More Information

Over rated in power. Plastic cover to hide small magnet.     On: 2007-10-31

I ordered these and hooked them up stereo (parallel dual voice coil) to an older class AB amplifier that was slightly less than 1000watts by two into 2ohms RMS like they claim these handle. They were placed into separate 2.2 cubic ft sealed enclosures. The bass was not all that impressive, and the response was not even close to flat. I heard a buzzing sound, so I took them out and removed the cheap plastic covers on the back, and found a rather puny magnet structure. Removing this made the buzzing go away, until the other speaker began making a different buzz at low volumes, especially noticable at higher frequencies with my LPF crossover turned off. Im guessing that a voice coil charred, under the specified 550W RMS! If not, then the darn thing came that way. I recommend a solid pair of 10"s over these. You will get the same sound with better reliability and more honest specifications for roughly the same price. I wonder if Power Acoustik makes anything worth while?
