does not work well when heated up...     On: 2008-06-15

Ive noticed when I watch DVDs during summer, the system has trouble finding chapters or simply playing consistently. I am very disappointed with this player as I expected more from it in terms of reading the content. I should have stuck with my first choice. A pioneer. Never had this kind of trouble with a Pioneer. Blahhh!
Highly recommend this player     On: 2007-12-02

I have this player hooked to the Denon AVR 4308CI receiver running a Sony Bravia KDLXBR 52" 1080P LCD television. All connections are via HDMI.

This has to be the best DVD player I have ever owned. The picture and sound quality are incredible to say the least. I have it sitting next to the Sony BDP-S300 Blu-Ray player. I dont know why I wasted the money on the Blu-Ray. The Denons picture and sound is just as good, if not better than that of the Blu-Ray. In fact, I would say the Denon DVD-2930CI is better!

If you dont mind the cost of this unit, and want what I would consider an incredible DVD player, dont hesitate to buy. And save your money and skip that purchase of a Blu-Ray or HD player if you have not bought one yet. The Denon will do the job plus!
OUTSTANDING     On: 2007-10-20

Fantstic quality picture from your standard DVD the 2930ci uses the Silicon Optix Reon HQV chipset.

HQV Benchmark: The 2930ci uses the HQV video processors (DVD-5910 as well) and what better way to test the 2930CIs de-interlacing, noise rejection, detail level and cadence detection than the Silicon Optix HQV benchmark DVD.

One cable connection     On: 2007-10-20

Visual and audio performance is super. The big attraction for me was the possibility of connecting to the AVR with a single (HDMI) cable. You can add a "D-link" cable (looks like ethernet with a slightly different connector)to send SACD output in native DSD format to a AVR. Both must be Denon, however.

Im not fond of any remote controls, so I wish there were menu navigation buttons on the front panel.
Denon DVD/SACD Player Review and failure     On: 2007-03-28

I had set up the player and once playing a dvd, the screen went to a "BLUE" state. I contacted tech support and after 45 minutes they cam on line and told me it was a bad logic board. I returned it for credit which was cheerfully given. This is much too expensive for this to happen out of the box, expecially for a player that does not play HD or blue-ray. There are much better deals for the money that plays other discs. I found the tech support severely lacking, and would not buy another Denon again. It really is a shame because they have made some great products
