The MB Quart Alexxa 8.0IW is incredible value for money. It sounds better than any other in-wall speaker Ive heard, some of which cost 3 times the price. This speaker truly exemplifies how far in-wall speaker technology has come in the recent years. Some people still believe that the best in-wall speakers dont rival mid-range in-room speakers. I beg to differ and would challenge anyone to audition these speakers. They will change your mind for good.
Ive been an MB Quart fan for more than 10 years, having installed several sets of their car stereo speakers in a number of cars Ive owned and was always impressed by the level of audio fidelity I was able to achieve with their products. I bought these speakers partly on the basis of those positive experiences as there is very little information about these speakers available anywhere -- no reviews, no marketing materials, no product manuals. Maxxsonics, MB Quarts parent company, must have a $0 marketing budget for their home audio products.
I also liked the fact that these speakers have a sealed rear baffle, which makes performance more predictable and consistent, eliminating the need to create closed niches -- as most other in-wall/in-ceiling speaker manufacturers recommend.
When I finally installed these speakers in my newly built home theater, I was blown away. I am using three ALX8.0IWs as left/center/right channels. Their performance exceeds my highest expectations. They sound as good as the enormous B&W DM604 towers with LCR6 center channel that I have in another room. I wasnt expecting them to sound that good.
Treat your ears to the best of German speaker engineering technology. I think even the Brits will be hard pressed to build a better in-wall speaker.
