If you are looking for a set of great sounding speakers and you dont want to spend a lot of money, look no further. I bought this set to replace my Jensen floorstanding speakers and man was I impressed. They have amazing clarity and sound awesome for both movies and music. They may be small, but they pack one hell of a punch in terms of sound quality. For $100 it is well worth it. On: 2008-04-14
I have this set paired with the SS-B3000 bookshelf speakers. These speakers sound amazing compared to my old speakers. The center channel is crisp and clear. The rear speakers add great depth to movies. I was watching Pirates of the Caribbean 2 to test things out, its like youre in the movie. Ive never experienced that kind of sound before. On: 2008-03-03
Works well - I only needed the center speaker. I wish I could have purchased only the center speaker. What will I do with the left and right speakers? Good performance with the Sony receiver. On: 2008-02-22
I initially bought these speakers to replace some larger Cerwin Vegas. You really have to turn up the volume to hear them. If you are going to use them in a small room or bedroom, these will be adequate. The rear speakers are perfect for hiding away though. I attached one of mine to the trunk of a small artificial tree to get it out of site and a little higher up - works perfectly and nobody can see it. On: 2008-02-05
I have an older Sony Pro-Logic Receiver and Sony 5.25" Bookshelf speakers with a powered Sony 12" subwoofer and the sound is very good.
However, I wanted to have the option of full 5.1 surround when I get a new receiver so I picked these up. They really sound great and the center channel adds a new dimension to the soundstage... and this is just using the older Pro-Logic setup.
The speakers match my setup perfectly and look great. They are heavy for their size and I think they will last for a long time. THe small surround speakers have brackets on the back for wall mounting which is a nice feature.
With these speakers, a sub and two front speakers youll have a full surround system that will blow away most all of the "all-in-one" sets they sell now at a fraction of the cost.
Once I pick up a true 5.1 receiver these will really shine. On: 2008-01-08
You thing youre safe when buying a SONY product. This one for sure has a name but not a sound.I can compare it with basic computer speakers but not as a ad to your home teather sistem. On: 2007-12-19
These speakers nicely replaced my old surround sound system front 3 speakers, they work great, not high end, but for the price and combined with my 10inch Sony subwoofer, these sound great. On: 2007-12-09
Small, Sounds Good with the rest of the Bravia speakers. Its size is the reason I got them.My other Center channel is Giant compared to this,Match your speakers to your Receiver and what you want to expect. On: 2007-11-22
Im a little chagrined I waited so long to immerse myself in the world of 5.1 surround sound.
Most websites on the subject will tell you to get all of your speakers from the same brand, so the harmonics are all cousins of each other. Well, with Bose bookshelf speakers, the accompanying surround speakers would have been another grand, so I decided to bottom end with Sony.
These little puppies are weird in that you cant take the mesh covers off to spock the look of the speaker diaphragms, but thats the only weird thing. They ship with the tiniest capellini-sized speaker wire you can imagine, which helps you enjoy your new sound straight out of the box until you can get some more decent sized wire.
For a starter kit, these are thoroughly sufficient, plus, theyre sleek and unobtrusive. If you havent experienced surround sound anywhere but the theaters, get these babies and rent Apocalypse Now, or any of the Bourne movies. (Or better yet, watch the dust storm episode from the first season of Carnivale--youll quite literally be blown away.)
Also, youll need a digital optical cable from your DVD player to your receiver; otherwise the Dolby surround wont work. On: 2007-10-17
I paired these with a set of SSB-1000 Bookshelf speakers.
They are a great set to complete for 5.0 surround, i would suggest a separate sub because i low end on the bookshelf speakers or this set.
Center is clear and crisp, rears are mid-small and do the job just fine. On: 2007-09-14
It looks nice and works ok. The speakers do not get as loud as I would like but they are ok. Paired up with a Yamaha HTR-6030BL. The satellite speakers fit nicely on the cheap black speaker metal stands at Wally world for 29.00. On: 2007-08-30
