HP LC4776N 47-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

At first I was unsure about this TV, probably "buyers remorse", but once I had HD service from Comcast installed I was totally blown away! SD channels look good, the TV does a good job up-sampling - if you get up close, you can see the distortions and artefacts introduced by the scaling, but from a few feet away, they look fine (this is SD coming from the composite inputs from our Comcast HD DVR, SD from the normal AV input looks crappy). But, the reason to get this set is for the HD! And, the HD channels will blow you away! They seem to be broadcast in 1080i, and I cant express how good they look. We just finished watching The Queen and Superman Returns, and it is AMAZING! The landscape scenes are amazing (Balmoral countryside in The Queen is unbelievably vivid and detailed, and the New York skyline in Superman is jaw dropping). Regular DVDs look pretty good too, we watched Lord of the Rings (using my Xbox360 internal DVD drive), and it looks pretty good - seems to be better than the SD channels. The only downside to this TV is that the black is not very deep, but its hard to find a LCD where they are. Another downside is that it favors red and the screen is very bright - but, you can easily correct by reducing the saturation (for the red-bias) and reduce the contrast to decrease the brightness (yep, contrast NOT the brightness).
