars if I was not on my third docking station which is again beginning to falter like the previous two. I am out of warranty and dont want to throw good money after bad!!!
Perfect workout companion     On: 2008-02-05

After the arm band for my video ipod chafed a large spot on my arm I finally decided it was time for something a little more manageable to work out with. The Shuffle is the perfect solution. It holds plenty of music to give my walk or run variety and is so small I can clip it just about anywhere on my clothes and forget about it. I even load it with yoga podcasts and bring it with me to my mat. The only downside is that its so small I get paranoid about losing it.
iPod Shuffle- 3rd Gen.     On: 2008-02-05

I bought the latest Nano based on a Shuffle Id received as a gift. But after the Shuffle was lost (easy due to its size) I had to have another one. The primary reason is its small size and the handy clip. I dont need a pocket or case to hold it- just clip it onto a sleeve. I have an iMac, so its especially easy to load music from my CD collection. I probably use the Shuffle 10-1 over my new Nano.

Mom's little christmas shuffle     On: 2008-01-30

A great present, easy to use, my mom loves it as much as she does her big ipod. I have had to answer no usage questions and she set it all up herself with absolutely no problem. Extremely easy to use.

There is NO 3rd generation iPod Shuffle, yet     On: 2008-01-27

As of now, Jan-27-2008, there is NO iPod SHUFFLE 3rd generation. iPod Shuffles are still in the 2nd generation!!!! The title is totally misleading. What happens is that on or around September 2007, Apple changed the COLORS of the iPod Shuffle line of products, only that, the COLORS. Changing colors doesnt do for a new generation. The iPod itself is exactly the same, outside and inside, still metal, JUST THE SAME. So, so far, only two generations of iPod Shuffle. Dont let the title mislead you. You can obviously tell, based on the color (except the silver one, that remained the same), if the Shuffle is newer or not, but, I repeat, they are the same.

I bought mine in an Apple store, since there is one very near here. It was a gift for my daughter. It is a good product but I had a very bad experience to make it work. To make the long story short, what I needed to do to make it work was to remove ALL my peripherals connected via USB, except the mouse and keyboard, and then finally it worked.

Apple phone customer support was very polite but, actually, it was useless and gave me some wrong information (like a shuffle not being able to carry files besides songs). The guy from the store, where I also visited to get some help, simply connected it to a computer and since it worked there, he gave me no explanations, or possibilities for why it was not working in my computer, he just handed it back to me saying it was ok.

After googling the subject, I found an article that suggested removing all USB connected equipments from the computer, and finally it did the trick. This article was NOT from the apple site. So, summing it up, Apple was no good to help me fix the problem. Thats why I removed one star from the rating.

An okay iPod     On: 2008-01-27

This was my very first iPod that I had gotten last year for a gift. I was very pleased with it for a while, until I ran out of space to put all of my music on. There is no expandable memory for this iPod, and that is not a good thing if you are going to shell out 80 dollars for this product. The size of this iPod could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you look at it. I carry a small purse without a lot of stuff in it and I had a hard time finding the thing. The perk to having a smaller iPod is that it doesnt take up a lot of space. One of my other gripes is that there is no screen there to tell you what is playing and how much of the battery you have left. All I have on this is the colors of the flashing little light to give me a rough idea. iTunes is easy enough to use but it can take a long time to load one song onto your iPod. That is why I switched to an iPod classic to give me what I wanted and more.
