I bought these because of the brand name, reasonable cost, but mainly so I could plug in a headset to them for gaming. Unfortunately the plug-in is not for a headset with a microphone, only speakers. Therefore if you have a headset you want to plug in I dont recommend these speakers. Find some that have a plug in that includes the mic jack. Otherwise they do have excellent sound and the price is good. If you dont care about the headset plug-in, I recommend them highly. On: 2008-01-27
This small speaker system is a revelation. Found them on the shelf at Walmart for under $20. I originally passed it up and thought for the price, no way. I started to look at the ones which cost around $50 and more. But my eyes keep coming back to this box. The specs are modest and albiet, honest, 2 watts each for small speakers and 5 watts for the sub. Remembering my lessons from early hifi about amount of power necessary to double sound, it did not make sense to spend any more for an incremental bit of power, which the more expensive systems were offering. So I bought the SBS 380. Nicely made, sound is quite good. Not a lot of power, but it is full and rich which hooked up to my creative mp3 and I adjusted the mp3 tone setup judicously.
The big revelation came with hooking it up to the TV. I dont have a surround system in the house I rent, it comes with a mid-line 27" with a headphone jack. Hooking this system up to the TV was mind-blowing. Adjusted the tone controls on the TV and sound is amazing. Loud and full. While not audiophile, the setup is quite good. Movies come alive. I tailor the sound using the TVs tone and volume controls. What a deal for under $20.... Dont know about other creative speaker products, but this one is amazing.
At some point I plan to try it on my laptop, but right now with MP3 player and TV I have gotten more than I hoped. Good sound, great price! On: 2008-01-25
I bought this in order to listen to my Creative Zen Vision W 30GB MP3 player. The first set of speakers arrived and I received 2 right speakers, no left speaker and the subwoofer. Packaged that up to ship back this weekend and received a second set of speakers today. In this set the subwoofer did not work AT ALL. So, I opened up the first speaker set and tried the other subwoofer and, on full volume, the sound was only marginally louder than I was getting just listening to my MP3 player WITHOUT SPEAKERS. And, if I wiggle any of the wires there is static and the sound is lost. Obviously, this is going back too.
Will not be purchasing a THIRD speaker set. On: 2008-01-08
I bought these speakers around the beginning of December and so far they have been wonderful. The 5.1 speakers I had lasted me a few years but eventually died, so I downgraded to these 2.1 speakers. I dont regret it at all. They sound just as good as the 5.1 I had. The bass works and the sound quality from these speakers are very good. If youre looking for good 2.1 speakers I would recommend these. On: 2007-12-07
These speakers have a pretty good output. Theyre not very loud but theyre not meant to be. Perfect for simple use and just plug and play On: 2007-09-16
I purchased these two months ago and they are great! The sound is fantastic and they were easy to set up. I am currently using Windows Vista and this only enhances the surround experience.
