I bought this for my husband for his birthday. Hes a gadget lover! He loves this system! We have both Sirius & an ipod. It works great with both. We had a small cookout w/ some friends & used the system w/ our sirius radio. It worked great. The sound quality is good & we dont have a problem picking up a signal anywhere in our house! One of my main reasons for buying this stereo was for the ability to wake up to my ipod. However, it doesnt work half the time. The directions for wake up to the ipod or sirius are abysmal. They tell you how to program the stereo to wake up, but not what to do with your ipod/sirius. I have yet to be able to figure it out which has left me using my ol phone on through out the night with the volume up. Given my familys penchant for being "morning people" and their love of communication, this means I wake up about an hour earlier than I would prefer everyday. But thats neither here nor there. Just be aware that if you dont care for the alarm then youll like the product. Although it is difficult to get my ipod into the cradle. I had to take off the case I had on it. On: 2008-03-23
We love this! The sound quality is great. We bought it for our sirus radio, we dont have an Ipod so I dont know how it sounds with that. We havent mounted the anntana yet, but we will. Love this product! On: 2008-01-23
Before I get too into this review, I would like to say that this review is about the Soloist Universal Sound System, not the Sirius Service nor about my reception (this rocks for me, but your mileage may vary).. Thanks, now on to my humble review.
I received the soloist to go along with my Stiletto 100, and was immediately put off by the skinny speakers. Im used to having big sounds from bigger speakers, so when I saw these little things, I really expected a tinny, treble sound. I was wrong about this. Maybe it doesnt have the power to shake your house, but its got a full, rich sound that works well for everything from metal to talk radio, with more than enough volume to fill my room, and, if I remember right (Im not looking at it right now) but I believe its got a line out to power your monster system. The Stiletto fits in with a small plastic bit that covers the bottom of the unit as well as holding it in place.
I dont particularly care for the small plastic bits, and Im sure if I *HAD* to, I could find them again, but theyre so easy to misplace..
If I had an iPod, I could connect it to the Soloist, but I dont, so I havent, but its nice to know that I can (if you want to send me an iPod to "test" Ill happily do so, but cant guarantee that youll get it back, call it a donation, Ill agree with you)
Anyway, its also got a line in, and that works nicely for another mp3 player, or, like me, to test an XM radio before I gave it to my dad.
Its also got an alarm, that Ive used on a few occasions, and it seems to work well (I havent been late for work due to the alarm, just my laziness, and obsession with writing reviews for Amazon instead of getting ready for work).
Overall, Im very happy with the unit, and more than a little suprised by the quality of the sound of the device, and would recommend it (and have) to anyone whos got a radio or iPod that fits it. On: 2007-11-25
When I bought these speakers I didnt know that I can use them for my iPod as well as my Sirius radio. The sound quality is great. It comes with everything you need to use your Sirius radio at home. The remote works with both the iPod and Sirius. It can be used as an alarm clock too. I really love this speaker system and would recommend it to anyone. On: 2007-05-31
I was looking for a system that would play my sirius radio and my ipod and i came across this. I read a few reviews and almost everyone had great things to say. The ones who were unhappy were the people who said they were not able to get a siginal.
This thing was easy to figure out how to work. And i dont have any signal problems at all. I made sure the antenna was facing north (as the directions say) and put it on my window.
The sound is great! I was not expecting it to be this good. On: 2007-04-20
All I can say is that I moved that antenna to every location possible and never got a clear signal. Buyer Beware!!! Returned it within 7 days and got my money back. On: 2007-04-19

After getting a Sirius radio for Christmas I wanted to find something to listen to it indoors as well. I searched around for a while and finally came across this product. I love the sleek style of the device and the ability to use this for both the Sirius radio AND my Ipod as well. The ability to use this for both devices would give it 5 stars but I have not experienced any problems with the reception indoors like the other reviewer. I have this on my computer desk where I have problems with cell phone reception but am able to get reception without a problem - I was actually shocked that I didnt have to move the antenna around a lot before I could get it working. The dock wasnt able to get a signal in the office - when I tried to return the unit, I found out there is a "no return" policy! Ive called everywhere, including Sirius, and made no progress. This was from Tiger Direct, by the way.
It was not stated that the item couldnt be returned when I purchased this - so Im obviously not happy. Will buy items locally from now on! On: 2007-01-16
The way I look at this product, is that it serves all the necessary functions of the Stiletto Home Kit, while packing in enough extra features to be worth the extra fifty bucks or so. The biggest feature is obviously the speaker, so you wont have to try to patch your Stiletto through an FM radio in order to be able to listen to it. The other is that it has a link-in for your iPod as well. This isnt just an auxiliary jack to plug your iPod into; it acutally has an iPod docking station, you can recharge and even, it appears, sync up using the attached USB port. That said, there are a few issues that prevent this product from being flawless. It wont funtion as a dock for older Sirius radios; I believe the Starmate 3 is the oldest compatible model. In addition, it cant dock an iPod and a radio at the same time; there are a few awkward and easy to loose adapters that you have to keep on stand by in order unplug and switch between the two; I estimate that switching from a Stiletto to an iPod could take up to five minutes. Lastly, my biggest issue with the device is the remote. Since not all of the functions are buttons on the actual body of the device, if you loose the remote, you will no longer be able to do certain things. Granted, you may still be able to imput them directly from the sirius radio, but the manual for the product suggests that you dont do this. The remotes that come with the radios do still work even when the device is docked. My final issue with the remote is that it is not as easy to interface with the Stiletto as it is when undocked. In fact, there appear to be a few fuctions that are not available from the remote. On: 2007-01-15
