More Information

Durable!!     On: 2008-01-25

Great sound. I use on my computer and my ipod. Works great for me. I dropped these a couple of times, still works.
Not bad...     On: 2008-01-02

Purchased these as a spare set of speakers to use when building computers to test the sound. They are surprisingly good for an inexpensive set of speakers. The blue LED power light is VERY bright and distracting but it can be covered or subdued with a marker pen.
Awesome     On: 2008-01-02

If you are looking for an affordable set of speakers, these are it. I love em!
Sound Purchase!     On: 2007-12-20

What a great little pair of speakers! The set that came with my computer finally conked out and Im glad they did. The sound is clean, theres a nice tone to them and headphone control is very accessible. I do a lot of video editing on Adobe Premiere Pro and these are a great compliment to my whole system. Highly recommend!
Great Buy!     On: 2007-12-04

These speakers are excellent! I wanted something for my computer so I could hear my DVD and play my games and its great! No distortion at all!
What you would expect for the price     On: 2007-12-02

The sound is about what you would expect for this price. Reasonable, but nothing to get too excited over. The aux jack is a nice touch. Its great for playing your ipod through speakers.

The speakers are a bit light though; A heavy cord (like the power adapter cord) can pull the speaker off the shelf so you need to be sure your cords are long enough.
Very Solid Choice, Don't Worry You Will Be Happy     On: 2007-10-13

Altec Lansing BX1020 arrived today. The sound quality is just fine, Ive been listening to Rock n Roll all morning. Keep in mind if you are an AUDIOPHILE or Surround Sound addict, or Hi Def sound freak, these are not for you.

If you are a more normal person you will be very satisified with these little speakers. There are seperate knobs for Power / Volume / Tone with a rather bright blue indicator light. Jacks for headphones and an Aux In also.

I have a good ear for music, I used to be a DJ. Keep the Volume and Tone knobs in the middle range and the sound should be just fine

This is a good buy and value.
Speakers SUCK!!!     On: 2007-10-11

I bought these to listen to music on my computer. Needless to say, I am very unhappy with them. They sound very distorted at higher volumes, and that little blue light is very annoying. DO NOT PURCHASE unless desperate!!
Altec Lansing Speakers Review     On: 2007-10-11

The speakers work quite well and are what I expected to get when I ordered them.
Small but great sound!     On: 2007-09-30

These little speaker are great. They are really small which comes in handy in my dorm room since I dont have as much room. You can plug them into your ipod, discman, your labtop, whatever! The cords are long enough so you can stretch it far and space the speakers far apart. Its really nice that I can plug my ipod in and listen to my music without paying a lot of money for the i-home. Great price! The sound is great! I recommend buying them!

It sounds good for the price. I would buy again     On: 2007-09-21

I was looking for good quality speakers, but did not want to spend a lot of money. These met my needs and I am glad I purchased them. Specially when they are used by children.
Pleasantly surprised with these speakers!     On: 2007-09-20

The built-in speakers in my LCD monitor just werent making it, so I was looking for a small set of satellite speakers to use instead. I read the other reviews for this product and decided to chance it.

These speakers are *great* (for being what they are: small, inexpensive, etc.). Very good sound reproduction. You wont get a lot of bass, but these speakers definitely do not sound "tinny". They have a rich, full sound. For the money, they cant be beat! Highly recommended!
Small but great speakers!     On: 2007-09-14

What can I say, its just what I expected from the other reviews:

- Blinding blue power light (its really THAT bright that I should mention this first, but its easily fixed with some tape)

- good quality sound

- tone dial to correct hollowness of sound

- separate power dial (always hated speakers that you had to turn the volume all the way down to "turn them off")

- Headphone jack and aux in jack

- 2-piece system, with a plug block (could do without this :/ )

- Ample space between two speakers (pretty long cords!)

- Nice, stylish-looking speakers

- noise distortion when volume turned all the way up (but youd expect this from the size and price of the speakers, right?)

- When you do turn the volume to the max, its pretty loud, so great volume range!

- very small size, great for portability (except for the power block :/ )

The only cons being the power block and the blinding light, and with so many pros at this price, I have to say this is a bang for your buck. Great job Altec Lansing - Ill be looking forward to buying from this company again.
Worth buying.     On: 2007-08-10

1-10, this gets a 9.
The sounds is clear, design is wonderful and if you crank it up it can get ear pounding loud. Making this a best choice of its price.
However there were too things I spotted that needs improvement. The first one is the blinding blue power light but this can be fix with a tear of some black tape.
And the second, the unnoticable weak level of bass that its pushes out from a song, making the bass feels like tapping. I adjusted the bass level on winamp to fix this problem.
Overall this is a must buy, even if you arent short on cash.
Wow!     On: 2007-08-07

I have to admit, I am quite impressed with these little speakers! I bought these to plug into a portable CD player so that I have music/Yankees baseball while working in the yard. Based upon the other reviewers comments, I expected mediocre quality. The truth is, these pint-sized speakers far surpass my expectations! No, I certainly dont get super bass from them - but I didnt expect to. However, what I DO get is far superior to, say, the Altec Lansing IM4 Portable Audio System which I also purchased for CONSIDERABLY more money, and which basically sounds like something you would expect to get out of a Cracker Jacks box. My only gripe is that they arent battery powered as well as AC, to make them a bit more versatile.
not 3 piece as Amazon suggests, unless they are counting the power supply     On: 2007-07-24

For the price, these are OK. You wont get any bass out of them without also getting lots of distortion. Music sounds tinny but these are fine if you need basic sound. You need to spend 100 bucks before PC speakers will sound any good.
Compact and Effecient     On: 2007-07-24

Altec Lansing makes a good product. Small size is a plus and separate controls for power, volume and tone are nice features. Overall sound quality is better than expected for the price.
Not bad for the size/price!     On: 2007-01-22

Ive been looking for nicer speakers to go with my desktop PC. Ive had old $7 for ages, and though theyve worked quite nicely, theyre large and bulky.
These Altec Lansing speakers are incredibly tiny and very easy to hook up and use.
I bought them primarily for the smaller size and the separate power/volume dial (the old speakers had the power and volume in one dial) but an excellent added feature is the "Aux in" jack for plugging in CD players, MP3 players, etc without having to buy separate speakers or unhook everything from the back of the computer!

One drawback is that they sometimes sound a bit hollower or tinny than the cheaper ones (although I have yet to mess with the tone dial much), but all things considered, these are a much more stylish, functional, and convenient set of speakers!!
