I purchased this particular compass because it was advertised as having an altitude. Having just traveled to the mountains for the first time, I thought this would be great to have. So I purchased it for my husband for Christmas.
There is no altitude measurement dial, so that is a disappointment. But, the compass, weather, and temperature readings are accurate. It is nice looking as well. On: 2008-01-07
The system is a battery eater, especially in colder weather. Not a good choice for Minnesotas winters. Like the displays. On: 2007-12-21
If you look at the product manual for this from the Sharper Image site, this unit operates between 32°F to 140°F (0°C to 60°C). In NY this will never be good enough as this wont operate 4 months out of the year.
The outdoor temperature probe is also NOT wireless so youll have to run a wire that will likely be susceptible to corrosion. On: 2007-12-20
