I purchased this portable dvd player for a long road trip with my family. It made it possible for my two kids to enjoy such long hours in the car. The picture quality is great, we did not experience any skipping or screen disturbance while driving (and we were on some pretty bumpy roads). The headphones are actually nice quality and it is especially nice that it comes with two sets, so each one of my kids can listen. It is easy to use, and the remote control comes in handy. I would suggest buying a separate car case, the one it comes with is not very sturdy. I bought the "case logic portable/in-car dvd player case" and it worked wonderfully between the two seats. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a portable dvd player.

I have been impressed with this product thus far. I got this for free so I cant complain about the cost but I think it probably is overpriced on Amazon.
Yes, the screen is small but its supposed to be small. Everything fits quite well into the tote bag and you dont feel like youre stuffing everything in there to fit. A nice feature are the 2 headphones and 2 headphone jacks. One headphone jack allows the main speakers to still work. Not sure what thats useful for though.
I was not expecting this DVD unit to be able to play as many formats as it has been able to. I have been able to play non-DVD formatted DVDs (I think dvix) which was a pleasant surprise.
Havent had this for too long so Im not sure about its durability yet.
Comes with adaptor for car use and battery charger for home use. Also comes with cords so you can use on a normal TV set which is nice if youre in a hotel or something.

I didnt know what to expect with Amzon. I took a leap of faith...and came out on top!! The Audiovox DVD Player has been a god send.For under a hundred bucks I had doubts. My kids love it for long trips and waiting at the Doctors office. Amazon rocks.

Actually, I was a bit surprised by the value and quality of this very compact and sturdy portable player! The image quality is good, overall construction is good, and using the included earphones - or your own external speakers - the sound quality is very good. Even the built-in speaker system is quite acceptable, but if you like the full stereo effect, then go with the phones or externals.
The only suggestion that I would offer is, in spite of our natural tendencies, go ahead and actually read all the way through the users manual before starting to use the device. There are several features, including a neat bookmarking feature, which will not be self-evident and will probably remain unknown, unless the manual is read thoroughly.
Altogether, for a player in this price range, I believe this one represents an uncommonly good value.

This is hard to review for me, because of the following reasons: I bought this to keep my 22 month old docile for our road trip/4 day weekend. It came well packaged and with all the accessories you need to watch dvds in the car, at home, hook up to the hotel tv, etc. Everything is in the box and you can plug in two headphones (included in box) as well. It worked perfectly and was easy to use. I must admit I almost had a small heart attack trying to hook up the case/holder to the car, but it was not an impossible task, just a bit more difficult than I thought it would be.
Ok, the bad news. When the battery charge is low, the LEDs dont work properly and it is unwatchable. We had quite a few issues for a couple of days while on the trip, but it generally worked if you turned it off for 5 minutes and tried again. I was going to return it when we got back from the trip but the darn thing has always worked perfectly since.
My sister has a Coby brand player for her kids, and I find ours to be much more sturdy (plus the all black makes for nicer viewing). Good deal for what you get in the box, ie ac adapter, two headphone sets, carrying case/car kit (most players do not come with a case, be wary, this case has a pocket that holds three or four dvd cases), car dc power adapter (battery will never die on road trip, should be noted I forgot to pack this on ours), and rca composite cable for plugging into a TV.

This portable DVD player is great. Good picture image, comes with everything that you need. I purchased it to entertain my 2-yr old granddaughter on a 10-hour drive. It worked! Plugged it into the battery charger and it played and played. Also let her watch her movies on the portable player so that the grown-ups could watch their movies. I highly recommend this product!

First impression was nice, the DVD player was compact... then the little bag was nicely offered with 2 headphones a remote control...
The DVD player smell a lot a terrible and cheap plastic, but then again the smell will probably dissapear after a couple of days. then I decided to watch my DVD and after 2 hours the thing just gived up... sound was there but no image. I was so upset that I have decided to just pass my anger and kinda broke it.... do not buy it

I bought this for my sister so that my nephew could watch dvds and what not when she came to visit and she said that it was all around wonderful and In my opinion a great value for the money spent on it. She also indicated that the setup and hook up was very, very easy and it wasnt long before my nephew was watching some movies!

This is a basic, easy-to-use DVD player. We purchased this product to play sing-a-long videos for our 2 year old while traveling on an airplane. It worked great! The only "nit" was that our flight lasted 4-1/2 hours and the batteries ran out. The sound quality is good -- but not great (but hey, who can hear that well on an airplane or in a car anyway?)

I bought this DVD player for an upcoming trip so that it will entertain my almost 2 year old. Well we havent gone on the trip yet but he loves it already and so do all of the adults in the household. The picture quality is great and I had read something about the volume being not that great but it is!!
I love the headphones and all the extras that come with this product. I really didnt know what to expect at this price I was thinking a cheap product with cheap looking parts but it so isnt!!

Player is definetly worth the low price, only issue I have experienced is when the battery runs out the player quits, there is no low battery warning, I have only found the battery to have a max of 2 1/2 hours.

I am very unhappy and will not be purchasing anything via mail from Amazon again. I received this player as refurbished which may have bene my first mistake. It worked for a couple weeks then stopped working any my daughter just put it in a drawer and didnt tell me. I asked her about it a few weeks ago and she told me it only worked for a few weeks. Apparently it only had a 30-day guarantee and I am past that time frame. It would be cheaper for me to just buy a new one at a store brand-new from a reputable dealer where I can actually go in an speak with a person. My recommendation is to only purchase new and only from a listing that has the name of the actual store you are buying from. It is frustrating having to only do email and not working with a person to provide customer service.

Actually got one free through MyCoke Rewards. Boy, did we overpay! The thing showed up looking great in the carry case with all the expected accessories. We charged the battery per the manual, put a DVD in, and nothing. The thing says it is loading the disk, then stops and says no disk. Every DVD we tried, old and new, did not play. I tried powering it through the AC and car power adaptors, and same thing. Actually, if the unit hangs vertically in the carry case, it continues to say loading for minutes, then it finally gives up. It also does not matter if it is horizontal on a table, or vertical in the carry case - the thing just wont recognize, much less play a DVD. In this day and age of reliable solid-state electronics, we are surprised that junk like this is still in the market. We are sending it back for exchange it. We wish we could just send it back for a refund of our reward points, but no such luck. After reading some of the other reviews, we will probably be back here after we receive the replacement unit.

I am very happy with this purchase so far. I think that this item for the price I paid, is a good deal. I can take the player in the car ( my van has a player built in but the car doesnt) and keep both my kids happy in the back seat watching their favorite movie ( two head phones)...Picture quality is really good.

I bought this and it looks like everything we need, it has a case and all the in car connections. However, one really annoying feature is that it has to restart everytime I stop the car. So my daughter watches her videos from the beginning every time, you cant start where you left off. Also, you have to be right in front of the video player to get the remote to work. That takes away from the need to have a remote if you cant use it when you cant touch the buttons. Also, Im not quite sure the battery is working. We turn off the player when we stop the car and after just a couple of days I cant start it when the car isnt running so the battery doesnt seem to be holding a charge - not sure whats going on with it. Finally, the bag that came with it wont fit around my headrest (I have a Honda Pilot) and it the other straps wont undo and they dont stretch enough to fit around the seat. You also cant hang it between two bucket type seats.

Well, as is the trend with many modern consumer devices this is one manufactured to fail just outside the warranty period.

It worked fine for the first 90 days without any issue. About mid/late February it started skipping and having issues reading discs.

It no longer reads any disc. It will either spin for several minutes then say No Disc, or immediately return with that error. Lens verified as clear, discs have no scratches and working in other systems.
Not Recommended.

Great package, great price, and mostly great reviews here on Amazon. I bought one, but the continuity of the picture was so bad it made viewing not enjoyable (I kept the unit plugged in and didnt even use the battery, so I know the battery wasnt the problem). Also when hooked up to an external monitor, the image was too dark, and setting the brightness control to brighter didnt make the picture on the external monitor any brighter.
I cant recommend this except for kids watching cartoons or something directly on the screen who arent sensitive to the jumpy/freezy picture quality. I returned the unit.

I purchased this for a long trip last summer, hoping to keep my kids entertained on the long plane ride and in the car. The unit worked fine in the car, but the charger wouldnt charge, so it was useless on the plane and in the hotel rooms. I returned it as soon as we got back from our trip, but would not recomment this product.

Have owned this DVD player for only a month or two and have run into several problems already. It will not play a disc smoothly. It kind of freezes the frame every few seconds; the sound seems normal however. Also, when the battery gets low, the screen gets bars across it and it makes a loud humming sound. The fact that it came with a case and earphones was what attracted me the most to this model. However, if I could do it again, I would pick a differnet machine and buy the extras separately.

Well, I bought this last year, used it quite alot but BAM, it just quit. It loads then says there is no disc. Alot of clicking noises but nothing. I am keeping the acsessories, but the unit is kaput.
I ordered another brand from Amazon yesterday[Axion-$93.00], hopefully it will last.
A very interesting thing though. I went onto eBay, and there were SO many dvd players up for auction, but below the image, it said "item broken".
Never saw that before with other electronics. Some were high end, others cheapos. So in a nutshell, it proves that none of these are very reliable. Go for the cheaper brand.

I just got this for my birthday. Be warned, it is not what you see in the pic! The headsets are the same, but the remote is different and the DVD player is the same, except there are buttons on both sides of the disc thing. Pretty good quality screen, kinda hard to see very detailed things, though. Speakers are a little canny, but it is PERFECT when usedd with headphone jacks. I watched Full house on it this morning, after charging it for 8 hours. Worked nicely, easy to control, Not too heavy or too light.

I love this! We bought it for my three year old daughter before we went to California to take her to Disneyland. The plane ride was 2 hours and we wanted something to keep her entertained. We bought a CD portable pack to carry all her DVDs and on the plane she watched two of her My Little Pony movies, laughing away, it kept her entertained the whole time. Plus it came with everything- charger, headphones, bag, etc. It was a great deal. I had it since last June and it is still working great. The battery lasts up to 3 hours sometimes more! We use it now on little trips or if we just want to keep her entertained while we are at an appointment or delayed somewhere. It is really handy! Plus our older daughter loves it to listen to music- it is also an MP3 player so it is nice!

I purchased this DVD player as a Christmas present in September and when it was opened in December it would not play as disc drags on door or something. Amazon refused to help and Audiovox said to return it with the original receipt to be repaired in 6-10 weeks. I am awaiting their response and my neices are with out a christmas gift. Ho, Ho, Ho.

As an aside to this wonderful product, I work as a transcriptionist and tried these headphones in my speakers, and in my transcriber hoping they would be better than the ones I was currently using. Much to my surprise, they are fabulous! The quality is terrific and I actually get a stereo sound performance out of horrible voice quality from my speakers, and a not so wonderful machine that I have to use. Audiovox you should be commended for using high quality products! Oh, and PS, my husband (the truck driver) loved his DVD player! Im sure he will use it when he has those few and far between layovers.

we bought this for our kids for a long drive we had planned. A dvd player isnt something we really like to have in our car, but this was a looong trip, with 2 kids and a newborn. I figured it was either the dvd or a black and blue newborn. The dvd won out.
It comes with the player, a case, some cables, remote, a power cable, a battery, and 2 sets of headphones. I wish it held it more securely in the case as we have 2 rear facing children (they are 2 and 3) I plan to "modify" it somehow.
The player plays fine. The remote works when the little sensor is exposed. Which, when its in the case, is not really exposed. So using it in the car requires that you either be able to reach the physical unit or have a child capable of following directions while you contort yourself like Gumby to see whats going on back there. I specifically selected a model with a remote and couldnt even use it.
The headphones are actually pretty nice and we didnt have any problems with them. I like that they fold to fit in the case.
The power cord works fine, but I wish it was longer. Its fine if youre installing it on the seatback but we are installing it farther back in the car and we dont have another power outlet back there, so it JUUUST fit. Id like a little more flexibility there.
The battery is cumbersome to use in the car because it mounts out the back of the player. The case was not designed to accommodate this either opened or closed. It held a charge for a little less than 1 kids movie.
Resolution of the player was okay enough for 2 kids.. If I was buying it for ME, I wouldnt select it, but it is not totally awful, and the kids dont care/know any better. At least mine dont. They arent spoiled by HDTV yet.
Despite my nitpicking, Im really very happy with it for what we bought it for. Everything fits in the case (and theres room in there for 1 or 2 dvd cases too) so its all self contained and in the closet now for the next long trip. Definitely glad we have it.

The picture is fine and it doesnt skip - even on very bumpy roads. Our only complaint is the remote control. Either it doesnt work well or its battery life is small. I gave this product one star only because ZERO stars is not an option. I am researching this site to find a replacement auto DVD player, to replace the SECOND Audiovox player I have. Both worked only a short period of time, 1-3 months, after that player would not load disc. First one returned when it quit after a month or so, and I got another because I thought the first one must have been defective. Now I think all Audiovox products are defective! All DVDs I tried were store purchased Sesame Street, and they work in all other DVD players except the Audiovox. The players worked initially, but went bad shortly after purchase. I will never buy another by the manufacturer; even though they are inexpensive, I never used them for more than an hour at a time (maximum) maybe 1-2 times a week, so I feel they should have lasted longer than a few months. Never watched a full-length movie, only 30 to 60 minute Kiddie shows. So two Audiovox dual dvd portable players quit working for no reason, other than poor quality workmanship. I am amazed that so many people gave it good reviews. If someone gave me one as a gift, I would exchange it for something else. No way I would spend money on this product again.

This is an excellent package. Its not only a good DVD player but also comes with everything you need and headphones quality is good too, not to mention headphones are conveniently foldable. I read some review complaining about the actual volume. I didnt find any issue with that and the volume was sufficient for at least two rows in the car; I didnt try in 3 rows setup though.

I had a portable dvd player for the past three or so years. It stopped working and so I decided to look for anther dvd player. I usually buy name brand products and never heard of Audiovok. I read a few reviews and bought the product. I got it and I loved it once I opened the case. Portable dvd players come with nothing just the dvd player. This set was $100 and comes with two headphones, a remote, a carrying case, and a few other items. I love the color and the speakers are really cool. I paid at least 140 for my other player and that didnt come with anything. Great dvd player and I highly recommend it.

When the product stopped working I tried multiple (and I mean multiple) times to get in touch with the customer support line to find a repair location (the warranty had long since expired). They dont even answer the phone. All you can do is leave a message.
After multiple messages left (from both my wife and I)no call back ever. A poor product and even worse customer support.

We bought 2 of these players for our 14 hour drive to Disney for my 9 and 11 year old. I have to say that they did the job. Both performed as expected, with the ability to play both movies and music cds. We encountered no problems with either. Both kids were able to operate without assistance and held up fine. They are now packed away for the next road trip/adventure!

Ok, I will be honest. I bought this item to use mainly as a DVD/MP3 player. This player will only recognize the first track of each folder. After that, it splits up the MP3s into about 30-60 mp3 tracks per MP3. Its horrid.
Other than that, the item is small and light. I dont think it would stand up against a smaller child.

We bought this DVD player to keep our 2 year old happy in the car on a few long trips we have coming up. It is a great value for the money and so far so good. I love the carrying case and the fact that it easily installs on the back of our carseat. We havent really used the battery yet, just the AC and car adapter.
Before the movie starts the DVD turning inside the player is LOUD but you dont hear it once the movie starts playing.

Got it out of the box, charged it and started playing DVDs and running photo CDs with no problems at all. The sound from the onboard speakers is not so good, but plug in the head sets and it has very good sound. We are very happy with this unit and may buy a 2nd one for Xmas.

This is a good little DVD player. I bought it to entertain my daughter for our upcoming Thanksgiving vacation. I loved the fact that it includes the car mounting bag/carrying case and 2 sets of headphones (so Mom can listen in). I have only tested it with one DVD, but it has a good picture and I had no problem with the sound quality - it might be slightly tinny, but that is probably what you should expect from an inexpensive portable DVD player. The only thing I wish it had that it doesnt, is a swivel screen. Other than that, it is perfect!

I was looking around for a DVD player that I could put in the car for my 1-year-old daughter to watch her kiddie videos when were on the road. The DVD players that connect to the car headrests that are out on the market were nice but too pricey so I opted for this one instead. The picture quality is not the best but its pretty good. I like that this comes with a carrying case that you can hang in the car & comes with a car adapter, AC adapter, remote control & 2 headsets. I also like that the player is black. It matches with my black leather car interior. Plus, I think the black color makes it look more high-end. My only concern about this DVD player is that the material its made of seems a little less sturdy. Just be careful not to drop it & I think Ill hold up fine. I have it for about 3 months now & it still works great. I even tried watching one of my movies in it & I enjoyed using it.
Overall, if youre not willing to spend big bucks but still want a decent enough DVD player than I would recommend getting this.

I was looking around for a DVD player that I could put in the car for my 1-year-old daughter to watch her kiddie videos when were on the road. The DVD players that connect to the car headrests that are out on the market were nice but too pricey so I opted for this one instead. The picture quality is not the best but its pretty good. I like that this comes with a carrying case that you can hang in the car & comes with a car adapter, AC adapter, remote control & 2 headsets. I also like that the player is black. It matches with my black leather car interior. Plus, I think the black color makes it look more high-end. This product is a great value. I like the 2 headphones ports, all the stuff that came in the box - headphones, outputs to go to a tv, case, remote, car power adaptor - a lot of that stuff you usually have to buy separate. The screen quality is quite good for a $100 player.

The pictures good--when the dvd will play. I have found that about half of my daughters dvds wont play in the player. Some will play at times and not at others. (These dvds are commercially-made dvds and are in good condition.)

My husband and I purchased three of these as our three boys are all four years apart, spanning from 2 through 9. Needless to say, even with a built in DVD player in our vehicle, no one could decide who got to choose the movie to watch! Now all three boys can watch what they want and it makes a quiet trip wherever we go! We even purchased a new vehicle without the DVD player because these work so well!!! Since each player has two headphone jacks, their friends can even join in the fun, and yep! Even with 6 kids in the car its still QUIET! We love this item!

My daughter is very happy with this little machine, but dont bother trying to use the battery pack. She charged it for 24 hours and on the first attempt to use it in the car, it gave out in less than 15 minutes. The car charger works fine as does the ac connection.

I was just going to replace my daughters old portable DVD player since its been skipping. But, I ended up getting one each for my two kids so they can have them in their rooms and/or take them on trips and not fight over what to watch. Theyre teenagers. Enough said.
So far, so good. The resolutions great, its very light weight, love the folding headphones (saves so much space!) and the rechargeable battery goes on easily--snaps right on the back of the unit, so no more dangling wire like the old system. For the price, its a bargain. Highly recommend.

I looked around for a bit before choosing this model and overall I am happy with it.
The controls are a little strange. I have had a problem getting disks to restart if they are paused for more than a few minutes, after the screen saver comes on, but I dont know if thats the player or the disk. The main drawback, in my opinion, is the weird battery configuration. Its bulky and awkwardly designed and needs to snap into some holes on the back that can be difficult to line up correctly. Also, battery life is not great and when it dies, it absolutely dies, no warning. On the plus side, I was looking for a player with a flat matte, non-reflective screen that could be used outdoors in relatively bright daylight, and this player does perform well in that situation. Screen size and image quality are good and the controls are simple, except for the problem with the pause feature. Overall, a decent buy for the money.

This is an edit of my previous review. Originally I gave it 4 stars. If I could change that (Amazon doesnt allow changes to the star system), I would change it to 1 star. After only 6 months of very light usage, it suddenly gave out. The motor doesnt spin the disc. The player was handled very gently, so its not due to misuse, apparently just cheap and poor engineering. After reading other reviews, I see that most unhappy buyers got no satisfaction from either Amazon or Audiovox, so I guess I will just chalk it up as a learning experience and avoid Audiovox products in the future

We purchased this DVD player for my son to watch on a four day road trip. The DVD player always worked, kept my son very entertained the whole trip. I have seen better pictures from more expensive units but I doubt that my son noticed. The portability is great and we watched one complete movie and then part of another on the battery. Most of the time we had the unit plugged into the cars power outlet. The headphones worked well and with two sets included even big brother could tune in. Great product for the money.

If you are looking for a DVD player for occasional use on plane trips or car trips - this is a great buy.
I bought this for my daughter to use on our regular plane trips to Florida. We go every 2-3 months. The flight is 1 1/2 hours and this was a great way to keep a 15 month old occupied for most of the time.

I have not looked at the player yet, but I bought it as a surprise for my boyfriend here in the Bahamas and he LOVES it! He cant stop playing with it and he hasnt stop thanking me yet. He said the resolution is great and the headphones are wonderful. Ill post another review once I watch a movie on it.

We purchased this to keep the kids entertained on long trips and thats exactly what it does! The headsets are a blessing and the picture is great (and the adjustability works well). Easily placed on a lap or attaches to the vehicles headrest. For the money I dont think youll find a better product!

After having this product for just a few days, here are some first impressions of my first portable DVD player. The screen resolution is not as good as I would have hoped, but it is good enough. Scenes with a lot of small detail may disappoint, but when larger less complex images are viewed, the detail is amazingly good. The built-in speakers are a little tinny, but again, good enough. On the other hand, the headphone sound is very good indeed. My new fully-charged battery lasted 2 hours 40 minutes, not the 3 hours suggested, but we are all familiar with overly optimistic battery life claims!
The real reason to buy this unit is the portability factor, which allows it to be used in the car, and the two sets of headphones should keep two children relatively calm on car trips. But the folding headphones may be a challenge and so kids and adults alike should be informed of their fragile nature. Speaking of fragile, the disc door is thin plastic, and may break if closed roughly or mishandled. A sturdier door would be a good idea.
I had hoped this unit would be an upgraded model of the D1708PK, but it appears the only difference is that this model sports a black case. It looks really sharp though. When handled with care, this product should give long service, and anyone looking for a DVD player for use in a vehicle should give it consideration. The bonus pack with the two sets of headphones, the adapters, cables, remote, etc., make it a no-brainer.
