Problem with airflow     On: 2008-06-10

We have had this tv for nine months. It has continally shut down following a message that comes onto the screen saying that the tv will shut down automatically, please check for an airflow blockage. Just to test, we moved the tv out into the middle of an open room, but still receive the message and the tv shuts down. So, if you dont want to be in the middle of a movie, ballgame, or any other show, just to have your tv shut off and you cannot get it back on, we would not recommend this product. We regret purchasing this television.
WD-57831 - Buyer Beware     On: 2008-03-16

I have owned this TV for a little over one year and have already had to have the lamp replaced twice. The first time within two months of purchase, the second lamp lasted about 11 months. Once the warranty expires the cost for replacement lamps on the Mitsubishi website is $260. Initially buying a DLP set was cheaper than going with the LCD, but those savings will eventually be lost buying replacement parts. Also the picture quality is average, not much better than the ten year old Sony I replaced. Think carefully before buying any DLP set, especially one from Mitsubishi.
Mitsubishi Scraping the Bottom!     On: 2008-02-28

Mitsubishi was once a premium line for large screen products. Their quality and customer service have hit rock bottom. The quality is questionable and its doubtful that their products produce the 1080p image that they claim. Buyer beware. They have lost my loyalty and my business. There are too many other high quality offerings to choose from such as Sony, Samsung and Sharp. Dont be taken by Mitsubishi. Youve been warned.
Great Purchase!     On: 2007-12-13

I took about three months to decide on a new DLP. I had narrowed my search down to Mitsubishi WD series tvs. Specifically because of Texas Instruments color engine that is used in the newer models and the sleek profile of the tv. After a lot of browsing and price comparisons I decided on this model.

The DLP performs as advertised. The clarity is amazing. The up conversion works very well. The universal remote is actually universal. I have six devices programmed. Nothing I had in the past handled them all. For a price tag of $1700 delivered to AZ from NJ I couldnt pass this deal up. Hands down one of the best purchases Ive ever made.

Mitsubishi Diamond Series WD-57831     On: 2007-05-30

Ive had my set for about two weeks. It replaced a 5 year old Toshiba rear projection HDTV.

I watch Time Warner Cable, HD DVDs (Toshiba HD A2) and Blue Ray HD DVDs (SONY PS3). I have been pleased with the picture quality of HD material on all three mediums. I find the standard definition Cable picture quality inferior to the quality of standard definition on our standard defiinition (480i) TVs. Upconverting standard DVDs works well and produces a fine picture on the WD-57831.

My one complaint so far concerns the WD-57831 cooling fan. Its quite noisy. Otherwise I love the set and the price was right= $2400 including shipping.

WOW!!     On: 2007-05-24

Within 20 minutes of delivery I had the tv connected and had halo 3 on my xbox running in glorious 1080p. WOW is the only thing that I can say to accurately describe what playing a game like halo 3 on this tv. I am getting a hi-def movie player as soon as possible. I love this tv!!
