Bought this product to enhance speakers in a newly purchased LCD TV. DIdnt want to get a full blown home theater system, and this unit with the wireless woofer seemed the perfect solution. But, it has now been returned as the remote control of the speaker sound and mute feature failed to work from my easy chair about 10 feet away. Seemed to work fine when I initially trained it to respond to my TV remote, but then I was only 4 to 5 feet away from the unit. That seems to be the range for accurate response. Can not recommend this item unless you are using in a compact setting, or that you know your TV connection supports volume adjustment. Would have been nice to have more connection options to the unit. On: 2008-06-09
This product has good speakers and puts out better sound than the tv has but, the sound volume is very uneven. When you set the voice volume to an acceptable level the digital sound effects and background noise is way too loud. I hooked it up to a Sharp Aquos HD flat screen with 1080 resolution. I tried all of the adjustments that the instructions gave but nothing changed. The bass unit being wireless is a good idea but I could barely turn it up, it was so over powering. I set the digital noise filter to high on the TV but it did not help. In B As defense I dont think its all their fault. The sound on todays TV transmissions is chaotic. They make too much use of digital electronics sound effects and send them too loud. I also think the cable company is very lax: I E the commercials coming in much louder than the programs. It is a shame because it is a decent product that just cant work in this enviournment. On: 2008-05-14
Boston Acoustics is the most unresponsive company I have ever dealt with. The speaker will not change volume unless you hold the remote within 3 feet of it. I have made eight calls to the company and not been able to talk to anyone and they dont return a call. After three days they finally responded to an e-mail. They told me how to take it apart and change the lens over the infrared sensor but warned me that is was a little dangerous.
This apparently is a known problem which they shipped anyway. Because of their lack of response, I am returning it. On: 2008-04-10
Boston Accoustics (TVSpeaker System)
Sound is far better than I expected and remote speaker has plenty of power. I know it is not a true surround system but for not having to run wires all over the place and finding places to hang or stand speaqkers it is impressive to say the least. You will not be dissappointed. I have purchased several pieces of electronics through Amazon and have neaver been disappointed. Purchased this unit on Amazon from Electronics Expo.
Received days before date promised. On: 2008-03-08
This product performs as expected with one exception: The infrared sensor for the remote requires me to be closer to the unit than my seating position allows. Other than that, it is excellent. It has great sound, increased bass, and generally improves the entire viewing experience.
It is not surround sound, but if you are researching and paying attention you already realize that. If you did not already realize that, you have serious comprehension problems and do not understand what I have written anyway. On: 2008-02-25
I bought the Boston Acoustics TVee Speaker to pair with my Panasonic TH-50PX75U which I put in our bedroom. Its a great no-fuss solution to add full sound without having to run wires everywhere (a must in the bedroom).
The soundbar is a simple and clean design that fits well with the black colored tv. I have it sitting on a shelf right underneath the plasma. From taking it from the box, to setting it up and operating it with the remote took 5 minutes. BA got that part right for sure. Soundwise, it is clear and crisp, and decent bass from the woofer. Its not full surround, so if that it what you are looking for, dont buy this. But for this price range, there isnt anything comparable that gives you a solid upgrade over the small underpowered speakers of a flat panel display. Being able to program your tv remote to control the TVee Speaker is a huge bonus. Mine programmed exactly as the instructions said. That being said, there are two quirks that can be a little annoying:
1. If you manually control the volume using the volume buttons on the soundbar, or use the ones on the tv, the volume could get out of sync with the remote (e.g, the tv thinks the volume is turned down all the way, when its not on the bar). The easiest way to control for that is to either a) make sure your speakers on the tv are turned off, or b) always use the remote to control volume
2. I find you have to be within a range of 10 feet or so in order for the remote to control the volume of the soundbar. The remote works the tv anywhere I am in the room, but only the soundbar if I am within the 10 ft radius. Since I sit in bed 12 feet away, I have to lean forward to control the volume.
Pros:
- Great look (for the soundbar)
- Solid sound for movies and tv
- wireless sub woofer allows you to hide it easily (needs to be plugged in)
- 100 watts of power, so good for medium sized rooms
- Very easy set up
- Uses your TV remote, so dont have to add another remote to your collection
- Powers on and off with the TV, so dont have to turn something else on
Cons
- Remote quirks (see above for details)
- Subwoofer looks like an upside down trash can (but I hide it under the bed so not a big deal)
Over all, I think its a solid performer for the class, and a great solution for better sound than the tv for medium rooms. I wouldnt get this for my home theater room, that requires something more powerful and full surround capability.

Wanted surround sound for my wife, who is hard of hearing, but couldnt bear the thought of six speaker boxes, with wires, in my living room. This was a low-cost alternative to the Polk Audio and Yamaha products. Im happy with the results. You dont get the separation of a 6-speaker set, but the sound is really good with 5.1 sources. I buried most of the wiring in my wall, so the wiring is very clean - only a couple inches of cable between the TV and speaker bar are visible. I have recommended this product to my friends. The BA TVee is an improvement over my flat screen tv speakers but not as good as Id hoped. Id say the sub is under powered but does fill in the base some. The soundbar is a bit better than the flat screens but again not remarkably so. Also had to remove front screen in order for my remote to work. Ive had BA speakers before and am less satisfied with this purchase than my other experience with them. It is the only system at a reasonable price point, BAs ususal sales appeal, available but not with their ususal quality. Im moderatly satisfied with the system, therefore I can only give it 3 starts. I was dissapointed with the TVee. Although it wasnt touted as a theater-type system, I expected more. The volume is decent for medium size rooms, but dont expect to be blown away by its sonics. Treble is practically non-existant. The sub woofer has little, if any kick. It even lacks in sterero seperation. the only good thing I can say about it is that it sounds better than the TV speakers. After reading all the reviews I could find and looking at this system at Circuit City, I was convinced that this would be the perfect enhancement for my flat screen TV. The TVs built-in speakers just dont deliver the "punch" that I like for movies and sporting events and Boston Accustics came to the rescue. My next task was to find the very best price available. I located this system on Amazon for under $250 (shipping included) when the retail price was $399 locally making this purchase a no brainer. The system arrived 3 days later and all parts up and running in just a few minutes. Everything worked great and the sound was great. The system is in a small room and it even works better for DVD movies than my Sony 2.1 Dream System. The remote programs easier than any I seen and the wireless Sub is unbelieveable regarding sound quality and convenience. The sound bar sounds great and has a much more expense look. I highly recommend this system for medium to small size rooms and suggest shopping for a bargain price. On: 2008-01-12
Super easy install and syncing with my TV remote.
If I attempt to use the televisions speakers along with TVee
there is an echo.
Simple set up, sounds great, easy install...
What are you waiting for? Buy it!! On: 2007-12-31
Simple installation. Up and running in minutes. A great alternative sound system without all those speakers that come with most sound systems. Ideal for rooms not suitable for surround sound systems. On: 2007-12-06
I had TVee up and running in 5 minutes. Thats the beauty of this system, its simplicity. Instead of adding another remote to the fray, the main speaker learns your current remotes volume/mute controls...sweet. Why havent any other manufacturers thought of that, instead of bundling [not to mention charging extra for] another remote control?
In the world of soundbars, Boston Acoustics has separated themselves from the pack by creating a reasonably priced, excellent sounding, simple system--abstaining from the faux surround sound mantra. Who knew enhanced stereo could sound so good? Ive had mine for weeks, and I love it.
Last and definitely not least, lets talk about the WIRELESS SUBWOOFER. Yeah, the wireless subwoofer that is not affected by my wireless network (802.11g), or my cordless phones (5.8GHz). No drops, no clicks, and no hums. Since I plugged it in, I havent thought about it...until the room rumbles. I have the bass level at 2, and Die Hard 4 sounded amazing!
This system kicks! Put it on your short list--especially if you are dreading running/seeing speaker wires. In my opinion, its the only contender at this price point. On: 2007-12-05

I purchased this unit to add umph to the sound of the Plasma TV I purchased (Panasonic TH-42PZ77U 42" Class 1080p Plasma Flat Panel TV and HDTV). The ability to place the subwoofer in a corner without having to run wires is a blessing. And with the subwoofer in a corner you get a good amount of volume. The sound bar itself sits right on top of the Panasonic 42PZ77U firmly. It was easy for the sound bar to learn my TVs remote controls so that now when I turn on the TV the sound bar and subwoofer turn on simultaneously. Of course the volume on the TV remote also controls the volume of the sound bar and subwoofer. Note that this is not surround sound but it adds a great deal of sound to any TV. On: 2007-12-01

This is a great unit but at $400, it is criminally overpriced. Buy this if it ever goes down to $199.
When will these manufacturers learn to price realistically... On: 2007-10-07
