i did a thorogh research before landed on this one. i do like the 120Hz Sony better, but i decided not to pay $2500 for a 40" and for my first HDTV set.
JVC has not disappointed me. i am a fan of JVC, my last tube set lasted 13 years. the picture quality is superb for this new set, color is vivid, natural and smooth. i am surprised to find the price has actually gone up!! i paid $1,100 and now is $1444? wow!
the sound quality is really good as well. setup was easy, the craftsmanship is good, very clean design. very happy overall. On: 2008-02-15
42" HDTV bought through Amazon & Tiger Direct. Very well satisified with both services On: 2008-02-10
We just love this TV it went through 2 trucking companies to get here from tiger direct but was worth it. It has one bad pixel but we havent contacted JVC about this yet but still very easy to set up great picture and great price! After reading many reviews on amazon this TV was the best for the brand we love. On: 2007-12-04
This TV is amazing! The first one I got had some issues with fine detail (particularly with single-pixel-wide sharp contrast). After some investigating I determined the set was messed up and I exchanged for a new one. The problem is gone... It looks great!
I am particularly impressed with the power consumption and energy saving features that come with this TV. Make sure to adjust the "energy saving mode," if you are an energy-miser like myself. I hooked the set up to a Watt-meter and got the following results:
ON (displaying a basketball game):
("energy saving mode" @ max): 263W
("energy saving mode" @ half): 180W
("energy saving mode" @ min): 119W
OFF:
(quick on) 17W
(norm on) 0W (resolution of meter does not show fractional Watts - so it is probably between 0W and 1W)
The energy story is great, but I got the TV for the picture - which looks amazing! Halo 3 @ 1080p - looks fantastic. Watching Monday Night Football in HD makes me wonder how people watch sports in SD anymore. Id put this JVC HDTV up against a Samsung or any other brand any day.
My only complaint (other than having to return the first one) is that there is no DVI input - Hardly a problem considering it has 2 HDMI inputs. I am very happy with it. On: 2007-10-05
It has a great picture for a good price. Easy set up. I am very happy with this HDTV.
