Pros: Great sound, lightweight, easy to use, small, and simple to operate. Good value. Great started ipod for kids or adults. Love the simplicity.
Cons: Cant see name of song or audiobook chapter number. On: 2008-11-12
Apple iPod Shuffle 1GB blue Gen2.
This was a gift for my wife, that couldnt wait till Christmas. Shes used my ipod and the kids as well, but when I asked if she wanted one it was always "Id never use it! dont waste the money on me (etc, etc, ad nausium).
Once she had it in her hand, we hear a single repeat of the standard spiel. From that point forward, we have to tap her on the shoulder to get her attention when shes in the kitchen, or doing housework, or playing in her flowers, or reading a book and sometimes when were watching a movie.
For someone who JUST didnt need or want one, this has been the greatest Gift Hit the kids and I have ever scored.
At to the ipod itself, its simplicity to load and maintain, the battery holds a more than adequate charge and even Sylvia, the Non Computer Literate Nurse can load her selection, both automatically and manually via iTunes on her mac. This woman knows how everything inside your guts works (nurse) but shes lost with "mechanical" devices, but THIS one is intuitive and she simply loves the thing.
I should have gotten one for her when the kids and I got ours (equally utilized). I cant say how pleased I am with her reception of the little music player! On: 2008-11-11
I have certain essentials for the gym....good shoes, comfortable sports bra, a good water bottle, and my Shuffle! It is lightweight, holds all of my favorite work out tunes, and the battery lasts forever! The controls are easy to use, and I can clip it wherever is most convenient whether running or doing weights...awesome! On: 2008-11-10
I bought it for my little sister whose 12. Its perfect for her cuz its small and simple. I have one too and I really like them. On: 2008-11-05
I bought my first in September of 2007. It lasted six months before it died. I sent it in, it was repaired. In the meantime, I received one for my birthday as requested, as a back-up. The original that was fixed conveniently died in October of 2008, after it was out of the original warranty. And just this week, five months after purchasing the second one, IT died. I now have no back-up until this one is repaired. The first one is now junk, and the second one probably wont last through the original warranty period. The original cost $79 and lasted a year. The second had been reduced in price, but it wont last a year. Therefore, $130 for 18 months. I expected more from Apple. On: 2008-11-02
I bought this iPod so I could listen to music while I work out. Its perfect for that, because it weighs nothing, clips to my T-shirt and I get to listen to what I want instead of the stuff proffered by the gym. But I have also found myself using it in other contexts. I recently travelled across the country, and the process of waiting in airports and on the plane was made much more pleasant by having my iPod Shuffle with me. These little guys are addictive! On: 2008-10-30
I purchased this shuffle specifically to go with a new head set made by Arriva. The shuffle fits directly into the wrap around ear buds - no wires, weighs almost nothing. It plays for longer than expected without recharging. On: 2008-10-30
As one of my concessions to the state of the environment, I now commute to work on Sacramentos Light Rail. It is crowded, noisy, and chaotic. Until I insert my purple iPods earbuds. I spend the next 45 minutes with Aerosmith, the Judds, Melissa Etheridge, and Brooks and Dunn. I love this little piece of technology. On: 2008-10-25
My ipod shipped fast and worked great. It is soo handy and tiny. I would reccomend this seller to anyone! On: 2008-10-24
I used to use a 30g ipod and a 8g ipod touch but i find that its a lot easier to work out with the shuffle. Since i only use it in the gym, not lcd having an is fine as i put on 50 songs that i cycle through. Wouldnt really recommend for those who want to control what they listen to. More like a clip on playlist. On: 2008-10-24
We purchased the shuffle for our niece for her birthday. I have never seen such excitement. This is an inexpensive way to introduce an 8 year old to the iPod phenomenon and also give her the opportunity to "take good care" of something she values. Also, parents and guardians can only load the type of music that is appropriate for that age group. We downloaded some cartoon soundtracks and a few country songs to get her started. She was so happy. Its fun to see her eyes light up like that. Great investment. On: 2008-10-16
I bought the ipod shuffle for short walks around town (to the grocery store... etc) and its perfect for that. Its light, easy to carry and the sound quality is great. I was worried that I wouldnt like not being able to pick the first song I hear but I keep my list to my 40 favorite songs of the moment and that works just fine for me. On: 2008-10-15
Bought this strictly to take with me to the gym, didnt need a huge fancy one, just big enough to hold a couple of hours of songs and small enough to clip on my sports bra. Also like the fact it was $45 bucks! On: 2008-10-12
Nice little MP3 player. Its tiny and will clip anywhere on your clotheing while working out on the treadmill, but plan on buying a quality set of earphones because the ones that come with it are terrible. They do not stay in if your active at all. On: 2008-10-11
I never had an iPod or MP3 player before so it was all new to me. First I had to have some help getting the box open. Then I needed help on transferring downloaded music from my computer to the iPod. Now that someone helped me, I can do it all and it is all incredibly easy! I love everything about it! I want to show everybody! I love living in this modern day and age where I have traveling information and music! It has opened up a whole new world. Today I ordered 2 more iPods. (Big Smile) On: 2008-10-09
One week after I bought it, it just stoped working and it does not answer anything, the PC doesnt read it anymore it doesnt recharges too. I hope I can fix it. On: 2008-10-04
BACKGROUND: I am an experienced mp3 player user, and my current other unit is a SanDisk Sansa Clip 2 GB MP3 Player (Black). I bought a silver 1 Gb iPod Shuffle primarily to use at the gym; however, I will also comment about general usage as well. This is also the only Apple device that I have owned of any kind.
SETUP: There are two things to note about the setup process for the iPod Shuffle. Neither of them is complicated, but they are annoying. Unlike most other mp3 players that use a mini-USB cable for charging and transferring music, the Shuffle requires the use of a proprietary docking station. As such, I wasnt able to reuse any of the myriad of mini-USB cables that I have from other devices. So you either have to buy a second docking station or take the one that comes with the Shuffle with you for charging away from home.
The other thing about the Shuffle that I found frustrating was that you are limited to using iTunes for music transfer. Further, you can only transfer music from a single computer. This is a very restrictive requirement for such a low end device. Finally, I was surprised by how slow iTunes is. Believe me; the last thing I expected was for iTunes to perform slower (by a significant amount) that Windows Media Player. I am no Microsoft lover or apologist by any means (I actually prefer Linux).
SOUND QUALITY: This is the area where I give the Shuffle its best marks. The sound is great whether I am playing m4p formats from iTunes or mp3s that I have ripped from CDs or purchased elsewhere. It is equal in dynamics and range to my Sansa Clip, and it even sounds good plugged into the AUX jack for my car stereo.
Of note, however, I am not using the headphones that came with the Shuffle. I have never thought of myself as having small ears, but I found that the headphones that come with the Shuffle seem rather large and hurt my ears immediately after putting them on. For my workouts, I am using a pair of Skullcandy Buds Inkd Earbuds - Dark Gray because they are inexpensive, and the in ear style have a secure fit while active. While these ear buds will not win any awards, the Shuffle still sounds good even using these.
USAGE/NAVIGATION: This is the area where the Shuffle is way behind the competition. Without a display, you essentially have one giant playlist that is in the order that you put songs on the device. You can either play straight through the list, or you can "shuffle" your music. However, I noticed that between 30 and minute minutes into shuffling, the first song gets repeated. This was with over four and a half hours of music on the device. Unlike every other CD or mp3 player that I have ever had, I was surprised to find that the Shuffle repeats songs before going through the entire list.
If you decide that want to find a specific song, best of luck to you. You have skip and reverse navigation, and youll need a good memory of what order you synced things to your device. Ultimately it is not worth it to try to use the Shuffle this way. It seems that it is really geared toward the gym/active user who doesnt need a lot of control over their music. With this in mind, I can hardly see the point of even having a unit larger than 1 Gb. It would seem to make sense to have a 512k offering to better match the functionality.
In short, its great for working out, but it would be extremely frustrating to use this as your portable music collection.
OPTIONS: Really, the only option that you have on the device itself is the toggle between continuous or shuffle play. From iTunes, you can update the software for the Shuffle and change a few settings that most people wont alter from their defaults.
COST: You are paying a premium for the Apple name, but you probably already knew that. Creative and SanDisk both have competing offerings with more functionality at a lower price.
CONCLUSION: The iPod Shuffle as an expensive offering that really only makes sense to a specific subset of mp3 player users. While the sound quality is good, it is really only for brand loyalists looking for a player to use at the gym. On: 2008-10-03
I purchased this player strictly for use with audiobooks. It is the first iPod I have owned. It is very easy to use. At first, I used the provided ear buds but find that outside noise during my train commute was too distracting so I purchased over-the-ear Sony headphones and all is well. Tow related complains...I may be wrong about this but it seems that the iPod will only charge through my PC when I also start the iTunes software. However, doing so forces a sync between the player and the shuffle. Sometimes, unpredicably, this syncing looses my bookmark, i.e. the positon where I was in the audio book when I last listened. I never play the audio books through my PC, so the sync-ing shouldnt effect the bookmark. Once a bookmark is lost, finding your way back to your last position can be frustrating, particulary with larger books that are spread across several files. One work-around might be to only load up one file at a time and I may consider doing that. Overall, though, its a great little device at a good price. On: 2008-10-03
En mi caso he comprado el Ipod shuffle para utilizarlo con una dispositivo para nadar, todo esta muy bien.
Toda la compra ha salido muy bien, todo en orden y en la fecha que se comprometieron. On: 2008-10-03
I love the ipod shuffle. Its convenient and easy to carry around while working out. It clips right on to whatever you want to clip it to like your shirt or pant pocket. On: 2008-09-30
My 7 year old grandaughter loved this tiny little IPOD. The price was so good, it wont matter if she loses it! On: 2008-09-30
This was a gift for my 11 year old daughter and she loves the color and loves the fact its so small and compact. On: 2008-09-29
The ipod shuffle is great, small, compact and it fits a lot of music on there (I got the 2G) but the earbuds are not great. I had an older ipod shuffle (that I lost, its tiny size a distinct negative at that point) and the earbuds that came with that were much clearer.
The ones that came with the 2G shuffle are somewhat tinny and muffled. Will probably go with another brand of ear buds to get better sound quality.

I have purchased three of these 2nd generation shuffles. All three have had the same, exact problem, and none of them work, even though Ive only owned them a month. I bought them for myself and my two kids. They worked at first, but upon charging, updating software, and adding songs, they inevitably had some sort of software problem and quit working. I searched Apples support area, and although Ive now spent countless hours trying to fix my particular problem, I have been unable to even find the problem listed on Apples website, and I am unable to actually speak to a human being about the issue. I will NEVER buy an Apple product again. They have lost me forever. On: 2008-09-23
THIS IS MY FIRST IPOD AND I AM TOTALLY AWED BY IT. THE SOUND IS GREAT
ITS SMALL, CAN TAKE IT ANYWHERE. THE DELIVERY WAS SO QUICK IT WAS
UNBELIEVEABLE. BOUGHT THEM FOR MY GRANDCHILDRED, BUT ITS NEW TO ME
AND IM SORRY I WAITED SO LONG TO GET MYSELF ONE. On: 2008-09-21
[[ASIN:B0012LWG9O Apple iPod shuffle 2 GB Silver (2nd Generation)]
Love the ease of downloading compared to the first generation of shuffle. Its light for running and holds sufficient amount of music. On: 2008-09-20
This is the perfect player for running. It clips on to anything, holds a lot of music, and is easy to change volume or songs while running. On: 2008-09-20
i have all different sizes of ipod but this is the bomb. its great to have to work out with. dont even know its on my body. i can put it anywhere!! great product and would recommend to anyone who works out!! On: 2008-09-18
Its hard to believe that something so small can actually hold 240 songs. Which is way more than I will ever need. And at 46.98 not only is the price very affordable but the sound and quality is excellent! On: 2008-09-18
Great product! Tiny but easy to use. It meets all my expectations. Love it! On: 2008-09-18
I have never had an IPOD before and this little wonder fits just right around my neck during my work day. It is awesome! On: 2008-09-15
The apple ipod silver shuffle is great for what I want it to do...and for the price. On: 2008-09-14
I love my ipod shuffle. The size is amazing, it goes anywhere, the sound is terrific. On: 2008-09-14
If you are considering a first time iPod for yourself or a gift this is it! I found it easy to operate, affordable and great fun! I am upgrading to a large iPod because I loved this one so much. On: 2008-09-10
Best $70 I ever spent. Nice and tiny so wearing while running makes it almost weightless. On: 2008-09-10
This is an amazing little device. Good sound. But the ear buds keep falling out ! On: 2008-09-09
I use this 2gb shuffle for the train ride to/from Chicago - its perfect for my absolute favorite artists (as I dont need to see the song titles, etc.). So light, cant even tell its attached to my shirt collar. Great player for short trips, whereas the 80gb classic is for the long road trips. On: 2008-09-09
I bought this for my wife and she loves it. Small, easy to carry and useful in the office or at the gym. I had problems figuring out iTunes for loading the iPod. Somehow I would add stuff and then go to add more only to lose all I added the first time. I prefer Windows Media Player for music loading but that doesnt work for iProducts. Either way my wife loves it and were thankful we bought the 2GB rather then the cheaper 1GB. With devices out there holding up to 8GM its better to stay away from the 1GB. On: 2008-09-07
I dislike ipod shuffle when I found this on their web site.
Note: iPod shuffle is intended for use with a single computer. You cannot load music from multiple computers or iTunes libraries onto iPod shuffle like you can with other iPods.
The itunes software is very difficult to use for old people, very slow to load music, and crashes often in my windows xp. On: 2008-09-06
Got this for my wife. She loves it , and takes it every where she goes... On: 2008-09-05
The IPOD Shuffle is a gem. Its tiny. Slightly larger than the average wrist watch with a belt clip for convenience. I clip it to my tee shirt during workouts. Sound quality is outstanding, and i-tunes software is easy to understand and use. Store unlimited numbers of playlists in your PC, and use "autofill" to move them into/out of your Shuffle. A charging stand is included. It connects to a USB port on your PC. Ear buds also are included, however, I prefer headphones. The only drawback I see is that the Shuffle is so small and lightweight, its easy to forget youre wearing it, possibly resulting in damage. On: 2008-09-05
I am very happy to have this ipod shuffle. There is nothing else like it! You really get great vitality and fidelity with this quarter sized phonics equipment. I really thrive on the music capability. The product says you can have up to 240 songs. That is based on a four minute song. I have lots of songs under three minutes long, and therefore have almost three hundred songs on it.
I think the most ergonomic, convenient aspect of the shuffle is that attached clip. You can run and hike and even garden without worrying about the shuffle coming off and possibly breaking. Apple came up with a true winner here. With an adapter I can even play my music aloud from my ipod speaker. On: 2008-09-05
I am extremely pleased with my Apple Ipod Shuffle. Good sound, easy to use and very light weight. On: 2008-09-04
This is the third MP3 player I have owned. I had a 128MB Nike/Phillips for about 3.5 years before it finally kicked the bucket. I replaced that with a 8GB Creative Zen Microphoto. The ZMP was nice but I really wanted something that would be better for running/lifting/biking.
I was deciding between this and the Creative Zen Stone which was slighly cheaper at the time. I ended up going with the ipod because of the metal casing and the built in clip. I have really enjoyed the purchase and would definately buy another one if this ever broke.
PROS:
- Size: it is small enough that it doesnt take up much room and you definately dont notice the weight at all. At the same time, it is big enough that the buttons are easy to find without having to lookdown or "search around" with your fingers.
- Clip: I had armbands for both my Nike ZMP players which I wasnt to wild about. Armbands arnt bad if you are running or biking, but they can be a annoying when you are doing upper body lifts. The clip eliminates this problem.
- Memory: I find 1GB to be the perfect size. You can fit 200-250 songs which keep me entertained for a couple battery lives before I feel like switching them and giving myself something else to listen to.
- Build: The metal case is very nice looking and quite strong as well. I have dropped this sucker more than I would like to admit and it has never been a problem. Heck, I even dropped it into a sink full of water and it still works perfectly.
CONS:
- Shuffle. I dont know if it just me but it seems like I will hear some songs about 4 or 5 times before I hear some other ones. Not a big deal at all, dont let it discourage you from purchasing this, but if it were more balanced I would be even happier. On: 2008-09-02
The shuffle is perfect for my needs. Im a potter in a shared studio. Need something very small that wont fall into the clay. I really like Apple products. On: 2008-09-02
I-pod was in great shape and looked like new even though i ordered for a refurbished piece. On: 2008-08-31
I really like the shuffle. I had a Nano. When trying to change the song while running, changing the volume was difficult. It tended to FF or REW easily. Maybe if I wasnt concentrating so hard on just breathing!!! I gave it to my husband. The shuffle clicks vol. UP and DOWN. I like being able to clip it to my shirt or sportsbra and not having a band on my arm. I set my Nano on the treadmill and now it skips. I was told by a friend that when she asked apple about the same problem it messes up the hard drive from being jarred like that.

I bought two IPOD shuffles. One for my husband and one for me. My teenage grandson labored for days to get just the music we wanted on it. he succeeded and it has been a joy to me. I use it at work, where I am the data entry manager, and it is wonderful to help the hours go by. It was a wise purchase. My husband uses his on the riding mower and he loves it too

This has been a great little iPod. I recommend it to anyone who wants a good mp3 player to jog with or just clip on for a long poker tournament. On: 2008-08-29
This is the only I-Pod Ive ever had, and it is fine for me. Im more interested in listening to music than being able to watch videos, so I dont need to have a player with a screen. I know that one GB of space isnt a lot, but it is enough for me. I also love the fact that I-Pods charge on the computer and I dont have to find batteries, like I did for the first couple of MP3 players I owned. On: 2008-08-28
I love my iPod 2GB shuffle! I cant believe I waited so long to get one. It is easy to use, easy to upload my music, so easy in fact that I can do it with my eyes closed! On: 2008-08-22
This is a great solution for when you want something small and have no need for 25,000 songs or video. Its perfect for people who like to listen to music while working out, because it has no moving parts and you wont mess it up by moving around a lot.
I use mine all the time, a lot more than I thought I would. Perfect for non-gym stuff also. So good, Ive actually pretty much stopped using my other iPods entirely. On: 2008-08-19
When I broke my original I-Pod (classic), I thought I would save money and buy this smaller one. Its really cute and perfect for the gym...for about a month until you realize 240 songs really is not enough. You can take off old songs and upload new ones, but this is a pain. My advice is to spend the extra money to get more memory storage. On: 2008-08-18
Always liked these, just waited awhile to get one. Am using it for a special trip later in the year, and wanted a predominant music theme.
Works great while working out! On: 2008-08-17
I received my order on time, in good condition, and it was exactly like the picture showed. On: 2008-08-13
I own a bunch of iPods, and like them all. The shuffle is perhaps my favorite because it is so small and simple. I used it whenever riding my bike, walking to the coffee shop, etc. Sadly, my first shuffle died after 18 months of use. It began acting flakey (only playing 1 song on the playlist over & over) and within a couple of days it was dead. It will charge, but cant play any music. It used to flash yellow "error" lights, but it wont flash any lights any more after the initial "green = power on" light is displayed.
Anyhow, I ordered another because it is an unbeatable companion during 6-hour bicycle rides, but I hope this one lasts at least a couple of years.
I give this a 5-star for the product design, 1-star for durability. Average = 3 stars. On: 2008-08-13
I started working out again recently and purchased one of these to take along to the gym, on walks and other activities where I would like music without having to carry a big player.
It is perfect, light and small with good battery life and sound. It does not have some of the features that my other iPod has, but I knew that ahead of time and wanted this because of its size.
I load up a string of songs from some playlists and I am good to go for quite awhile. On: 2008-08-13
Got this for my little sister because shes too young for an expensive larger ipod. She loves it & it serves its purpose. On: 2008-08-11
My husband was wanting an mp3 that he could stick in his pocket and this one goes one better - he can clip in on the sleeve of his t-shirt while out and about. He loves it! On: 2008-08-06
Ive been buying mp3 players ever since my first player, an Intel audio player, back in 2002. I bought a first gen Ipod shuffle when they came out and hated it. The thing locked up and the firmware went dead within the first month. Not a good introduction to Apple ipods.
But I decided to give the Shuffle one more try after getting a Nano, so I picked up one. These second generation Shuffles are a big step up from the first ones released, and at a decent price.
Pros:
1 gig is at the lower end of storage, but you can still carry around a ton of songs with it.
Shuffle mix option should be a must for all players. Who wants to have to scroll through every song in the list every time?
Audio quality is improved from the first gen models.
Small and even more compact than most other mp3 players, plus the belt clip is a nice addition.
The price is great for a ipod model, even if it is only the size of a quarter.
Cons:
As with all Shuffles, there is no LCD screen, no way to SEE what song is listed or use volume meters. That also means no video, no photos, no games. But considering its size, its too much to ask for a unit this small.
A few minor volume issues. Its difficult to set the volume properly before you plug in the headphones, so in case you somehow set the volume level really loud the last time you used it, you really wont know how loud it is the next time until you plug in the phones and listen, which can be disturbing when youre expecting a nice quiet tune and it comes blasting out into your ears.
Itunes. Period. My Nano was compatible with several 3rd party transfer programs, but for some reason Itunes is the only one that seems to work for the Shuffle. Itunes has horrible sync rates and I just dont like the settings or really anything about Itunes. But this is more a gripe about Apples software rather than the player itself.
Overall the second gen Shuffles are a very decent entry into the ipod family. Good sound, good price, good size, and so far its been very reliable with no firmware or hardware troubles. Very recommended for the casual user or even as a backup for the bigger, badder units.

It is good and nice. If you want a simple mp3 player and want to use it while travelling or working, ipod shuffle is a best choice. Its hook is useful for me as i use it when i am in gym. On: 2008-08-04
We purchased two of these from Amazon based on the reviews. Loading the itunes software, buying tunes from the itunes site and moving stuff off our existing cds to the ipod were a breeze. Everything was great until we wanted to synch to a different laptop. Then we realized that itunes on the new computer couldnt see the contents of the ipod at all! Sure itunes itself could see what we purchased from the site, but all the other stuff we downloaded from our own library was essentially non-existent. There is information on how to move songs from one computer to another using the ipod as a harddrive but you need the old computer and new computer at hand to do that. If I had the old computer to synch with I wouldnt need to synch to the new one now would I?
I cant understand why when you have itunes loaded on two computers you still cant move the ipod from one computer to the other and see what songs are loaded on the ipod. These ipods are rated very highly but more than likely from users who have one computer and never change to another computer. I wouldnt buy these again. Id stick to the MP3/windows devices that work off of standard computer protocals. This Apple stuff is very quirky to work with unless you are 100% apple. They definitely march to their own drummer. On: 2008-08-04
This IPod shuffle is excellent. I encountered some growing pains initially with it, but once under way there were no further issues. It is very convenient and easy to work with and simple to recharge. I would concur more with favorable comments compared to average ones. A good buy, I would recommend it. On: 2008-08-01
Im enjoying my IPod Shuffle. Its so small its best if used in a holder of some sort (cordless headphones or wrist band). On: 2008-08-01
Everytime I order from Amazon.com it is wonderful. I get my products on time and in excellent condition. I have been ordering for about 2 years now and would not change ever. Great job. On: 2008-07-30
Apple iPod shuffle 2 GB Blue (2nd Generation) Product was just great, plays nice and easy to load... On: 2008-07-30
I already own an 80GB video Ipod. I bought the shuffle to hold a few hours worth of music and to be extremely light and portable. It does all of that, along with excellent battery life. When I have this strapped on my shirt or pants when I working out, I can barely even tell it is there. I also use it when I am traveling on my motorcycle, I just clip it onto my tank bag and I can even use the controls with my gloves on. I did buy my own pair of headphones though. On: 2008-07-26
The shuffle is great. I received it as a gift and intended to use it mainly while running. It has worked out perfectly - so lightweight - easy to adjust volume and to switch to next or previous selections. Music sounds fine to me although I am not an audiophile and while running am not focused on perfect sound. Earphones that come with the unit are fine. On: 2008-07-25
My daughter wanted a iPod shuffle to wear during track practice and so I bought her the blue one she requested. Its been great not only for track, but also for in the car when shes tired of listening to Moms music. Using iTunes has been easy and shes also added on songs from her own CDs. Overall a great little music player for the price and from companies that in my opinion have great customer service. (Amazon & Apple) On: 2008-07-24
This little device is amazing - so small and yet it holds hundreds of songs - and so easy to use On: 2008-07-24
Its excellent for exercise. Sometimes Id like to be able to search out a certain album or song a little more easily, and I wish it would turn off after a set amount of time (like at night), but overall its a very nice little ipod. I definitely didnt need to get one of the big ones. For those people who have something against shuffled music, know that it can also just play through everything in order from start to finish. You just have to update the music on it more often than on a regular ipod to make things more easily accessible. On: 2008-07-22
When you consider the Sansa Clip 4GB has twice the storage for the same price, trading the OLED display for an Apple logo makes no sense whatsoever.
NOT recommended. On: 2008-07-21
If you like to listen to music while you work out or jog, this wonderful device is absolutely essential, especially if you dont want to lug around a portable cd player or a larger Ipod. You can fit over 200 of your favorite songs on the shuffle. Furthermore, at the bargain price of $49, this is a really good value. On: 2008-07-20
It would be hard to review an item that I never received. The seller of this item is a scam artist. He took my money and never sent the product. On: 2008-07-20
This was a birthday gift to myself, I filled it with gospel music and listen to it at work and when I go for walks. Its great, and easy to use. On: 2008-07-18
Does what every other mp3 player should and its surprisingly small.
However, The software for this iPod has a terrible USB driver for Windows. Lets put it this way: to transfer music from my PC to the iPod, I have to unplug my USB mouse connected in another, completely unrelated port. Naturally, Im not the only one with this problem. (I found this solution after 5 minutes on Google)
The hardware is ok, but I would avoid iTunes at all cost. (Search for alternatives, there is plenty of them)

I find the iPod Shuffle is perfect for the gym where it clips easily on a shirt - no carrying case required. Its tiny but holds more songs than Ive ever needed to put on it at any one time. For people like my friend who keeps his entire music collection on his iPod, the little Shuffle just wont do. But I only change my playlist occasionally, or sometimes listen to an audio book or a podcast, and I can keep everything on the original CDs or my computer and change it as often as I want. Creating playlists and uploading music using the computer interface is quick and easy. It has only 2 modes - either play the tracks straight or shuffle them, and the buttons are easy to use even without looking. A single charge seems to last nearly a month for me - but Im mainly using it at the gym.
The tiny size is nice, but it has its drawbacks. My kids have an adapter that plugs it into my wifes car, and when its separated from the headphones its so small that Ive lost it around the house several times. The kids have left theirs in jeans pockets, and they dont survive a trip through the washing machine. The little earphones produce great quality sound, but theyre not particularly long-lived (my first pair blew a speaker after only a couple of months but the iPod store in the mall gave me a new pair for free - otherwise replacements are $30).
But overall, I love it. It makes that half-hour on the eliptical go a lot faster. Its amazing to compare it to the Walkman with cassette I had in the early 80s - a huge improvement. On: 2008-07-18
My wife loves her new shuffle. It has more room for more songs and that is exactly what she wanted. She has had absolutely no problems with it. On: 2008-07-17
Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Blue (2nd Generation) The I pod shuffle is great for jogging with. It clips to your clothes, it is so light you hardly know it is there and the control buttons are large and make it easy to pause or skip a song without looking at the player. It holds a charge for quite awhile and holds a couple of hours worth of songs. On: 2008-07-17

Love my new Shuffle--and its pretty besides. Good price. Good service as always, from Amazon. On: 2008-07-15
I purchased an Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB for my husband because he does landscaping and I thought he might like to listen to music while he works. He loves it! It holds over 200 songs and the battery lasts forever! It is very simple to use and we dont have to worry about him dropping it, it is a very hardy little machine. It even clips to his shirt pocket. And the music is crisp and loud. Im ordering me one for taking to the gym, my husband wont share his :-) The only thing he complained about was the headphones that came with it, they wouldnt stay in his ear and couldnt compete with the sound of his mowers. We bought a better headphone set, problem solved. We love this thing, we arent teenagers so we dont need the fancy videos and such of the more expensive ones, this one serves its purpose for us and we love it! On: 2008-07-14
The 2nd generation iPod shuffle was a surprise - everything was well packaged and looked new. I gave it to my son on July 10 to celebrate his 21st birthday and he was positively ecstatic! Now I cant get him to do anything; all he has been doing since then is sourcing the right music for his new toy - he even put aside his Playstation 2 which I thought was his life! Thank you, amazon.com personnel - I continue to have faith in you....

I love the small size and that its a 2GB! So easy to use and I havent even filled it with half the capacity!
After setting up your iTunes account, you literally just plug it in and go. (But you have to register it too.) Also, I love that it comes already charged. I bought the 1st Generation shuffle and you had to charge it first.
So glad they made it a bigger capacity. On: 2008-07-11
horrible for audio books, frustrating for podcasts. If you do anything other than songs, look elsewhere On: 2008-07-11
I have this Ipod for a little over a month now and absolutely love it, I have listened to it for 8hrs at work and then went home and cut the grass for an hour and a half and the battery never died, I have owned a sandisk and Coby mp3 players and neither compare to the ease of use, sound quality, or the wearability that the Ipod Shuffle offers!!! On: 2008-07-09
Ive owned my silver iPod Shuffle (G2) for about a year and a half now, and have used it extensively. I primarily use it when working out, and love the unassuming size and weight of this mp3 player. It holds enough music for more than one workout, and the battery seems to last forever! It is so light, I just clip it to the silver chain I wear around my neck and it pretty much stays out of the way. Its heavy enough not to flop around, but light enough for me not to really notice it. I dont need a screen on it to show me the song/etc., because I know whats on it and where it is in the loop. My biggest complaint is with the headphones. I would have liked to see Apple include a more workout-friendly and comfortable set of earbuds. But with the new price for this, it is a GREAT value and you can pick up whatever headphones work best for you. I bought my wife one from Wal-Mart for $49, and it came with a $15 iTunes gift card!
Tip: set it for circular play and not shuffle, and you can easy move through songs to the one you want. On: 2008-07-07
Bought this for a friend only to find out in months time the battery
doesnt charge right!
When I informed Amazon and the seller who sold it to me they refused to do anything about it.
They suck dont trust them and get stuck with a malfunctioning I-pod. On: 2008-07-06
If you like music when you workout, this is the player for you. Its VERY small, so its easy to clip onto your shirt or hat. No need for the armband or any of the extras.
Controls are simple. If you have iTunes, getting music on and off is simple. And even the 1GB is enough for 250 songs, which is plenty to keep most people entertained.
Sure, it doesnt have some of the features as other players. No screen, no FM radio, no voice recorder. But it has what I need, which is great for me.
Headphones, like the rest of the ipod headphones, are no good. Invest a few bucks there and youve got a winner.
Bottom line-- I love this thing. In fact, I have pretty much stopped using my iPod Classic since this handles everything I need so well. On: 2008-07-06
This Ipod came SUPER-FAST! I like to use it while running. The clip stays tight and is very convenient. Holds a good charge and comes with everything needed to start playing music right away. Would have been five stars, but it can be purchased pretty much everywhere for the same price. On: 2008-07-04
For my wifes birthday, I got her a purple Ipod Shuffle (1 gb) and gave her my Grado SR 60 headphones for stationary listening (the stock ear buds are for on the go--we do need something better, though). She loves the Shuffle. It is tiny, clips on to a shirt pocket or collar, and holds a lot of tunes. As many are now eschewing full length CDs for downloaded singles, one can pick just the songs that one desires. Nice. In an informal survey in one of my classes, almost all of my students preferred downloading what songs they wanted and had pretty much stopped purchasing regular cds. I still buy cds--regular and SACD--but Im used to buying albums, not singles (okay, when I was a kid, I used to buy 45s).
The Ipod shuffle is easy to use. It is highly portable and small. The sound is adequate. One could use a headphone amplifier and better headphones, but that just takes away from the portability. The Shuffle sounds pretty good with Grado SR 60 cans (but they are big and the cord is rather too robust). Anyway, my wife is happy (and thus, so am I).
You cant go wrong with the Ipod Shuffle. It looks good, sounds good, and is easy to use. Now, I just wish that I had sprung for the 2 gb version. Cest la vie. On: 2008-07-02
Its Great for an Ipod this Small, If you need to do exercise, this is the ipod for you. On: 2008-06-27
Let me first say that I love this shuffle - it is perfect for moving around the house or taking a walk while being able to listen to tunes or podcasts. Sure, it doesnt hold as many songs as the big guys but for my use its great. And when I get tired of the songs I am listening to, then I just go on to itunes and change them. No muss, no fuss.
The problem (and hence the 3 stars) was because the battery wasnt holding a charge even when I turned it off. Sometimes I only use it once a week and everytime I went to use it, the battery was dead. So I phoned Apple and their customer service is most excellent. They said that the battery should be holding its charge and they would send me a new one. They put a hold-charge on my credit card for the new one and once I returned the old one, they would cancel the charge. They sent the new one within a couple days with an easy return envelope (they paid all the shipping). Havent had a problem yet with the new one but I have only had for a few days. Question is: does Amazon sell inferior products or was this just a fluke? On: 2008-06-27
I bought the Shuffle after I lost my regular Ipod. I didnt want to pay 250$ again, so I got the 1 GB for 50$. Ok it sucks that it doesnt have a display screen for song names, but for that little money, its a winner, especially that you can put all of the music you bought from iTunes. The sound quality is good, its tiny so you can just put it in your pocket without feeling it, and you can clip it onto your clothes during your workout. On: 2008-06-26
I love the shuffle. I gave it to my husband for a gift because he is technically challenged and it is perfect for him. On: 2008-06-23
Great little product that you can tuck into any pocket. It holds enough music for me to listen to. I just wish it included the accessory to hook up to my car too, but for the price, Im not expecting much. It works for me! On: 2008-06-21

I put 280 of my christian songs in the shuffle and I still have room for
more.Great little device though ear buds a bit tinny. Fixed that with some bass enhanced ear buds. On: 2008-06-20
This player cant be beat for its specific purpose--to be light, reliable, and easy to use. And the capacity is more than adequate with the choice of 1 or 2 GB. Other devices are competitive in price or capacity, but if you are already buying music through iTunes, this is the choice for active use. On: 2008-06-20
I didnt buy this but got it free with a class. I looked at it awhile and thought about selling it on Ebay and then decided to open it. I mean, I have two 2 gig mp3 players, an 8 gig, a 1 gig, plus an old old 15 gig original IPOD. So I need another one like I need another remote control for something.
First of all, before the kudos, I will never buy anything ever again made by the Apple Corporation if I can get out of it. They are an elitist, over-rated, snotty company that makes nice-looking stuff that is ridiculously over priced on the romance of first release....(Um, did you buy one of the first IPhones? Did you wait in line and pay full price? You disagree with me?)
I plugged this little purple square IPOD into my aluminum G4, and guess what? It wont work with a 2000 dollar aluminum G4 laptop unless I
1) Upgrade my memory ($300)
2)Upgrade my X operating system ($149)
Total Cost to plug in a free IPOD Shuffle into a 2002 G4 Powerbook: $449.00
So in order to get my cute little free IPOD shuffle to work on my APPLE thats what I would have to do. What a joke. (Apple cares about its historical client base, doesnt it? Come on... there is a reason they have such a minuscule PC base...)
So no problem however, I just plugged in my bought off Ebay $158.00 dollar Pentium II 1997 laptop running windows XP and of course the latest greatest IPOD will work with this machine running 128k memory etc.
There are only two commendable aspects of this postage stamp-sized mp3 player. It is tiny and it clips onto your shirt. I commend Apple for providing a clip. While it is no more innovative than a hundred year old tie-clip, they put it on a sensible device. Sansa and Creative should follow suit. (Of course, the lame ear buds that came with this Shuffle have too short a cord to put in your pocket, so you even HAVE to use the clip!)
As for the user experience? Itunes is a joke but its all you can use with the Shuffle. No drag and drop of mp3s outside of Itunes? And they are a smart company?
The IPOD Shuffle is not even worth $49.00. No screen. Proprietary. Loading files through Itunes is about as rewarding of a user experience as Windows 3.1 File manager.
I wouldnt recommend this even to the snobbiest Luddite educator in Manhattan.

I bought this as a gift for my son (hes been wanting one for quite a while) and he loves it! He has downloaded tunes from I-tunes as well as from CDs we have at home. I have not used it myself, so dont know how easy the controls are, but he hasnt had any difficulties. On: 2008-06-19
great little ipod.....holds about 240 songs which is plenty for what it is used for. Difficulty figuring the loading at first, but that is because we were trying to make it harder than it was. I would buy this again in an instant. On: 2008-06-19
Product was fine. Delivery date was changed after order was placed and arrived too late for the event it was needed. Had I known this upfront, I would have gone to my local Apple store and purchased it there. On: 2008-06-18
I liked the IPOD,very easy to use and operate but I was very disappointed in the head set. They are very uncomfortable. I was surprised that Apple missed that part. I would recommend the IPOD but buy another head set to go with it. On: 2008-06-17
I bought this shuffle because I was amazed at how small it was. The sound from this little device is very good, although it doesnt have as good of bass or depth of clarity as a portable CD player has. The standard bit rate recommended for the shuffle is 128 kilobytes/second. But me being the audiophile that I am, 128 kbps is not good enough. I used Windows media player to rip my CDs at 1,411 kbps(WAVE files), which the shuffle supports, and then I imported the files into iTunes. I went to all the trouble of naming each individual song file and importing them, but when I thought I had imported them, iTunes came up with an error popup window randomly on random songs saying that the file was lost, when I tried to sync them to the shuffle(some ended up on the iPod.) I got so frustrated because I had spent so much time on it, and it seemed like iTunes was just deleting my files from my iTunes library randomly and sometimes the same song over and over again. I am sure that if you are happy with 128-320 kbps that iTunes allows when you directly rip to it, the shuffle works perfectly fine, but all you audiophiles out there, beware! On: 2008-06-14
I bought the ipod shuffle and it was a great buy, if i needed another one i would purchase one from Amazon.com. It arrived quickly, and the price was excellant!! On: 2008-06-14
This is a well designed product:
- small size
- light weight
- durable
- nice earphones
- easily clipable to clothing
- buttons simple enough for the less tech savy
- holds plenty of songs (though even 200 starts to feel a little small)
- MOST IMPORTANTLY: this is a gift that is appreciated by people of all ages! Once you load the right music, this is a perfect music player gift.
Issues:
- no way to swap between playlists. But this is a minor issue and support for this would probably sacrifice the devices simplicity.
- for those who dont always have access to computers or travel a lot, I recommend you by a USB wall charger (I bought the Coby CA-80: a bit large but it does the job)
Enjoy!

I use my shuffle mostly when cleaning house, working out in the garden, mowing the lawn (a 3 hour task), and occasionally when relaxing after my chores are done. The 2 GB capability is more than enough for my average music needs and the handy clip feature allows me to tuck the shuffle safely inside my clothing (yes, to my bra) away from dust and dirt. I am able to work outside most of the day for several days with no battery shortages. After a few hours of wear, the ear buds become uncomfortable, also they do not block out the noise of the mower. I solved this by purchasing a bud designed to fit comfortably in smaller ears, which also allows me to listen to music when mowing.
The sound quality is excellent and installing music from my itunes was a breeze. There is no display screen or menu, but those are frills I would not use enough to consider paying extra money for. The 2 GB Shuffle is perfect for my needs. On: 2008-06-13
works really well and the sound is great. This is my first ipod because I thought I was to old (60)to learn something new but turns out, it was a lot easier than I thought! I have had many hours of enjoyment picking out my oldies music. I would recommend it for anyone young or old! On: 2008-06-12
Ive long thought about buying an iPod, but the price always held me back. When Apple recently lowered the price of the shuffle, I jumped. But I did spend a little extra and buy the 2 GB model. I mean, for $20 more, who wouldnt?
This model actually allows you to input 1.89 Gigs of music. Why the difference? Because the iPod needs some space for the software. Depending on the size of the songs, that translates to roughly 500 songs. The first time around, I got 498 songs on it, and I had three 11 minutes song included. I just reloaded and got 528 songs on. I did use a different computer (although it had to erase everything because it only connects with one computer at a time), but it looked like it grabbed shorter songs this time.
The iPod comes with everything you need to get started. Youve got the device itself, the ear bud headphones, and the docking device. You use this device to connect your iPod to your computer. While connected, you can load songs from iTunes and charge the device.
And thats one of the weaknesses of the device (and Apple in general). You can only load songs from their music player. Fortunately, anyone can download iTunes from Apple for free, so that isnt an issue. But it would be nice if it worked with other programs. Additionally, you must plug it into a computer to charge it.
Loading songs is pretty straight forward. You can either create a play list for it to load or have it load up random songs.
The device is small and lightweight. But what I love is the build in clip that allows you to attach it to any article of clothing. I bought it mainly to use while running or working out. Its perfect for that. Just clip it and forget about it. And, at half an ounce, it is so lightweight you dont even notice it.
The controls are well laid out and easy and obvious to use.
My biggest complaint is one I knew I would have before I bought it. If youve put one song on the iPod and decide that is the one you really want to hear, good luck finding it. There is no screen. You can tell it to play in shuffle or in playlist order. But you have to skip tons of songs to find the one you want.
The battery lasts about 12 hours. And with 500 songs, you get over 30 hours of music. So you really dont need all those songs since you could just pick different songs every time you charge it. The only time it indicates battery strength is when you first turn it one, which seems strange. If you dont check as soon as you turn it off, you might turn it on some time to find it is out of juice.
I also wish the noise level was standardized. I have to adjust the volume on practically every song.
So do you really need the added storage capacity of the 2 GB model? Thats for you to decide. But if you just want something to play a few random songs for you while you do other things, this is a great model to get. On: 2008-06-12
As expected; recent on timely basis and in perfect condition. Also purchased wall plug-in charger for iPod. On: 2008-06-12
I love my purple Apple ipod. It works great. It is so easy to use. The sound is great. On: 2008-06-09
I bought this for my Mom for a Mothers Day gift, she loved it and said it works great. On: 2008-06-09
This little ipod has made life more enjoyable. I already own a 20gb ipod that worked well, but I was tired of carrying that brick around... especially at the gym. The shuffle is so light it clips on my clothes and I cant feel its weight. Only drawback that I can think of is the connection would not allow to use it with some FM transceivers in the car. Wonderful technology for $50. On: 2008-06-08
The functionality of this small player away from the computer is great... Strong battery life, simple buttons, built in clip, econimical size, etc. However, the fact that you must se iTunes with this player only decreases its overall value. iTunes certainly is much slower than the drag and drop feature that Creative Labs uses and can also be much less user-friendly. On: 2008-06-04
This is my first Ipod, it is great to be able to have all the songs you love to workout with. It is such a small and easy to use music device, I ride a bike alot and the sound is great!!!! I highly recommend this. On: 2008-06-03
This thing is soooo handy. Its uber light and holds a totally decent amount of tunes, especially if you use it for short term things like running or cycling. Obviously you wont use this for transatlantic plane rides since the battery only goes for a few hours, but its a solid supplement to your regular ipod. Definintely worth the 40 dollars. On: 2008-06-03
I bought this for my 9 year old son for his birthday. It is so simple to use and he LOVES it. This is his first iPod and I was glad I started with this one. Great Investment. On: 2008-05-29

i love my shuffle. i used to use my 80 g ipod classic when i walked my dogs but it was always in my way.(even with an arm band, the headphone cord) the shuffle is perfect. great sound, small, clips onto anything. stays out of my way when i have to bend over and still hold onto two dogs. would never give up my classic but for walking the dogs this is perfect especially at this price On: 2008-05-27
I have a regular 40GB iPod, but only about 10GB of songs, and only really listen to about 2GB of them on a regular basis. The regular iPod is therefore a waste for me, uses more batteries, is heavier/bigger, and generally overkill.
I wanted something for my runs, and my old shuffle (which I didnt really like) broke, so I thought I would try this new one as my wife has one and likes it.
This design is superior, the built in clip negates any need for an armband like the old design needed, and it is so small and light you dont even know it is there.
The battery life on it is fantastic - I use it for my walks to and from work each morning, on my runs, and at night when I play poker - and it still lasts about three days for me on a single charge.
I dont use the headphones that come with it, so I dont know if they are any good, and there are some odd volume issues with the unit when you first start it up (that might be a settings issue that Im not aware of - it starts off very low) - but otherwise perfect.
If you dont like listening to the same music over and over, dont care about video, dont care about seeing the song details - then the iPod Shuffle is all you need - and it is inexpensive too - get one. On: 2008-05-24
Its what I expected. Not a fan of itunes, but was aware of the product before getting it. Shipping was extremely fast and it came in good condition. On: 2008-05-22
Ive owned an ipod classic for four years but given the shuffle last Christmas, and love it. Im amazed at how light it is and the built in clip really keeps the shuffle in place. Ive found myself listening to music not only while at the gym but walking to the gym, walking and taking the train to work, when Im waiting at the airport or even while waiting for things like the barber or doctor. Its just so easy to take with me and slip in my jacket or pants pocket when Im not using it. One minor qualm the headphones, while comfortable and easy to keep in place dont provide the best sound quality. When I travel or commute I generally use my bose noise canceling headphones which provide a much better sound especially for bass. However my bose headphones are four times as expensive as the shuffle so Im not complaining much. On: 2008-05-20
Sounds great and is PERFECT for exercising! Just clip it to your clothes, and you dont even know its there. Dont have anything bad to say about it...EXCEPT...I wish it had a radio! But I guess that would only make it bigger! On: 2008-05-18
First off let me say that I purchased shuffles, yes multiple, not for music. Podcasts, speeches and talking books are the reason I own shuffles. The newest generation of shuffles has made it even easier to share audio info with colleagues.
It is really cool. Now when I find a topic on a podcast or a great speech, I can share it with the people that I work with. They can vote for relevance on the topic and we can discuss how to use the information.
I have used the shuffle for music too. I really like the size of the new gen and the quality of sound is very good. An updated set of buds will change the experience altogether.
Nothing, is as cool as a shuffle. Buy one, you wont be disappointed.
Comments are welcome as always. On: 2008-05-18
It is a little device, but works really good.
Battery life good, size good, weight good, not a bad thing to say. On: 2008-05-17
I had an Ipod Shuffle (original white) and found it to be a good running companion. So, when the new model came out which was even smaller, I couldnt wait to get one. They are both excellent players. However, I do have one complaint with the new model: Apple has shortened the length of the ear bud wire. So, I have had to take the old ear buds and use them w/ the new Ipod. On: 2008-05-17
I other mp3 player is a PSP which i could not use while I am working out because its too heavy n big. So I wanted a player which is small and light and can be hooked up anywhere. Ipod shuffle fit my need perfectly. the quality of the product is also awesome. I use ipod for about 2-3 hours a day and the battery lasts for almost a week..I havent found any pain points yet..but as expected, the standard headphones were crappy..go for some good after-market headphones..i suggest V-Moda base freq headphones if u r a base lover. I LOVE iPODS! Have the 5th Gen Video, 2 8GB Nanos 2nd Gen and 2 Shuffles 3rd Gen. This little "mighty mite" has an amazingly long battery life & at 1 gb or 240 songs, doesnt really need screen display and categorization. It is so tiny and easy to wear either hidden or displayed. I usually sleep "in mine" - it runs all nite for 2 nights without recharge (16 - 24 hours!). My 5th Gen Video is good for 6 hours MAX and I never watch or have videos on it, just music. My 2 8GB Nanos get a good 12 hours each. I knew of someone who had 5 shuffles -- one for each category of music, i.e., country, classical, pop etc. you get the idea. I got my last one from Amazon for a GREAT price in the color I wanted and it was SHIPPED quickly in PERFECTLY NEW CONDITION. Dont hesitate, they are fantastic, simple to use and so worth the money. 5 STARS On: 2008-05-16

I had originally ordered an apple ipod from somewhere else-with a screen and a greater memory, but it did not work. This was the replacement ipod, and it seems to work just fine, has sufficient capabilities for my needs, is much cheaper, and is like wearing a microphone-nice and light. On: 2008-05-15

I have now purchased TWO of these and cant get them to charge via my USB connection. The ITunes Assistant has NEVER appeared when I plug it in, so I cant set it properly, anyone have any ideas? On: 2008-05-11
The Apple iPod shuffle 1 GB Lime Green (2nd Generation) is a little small for my taste but the capabilities are good for such a small items. Over all ist a really great mp3 player that is small, convient and works well. For a flashed based player it works well. On: 2008-05-08
The ipod shuffle is definitely the ipod for someone on a budget, and that I am! But it makes it very easy to download and sync music and the digital media doesnt skip like a CD would. It can be taken jogging, skating, hiking, most anywhere. Unlike some of the newer, bigger ipods, the shuffle is reliable. Ive seen many of my friends 80GB ipods go dead in a matter of weeks for no reason. The sound quality really depends on the digital media you put onto it, but the headphones are nice and loud. Its a great purchase. On: 2008-05-08
I resisted buying an MP3 player for some time but now that I have mine I love it. Its easy to use, no signal loss to worry about, holds more music than I would listen to at one time, and easily goes anywhere. I enjoy being able to listen to only the music I want to hear and the clarity. Its simplicity at its best, ideal for my purposes. On: 2008-05-08
I was very satisfied with Amazon as a seller, but very disappointed with Apples I-Pod Shuffle. At best, the instructions were mediocre. It worked fine when I loaded it with my first selection of music - sound quality was very good. The next day when I tried to load a new playlist, indications were that it loaded onto the Shuffle, but I could not get it to play music after that. I followed the online troubeshooting steps a few times without success. I returned the item to Amazon, following their excellent instructions, and my credit was confirmed. A week later I received a very similar MP3 player as a free gift from an office supplier. It is almost identical to the I-Pod Shuffle, the instructions were worse, but e-mail tech support was available and with a few small hurdles, it is perfoming very well. Apple, as well as other companies should be sure that the staff who write instructions understand the product thoroughly and also have a superb command of written English language. On: 2008-05-06
I will say people who like this one are Apple lovers or have simple brains.
This one is durable and has long lasting battery, but all you can do is listening the musci from the beggining to the end. Thats it.
I forgot, you can stop and pause music too.
If you think this is good because of low price, then YP U3 might be better. On: 2008-05-04
I received my ipod before I went into surgery! It was loaded with all my celtic music and soothing songs I know!!! The sound was great. It was easy to have near me! I couldnt have been more happy with it!!!
My honest opinion? Get one!!!! On: 2008-05-02
Just love my iPod shuffle, great sounding and so easy to use, I purchased the iPod so I would enjoy my music while walking my routine and listen to it at the beach, pool, were ever I go. Best purchase I have made in quite a while. Whats the best part, you can download your own music, from CDs, etc. which I have, and being a senior believe me I have a lot of oldies and newies too! On: 2008-04-30
All I needed was something with no moving parts to play the same dozen or so songs over and over for relaxation. Im hoping that it will last a long time. So far, its working fine. On: 2008-04-30
it on time gives and to the product this in good state, asi that all good On: 2008-04-29
I all ready have a larger ipod, but this one is perfect for taking on bike trips or hiking. I hate to take my more expensive ipod with me on trips. This one fits neatly in a pocket and has great playing time. I have used it for 6 to 8 hours and it just keeps going. For the price and how well it works, I would recommend this mp3 player. On: 2008-04-29
I couldnt pass down this offer, and Im glad that I didnt. It was shipped promptly and was pleased with my ipod shuffle when I got it. On: 2008-04-28
Sync sucks! And all other features rock!! It could be great if it had a display. Amazons ship reached the shore on time. On: 2008-04-27
I originally gave the second generation only two stars due to the pesky "cannot sync" problem, but once I discovered the scroll bar under the settings tab on iTunes, my problem was solved. Now my iPod shuffle is working perfectly and the tiny size is great for clipping to my shirt while running. It is very light and easy to wear. Still cant keep the earbuds in my ears but I guess that isnt uncommon. On: 2008-04-27
This iPod is awesome for when you dont have pockets or just dont feel like carrying a bigger iPod around. It holds about 250 songs so you have a good variety for a week or so before you have to switch the songs up. Highly recommended! On: 2008-04-27
For a user of Windows XP this has been a most frustrating experience. I had the first generation iPod shuffle and had no problems loading music, but with the second generation I followed all the instructions, updated my iTunes software, bought files from the iTunes store and always received the message "Cannot be synced. The required disk cannot be found." What disk? - there isnt any. When I contacted Apple the tech said "I have personally experienced this issue with my own iPod Shuffle" and he suggested a couple things I could try but nothing worked. Too bad for me as I have already given my old shuffle away! On: 2008-04-26
I cant believe something so small can do what this Ipod Shuffle does. Im enjoying using it when i run, walk the dog, or am just cutting the lawn. For $49 its well worth it. On: 2008-04-23
This is actually my second MP3 player. The first was a piece of junk. The shuffle is small and simple to use. I had it playing songs in less than 30 minutes after I got some of my music downloaded to my computer. I am not one of the types that has to see what is playing. I put my shuffle on when I start my workout, push play, lock the keys, and continue with my workout. I just let it go. I did have to buy another type of ear pieces because the ones provided are not very workout friendly. They tend to fall out. Otherwise, I am very pleased with my new shuffle. On: 2008-04-22
this is the SECOND time ive bought an iPod from Amazon and the SECOND time it broke within a few months. guess i shouldve learned the first time. NEVER buy an iPod from Amazon! go to the Apple store. On: 2008-04-22
This is an excellent option for someone going out to exercise. Easy to hit the next song while running, practically weighless. Great battery life so far. If you listen to it on a regular basis and want it for a primary player, go with one with a screen. On: 2008-04-22
Great little piece of machinery. I use it for running, biking, and general random abuse. Just today I washed it with my running shorts, along with my Bose earphones and it not only still works, it responds to its dock quicker than ever. Spin cycle worthy. Get it. (headphones still work too) On: 2008-04-21
This Ipod is great, I am so pleased with it, great sound, it holds enough music for a day worth of a long trip and the battery last for long, long time. Not trying to sound like I am getting paid by Apple to say this but this is really a great product, I love it. On: 2008-04-20
I loved the ipod shuffle so much that I ordered a second one in a different color two weeks later. Fantastic! On: 2008-04-20
My old mini died so I bought this to replace it. Gets nice and loud with good sound quality. Excellent for working out as I just clip it to my shorts (dont waste money on a strap of any kind as it holds plenty tight as is) route the cable through my shirt and shuffle it up. So light you cant even feel it and the controls are easy to use without looking. Its liberating to not have the distraction of something strapped to you arm when working out. Also bought one for my seven year old and she loves it. Cheap enough that it wont kill us if she were to lose it. Personally, Id go for the 1 gig because without a display to navigate with, 2 gigs would seem way overkill. When you get tired of the playlist you have, just change it up in itunes. On: 2008-04-19
This device is for people who cannot find the proper taste in radio stations. Plug this device on, run itunes, in five minutes it shuffles the songs and loads them into your ipod. No nonsense, very practical. On: 2008-04-19
This little iPod is lightweight and super practical!
Its perfect for listening to audio books or motivational tapes whenever youre on the go!
It attaches to any article of clothing so you dont notice its even there.
For the price you cant go wrong! I liked it so much I bought a few as gifts...and loaded them up with some audio books. The recipients loved it!! On: 2008-04-18
No problema at all, great for my daily running training, light, easy to use, great sound, no download problem, just what I want. On: 2008-04-16
Great purchase! Ultra light, compact, batteryt lasts very long, and super resistant for beating it at the gym...
On: 2008-04-15
I bought this for my girlfriend, and she absolutely loves it. It is extremely lightweight, and is perfect for the gym. On: 2008-04-13
Just fantastic. I use it on my bike commute every day. Even when clipped to the collar of my T-shirt, I can barely feel it. Probably not the choice for your only iPod. On: 2008-04-13
I am really enjoying this!! Its great to listen to songs without them skipping (like with my CD walkman), and the controls are easy to use and easy to access. I like the fact that the music "bookmarks" where I leave off, but that I can also go back to the beginning if I want to without a lot of difficulty. So far its been easy to recharge on the computer and to change the song order if I want. I know Im a real novice with these "electronic gadgets", but this has been easy enough for even me to handle! On: 2008-04-13
I bought 1 iPod shuffle for my 18 year old daughter for her birthday. When I received it in the mail and opened the box to look at it before I wrapped it up for my daughter I thought the iPod was missing. My 16 year old daughter started laughing and picked up and handed me the iPod. I thought it was just the belt clip it was so small!! I joined iTunes so she could download music I told her I wanted to check out the quality of sound man was I blown away with the sound quality. As a matter of fact I am going to buy one for myself the sound is that great. Also the price is right I have a mp3 and the difference between it and the iPod is about the same as compairing an
8 Track player against a CD player.

I bought one of these a bit over a year ago now, and have yet to have a problem with it. My model is an older neon green, but Im sure its construction is the same as any of the 1 GBs you can pick up today. I read a lot of reviews for this iPod before I bought mine, many of which claimed that they break very easily or wear out quickly; which made me skeptical. I bought it anyway and am glad I did since I have not experienced either of these things even though Im quite active with it on, although I also take very good care of my toys.
It still works as well today as the day I bought it, and sounds great as well. You cant adjust levels independently like you can with other models, but I havent heard a real reason to since the audio seems to be spot on. Of course I dont use the apple ear-buds that came with it since they werent very comfortable, and that may help a bit.
1 GB is a bit small for most, but I think its just right for me. I really dont see a need to carry my entire music collection around with me, since Id be too busy constantly changing songs or artists to enjoy what was playing. The lack of a screen doesnt matter much either, since its easier to cycle through artists when you sort beforehand and just remember what you put on there. It might be a big deal to some but I really didnt see the point in paying another hundred dollars for a screen when I could just devote some thought to what I was importing...
Its only features are simply a switch that controls whether your songs are in shuffle, or are played in the order you chose on iTunes. Its not much, but it works well and I dont think anything else would really be necessary for a one gig list anyway...
The only problem with it (for some) is that your PC must be up to date enough to run the latest version of iTunes, and to get the most out of it you have to have an active internet connection; or at least access to one to download the iTunes software since it isnt included.
A great product overall, hopefully more colors are introduced soon. Black would be beautiful... On: 2008-04-11
My 1st "pod" and I love it. It couldnt be simpler to use, downloading songs is so quick and there is great sound out of such a small item. I must admit I was wary about getting it, but now I wouldnt trade my "pod" anything! On: 2008-04-11
I bought this for my niece, who absolutely loved it! However, she only had it for about 2 weeks when it fell apart after being placed in the charging station. When her mother went to remove it, the insides stayed in the charging base. Amazon was super! They replaced it no questions asked! I think it may have just been a fluke with this one because I have never had problems with any other IPods I have purchased. On: 2008-04-10
What a big sound coming from such a tiny little thing. Love it !!! On: 2008-04-09
I purchased this mp3 player about a week ago, and was very excited to see a packaged had arrived in only 3 days. The Shuffle is a great way to listen to a smaller selection of tunes on the go. The size of it is simply amazing. (Roughly 1.3 inches wide, 0.8 inches tall, and 0.2 inches thick) The player is so well designed i find myself just looking at it!
Pros
-Compact
-Amazing design
-Easy Use
Cons
-Included headphones have low-end sound quality
-the dock is tiny, but with a foot long cable.
-Recomends itunes, which only sells protected music, making other mp3 players useless to former Ipod users.
-Itunes is very hard to use with slow internet, frusterating to update.
All in all, a great player, but you might want to invest in a new dock/headphones. On: 2008-04-09
I purchased the iPod Shuffle for my nieces eighth birthday. She has been wanting a music player for some time and with the low cost and ease of use of the Shuffle, this was the perfect choice. That it comes in purple, her favorite color, was an added bonus.
The Shuffle is ready to go right out of the box, but it took us awhile to get her CDs and iTunes choices into a play list. For some people, the Shuffle may not hold enough songs, but for her, there was more than enough room to get all her High School Musical and Hanna Montana tunes loaded up. Once that was done, she figured out how to use the Shuffle very quickly, without having to look at the directions (that should tell you how easy it is to use!).
Of course, I had to play with it as well and am now going to purchase one for myself. It would be perfect for taking to the gym. On: 2008-04-08
Pros:
New docking station is well designed.
Separate on/off switch and shuffle/non-shuffle switch.
Size
Cons:
Needs dock to sync and/or add data. Lost the ease of use of the direct USB connectivity the Gen 1 had. On: 2008-04-08
This is the 2nd shuffle Ive bought (1 for me and 1 for my husband). They are simple to use, with extremely simple directions. I am not a tech-savy person and yet I was able to learn how to download music from CDs and from itunes. I use it when I run and am on the treadmill-its superlight and I just clip it to my waistband or stick it in my pocket. I love it! On: 2008-04-07
This ipod is also a clip, so you can clip it onto your shirt, pants, or anything like that. It holds a few hundred songs, has good volume, comes in nice colors, and is great, and compact/small. But a few issues are:
1) Its so small, that it can be easily stepped on, or easily ruined; water is also bad on it, even if its just a tiny bit of water that gets on it, it effects the quality.
2) These only live for about 1 year, while other ipods, last at least 2 or 3.
3) It doesnt have much music space, around 360, while the others have 2000.
4) You also dont get to have the screen, so no videos, podcasts, or games; this isnt an issue, but its a downfall.
5) It can get lost easily.
Even though your not paying too much for this, its still not worth the cost. I suggest getting an iPod Nano 8GB, its more money, but completely worth it. This is a good gift for a young child, but it will not last long, and it has a lot of weak spots that are easily met.
I hope this review helps some, :) On: 2008-04-07
I have many different brands of MP3 players, and I got this one solely for songs that I downloaded off of iTunes (that I couldnt find anywhere else.) It certainly suits that purpose. I am not a runner, but I can certainly see how this size and the clip on the back would be great for that. However, if you dont got to the gym, and youre the "I want to hear YMCA right now!" type of person, youre probably better off with a larger iPod or a different brand of player that has a menu function. I just got a job that requires three hours of driving a day. I love listening to books and podcast of NPR and other news shows in the car. One of my friends showed me his Ipod that he uses on long trips. I loved the simplicity of it. It did exactly what was needed. So I obtained a used one. Each morning before leaving, I load what I want to here for the day. It never takes more then 150 megs, so the 1 gig size is not an issue. I set the extra space for data, it is great for moving files between work and home. Also, I dont understand, but I charged it when I got it, and have used it for two weeks, without recharging it. It is only connected to my computer for 10 minutes each day when I update the content.
I dont know if other players work as well, the controls are very intuitive, the fast forward and reverse are great for books when you want to re-listen to a sentence that was missed due to driving requirements. If you accidentally hit the wrong button and loose you place, it remembers and will go back. A long pause, such as going into a store for coffee, has it automatically going back a sentence. That is nice to jog your memory. It does not need a screen.
The only thing that seems a little funky is the volume control. There seems to be a lag between pushing the button and the change, it takes me a long time to get the volume where I want it. At first, It was either to loud or to low. Now I mastered it.
I never used Itunes before, it seems to work without any problems.
Needles to say, I could not be more pleased with the product. On: 2008-04-06
its small, its cute, perfect to run with, and WAY cheap compared to how much they are in england! yay! On: 2008-04-06
Im the type of person who never needed all of the music in my iTunes library with me at all times, so one gigabyte is perfect. The clip is awesome and I love running while listening to my music. On: 2008-04-05
I am very much satisfied with the product. This is the 2nd such item in our possession. My 10 year old son is thrilled with the first one and we bought this as a gift to a close relation. We are sure they will enjoy it hugely. On: 2008-04-05
This this is great for workouts. Clips onto a hat or your shirt and wont bother you at all. Really nice.
Easy to work with both PC or Mac. Just plug it in, load up iTunes, and youre good. No reason to read a manual or anything. This baby is ready to go out of the box.
The only downside of it, and all ipods, is the headphones. They sound awful. Youre much better off with just about anything. Personally, I like the Bose QuietComfort, but for working out, I just for some of those $20 noise-reduction earbuds that Amazon seems to be selling a lot of. Not the best, but 10x better than the ones that come with the Shuffle.
If youre looking for something to workout with, this is a great one. Otherwise, Id spend a new more bucks and get a Nano or Touch. On: 2008-04-05
My teenagers are both avid runners. They both already had bigger iPods but wanted something smaller and more convenient for running. They specifically requested the iPod Shuffle for Christmas because of its size and the built-in clip. They both really like the iPod Shuffle and use it everytime they run. On: 2008-04-05
I like this player. it is really very small.
Unfortunely the capacity is also small :(
the biggest problem for me is, it doesnt have a display but I know it is designed as a secondary player... Fill it with music you love and enjoy listening ;) On: 2008-04-05
It was a nice experience buying this item exactly how I wanted... enough memory to take to gym or while you are waiting in a line very convenient hide any place. Reasonable price.
I will give 4 and half star ( I wish the clip has faced the other way because some time it is hard to clip without making it to turn off).

I bought this for mt 9 year old daughter and she loves it! I love it too. We now share it-its so nice and small for running, easy to use for my daughter. I totally would recommend this product for anyone that enjoys having their music at their fingertips-literally. Cant beat the price either. On: 2008-04-03

As a music critic and undeniable lover of music, several Ipods of varying capacities that I own including the Apple iPod shuffle 1GB are of the utmost importance professionally and pleasurably as a purveyor of outstanding music of every genre imaginable. When Apple introduced the iPod initially it was not simply a player to me but a conceptual innovation comprising the most technologically expedient ways to organize and listen to entries situated on iTunes. Ipods offer the listener the most expansive and versatile genres and lists of songs anywhere on this planet Earth through their Store. The Shuffle is noted for absolute affordability, the ability to autofill (see the Apple specs for more information), fill with almost three hundred songs and it is lighter than a cereal flake on your plate. The sheer portability of the Shuffle considering its tiny mass is actually to me, its biggest selling feature. On another note, Apple is truly a customer oriented company. This is a conglomerate that could easily stand on its laurels having provided the public with the essense of excellence in portable media that although destined to evolve and change is nevertheless here to stay, and is determined to afford each and every Apple buyer the courteous and unmaginably helpful assistance with their iPod line of products. Whether it is my iPod shuffle 1GB or my 8GB Nano, my general disposition smacks of my New York City upbringing when I say "Where else can you go"?

Great for outdoor running, and for use at the gym. Buyer beware, just watch out for traffic when using during outdoor running/walking. Very happy with the purchase. Now I dont need to worry about securing my iPod Touch for runs, etc. On: 2008-04-02
I just got my iPod Shuffle about a week ago, and Im absolutely thrilled with the purchase. I have a 30g iPod video that I never took running with me - its just too expensive to risk breaking or losing and I hate wearing the armbands. When Apple dropped the price it was the first time I seriously thought about getting a Shuffle for exercising, and Im so glad I did.
2 GB is a wonderful size, I only have 60 songs on my running playlist right now, picking and choosing from my 3500 song library. I know I can add more than 400 more songs, but honestly Im not sure I ever will! The size of the Shuffle itself is great, I clip it onto my jacket or shirt and completely forget its there, it is so light.
I got my Shuffle in green and I love the color, it is beautiful and I dont think Ill ever get tired of it.
The sound is my only issue, it is great in almost every aspect but the bass could definitely be pumped up. If anyone knows a way to turn up the bass on a Shuffle, could you leave it in the comments?
Overall I love this MP3 player as a compliment to my iPod video, and the perfect running accessory! On: 2008-03-30
This was a gift for my sisters birthay & the sound that comes out of this little thing is amazing...... Perfect for her when she runs on the treadmill. Would recommend! On: 2008-03-29
I love everything about my new shuffle. I already have a classic IPOD which I love, but the shuffle is much more portable and convenient. It is easy to change songs, I like to use previously made playlists from my ipod classic. On: 2008-03-29
I am thoroughly impressed with my Ipod shuffle. It holds around 240 songs and who really needs more than that? I listen to it when I am working out or riding along on a long trip. Great addition to my collection of tech toys. On: 2008-03-28
So I got this as a Christmas gift and nobody really knows how much I hate the thing. Why anybody would want one of these is beyond me. You have exactly 2 choices. Option number one is click forward or reverse until you find the song that you want to hear, on a 1GB mp3 player that holds somewheres around 256 songs, you could be clicking up to 128 times (if the given song you want to hear is at the furthest point from where you currently are and if I am really good at math). Your other option is shuffle. Hence the genius name iPod shuffle. "iPod shuffle" does sound better than "iPod press forward a hundred times". The other thing that really sucks is the difficulty involved in just adding a song. Its not like a normal mp3 player, where you just open the folder after you plug it in a click and drag songs in. No, you have to use iTunes and have an iLibrary and stuff. What a hassle, I just wanted to add a couple songs before I went out. Whats with all this work involved, "No I dont want to update iTunes now I have a job to go to." Sometimes I just want to add a song or change something around real quick but its impossible. This whole process is nearly as time consuming as going to the DMV. On the plus side the iPod shuffle comes in a variety of different colors to match the sweater vest you probably put on your dog. On: 2008-03-28
I make full use of my downloaded podcasts, but am extremely annoyed that the shuffle will only play the podcasts in order order of newest to oldest and that it will not recognize the order I set the programs. I have searched the internet for a solution to find out that this is the way the shuffle operates. On: 2008-03-28
I got this because I got sick of carrying my big iPod around when I go running, and it has been the best thing ever. Its tiny, and clips right on to my shirt or shorts, and it looks cool too! On: 2008-03-27
This is a great product and worth every penny. So portable and actually holds more songs than I expected. Great buy and very worth the money!!! On: 2008-03-26
Okay, folks...I actually returned my 16GB iPod Touch to Costco in favor of the Shuffle!
Why? (Enquiring minds `Shirley want to know!) Because, (and heres the irony) you absolutely *could not* operate that puppy by touch! The Shuffle thingy, OTOH, is so simple, so light and so fool proof (but definitely not so-so), with excellent battery life and sound quality--not to mention the ability to operate it by feel in the dark--that, at literally 1/10th the cost ($39--refurbished through an Amazon reseller-- vs $389 for the Touch--Costcos discounted price), I am now, unequivocally, enjoying a superior listening/operating experience (your smileage may vary).
Okay... reality check... Needless to say, the Shuffle holds but a fraction of your hard won (er, stealthily torrented) groovy bits n bytes compared with the Touch and, true, it has no WiFi/browser/high-rez multi-touch/uber-cool screen factor to crow about; on the other hand, it *is* nearly indestructible and perfect for my primary love (drumroll)... Books on Tape.
I now routinely check-out Books on Tape (actually on CD) from my local library and, using iTunes, in conjunction with a $15 dollar shareware audiobook-automating program (called Markable), convert them to a single bookmarkable file. The typical 8 to 10 CD `book, when employing the amazingly high quality default 64KBPS spoken podcast preset (found under the Edit/Preferences/Advanced submenu of iTunes), results in an aproximately 220 to 240 MB file. Ergo, one can fit (aprox) 4 unabridged 8 to 10 disc Books on Tape (er, CD) on ones 1GB Shuffle--and each book maintains its own (unique) bookmark reliably! Of course, you can purchase the same file from [...], but that gets expensive quick.
Turns out the Shuffle is absolutely *great* for working out (especially I find, during one-armed handstand push-ups), driving to work (ironically, I work in a drive-thru) or just puttering around the yard (with my Big Bertha driver). Just click (by feel) the large n tactile central play/pause button and off you go... within seconds youre enjoying that Pee Wee Herman autobiography youd been longing to dig into for so long. You dont even have to turn it off... once paused, after 5 minutes or so, it automatically goes to sleep... to restart, just click twice. The convenient, strong built in clip is great too... I usually attach it to the diamond encrusted LaCoste logos on my polos and it clamps on reliably (okay, okay... theyre Cubic...).
