I am very unhappy, I bought the camera to take to a district athletic event, but the battery wouldnt charge, so needless to say, I couldnt take it. I had seen such good reviews of this camera, but am very disappointed.

I bought two units and bouth came with a defective battery, that forced to call the service department to replace. i was informed that they were aware of this kind of defect. Why casio sell a unit that know that has a defective battery. Camera is working now after my call to replace the batteries. On: 2008-09-30
somewhat easy to use. Nice big LCD screen. Nothing like the reviews. Great camera for the price. The only problem is some of the buttons are small and hard to manuver. If you have small fingers then its okay. Also, the toggle does not always move upward when pressed in that direction. That may be a problem only with my camera. All and all, a good camera. Ive taken jillions of great pictures with my little Exilim....Its good for everything from macro to landscapes. And being able to take lots of nice little movies with good sound is a huge plus. And mine is one of the first models out without modern refinements like anti-shake.
Ive gotten it wet, Ive turned it off and on jillions of times... it just keeps on taking good pictures. On: 2008-06-18
I bought my camera in July 2007 and LOVED it...awesome photos, simple to use, fast shutter speed, etc. I am a trained photographer but wanted a small camera to take with me on trips and to parties, etc., and the size and price was fantastic...SOLD! For once, I did not get an extended warranty, and that was my biggest mistake.
In October 2007, I took the camera to a friends wedding and it suddenly turned itself off, with the lens still partially out, halfway through the reception. I figured I must have not charged the battery enough, and placed it back in its case to take home, disappointed I only got about a dozen photos from the wedding.
Upon charging the battery, I realized the camera had died, so I dug out the box and called Casio. I then went through a relay to get the camera shipped out for service...three feet of bubble wrap and Express Mail, for starters. Three weeks later, I got a letter in the mail demanding over $100 for repairs, or a "ransom" of a small amount of money to get it back, unusable. If I did not respond promptly, I would never see my little camera again. So I called and talked with someone, who said they hadnt actually looked at it yet (how did they know how much to charge then??) Another person got on the phone (a "tech") and informed me I must have dropped the camera because there was severe damage to the outer lens. Uhm, no. After "negotiating" for two weeks, I was able to reduce the "fix fee" to about $80 with shipping and "service." I figured this was better than out and out buying a new camera (they have since gone down in price, ironically enough). I got the camera back over a month later and have used it sparingly, since my job requires a "fancier" model. Two days ago I tried to turn it on to view photos...and...nothing. Its dead, again. It is NEVER removed from its case unless its in use, I store it in a fireproof/dirtproof container, and I have maybe taken 10 photos on it since I received it back in December...its NEVER EVER been dropped, scratched, bumped. I also am the only one whos ever taken photos with it.
Clearly, this is a lemon, and there is no way Im going to get Casio to repair it again...and even if they agreed, I have already essentially bought this camera one and a half times over. The sad part is, I really love this camera and did not intend to buy another point and click for some time. I do not think every version of this camera is a lemon (and lets face it...they happen), but I will definitely think twice before contacting Casio customer "service" again.
Two lessons learned:
1. Buy the extended warranty.
2. If you must send it in for repair, borrow a camera and take closeups of it before shipping it off; otherwise you will be blatantly accused of negligence, no matter how much you baby your property, like I do. On: 2008-06-12
I returned the camera for warranty repair when the lens would not open. I got back a estimate for repair(134.57) which stated it was not covered because the damage was caused by severe impact to the casing, which it was not. Kind of like having the fox watch the hen house-they claim severe impact so they can try scamming you out of a repair bill. To add insult to injury they charged me $7.95 S&H to get my unrepaired camera back. Shame on Casio. On: 2008-05-21
I purchased a casio camera based on reviews, and I loved the You Tube feature. When I got it, I liked the looks of it, but was a little disappointed after looking through the menus. It is a little slow to try to get pictures if you are in a rush, and by the time you get the settings right, you miss the shot. I like taking Youtube footage at work, since I live in a tourist town, I can get some interesting footage. My old camera took better video footage. I found that it was grainy. I took it with me on a trip to PA in March. I was traveling with two kids, and we took them to a childrens museum. I put the anti shake feature on, and set it on the kids photo selection. Out of the 25 pics I took, about ten came out okay. The kids were running around and they all were blurry. I was so disappointed. The pics only seem to come out clear if you use the flash, and even if the lighting is good, if you dont use the flash the pics are blurry. I had a party the other night, and I got so aggravated I just stopped trying to take photos. I got a total of two pictures. I decided this is it, and I am going to sell this on Ebay and update. I would have also preferred just a plug, and not have to use the dock to charge it, and upload the photos. I just ordered a Sony Cybershot, and it is great. So much better. While this camera does look cool, and has the Ebay and Youtube mode(which I didnt notice a difference when uploading videos on Youtube with this camera or my older fuji camera.) I also have a macbook, so I never use the photo software that came with it, so I dont know how that works. If you are looking for a camera, I would look for a company that is more experianced, and better known for there cameras such as Sony, Nikkon, Kodak, and Fuji. If you just want something good for YouTube, and not really interested in anything else, then I would get it. Other then that look for another model and brand. On: 2008-05-09
The product is excellent and performs wonderfully. Though I am yet to start using it, but I have the confidence that it will meet my expectations. This is based from past experience of using the same type of camera. On: 2008-05-08
Great little camera. Great pics, great video. Loads of features. Cant be beaten on price and size. On: 2008-05-05
The camera I bought from this vendor was supposed to be new. When I got it and opened it all up it had obviously been opened and appeared somewhat used. This was confirmed when I was able to view pictures ON the camera that the previous owner had taken. On: 2008-04-06
This is the best digital camera i ever had. Very compact, beautiful color, great photos and superb video.
The photo quality is very good for a non professional camera, you just have to find the best configuration. I had an equivalent model from Sony and i must say, Casio is much better.
Stylish, the camera has a splendid video definition and it`s very easy to make movies.
After a research i think this is the best option for this price and configuration. I am very satisfied until now.

Great camera, excellent pictures and superb video capabilities. Small, slim, very user friendly. My only gripe with the camera is that the format is MOV/MPG4 and not AVI/MPG4 which requires that I use quicktime to view videos (as opposed to windows media player). On: 2008-03-15
I bought this camera based on the reviews on the Best Buy site. I believe that Best Buy filters the comments about these cameras. It is everything that they say about it being "cool", like the size and features. I tend to buy a camera for taking pictures rather than downloading video to youtube. The still photos were very disapointing. They were grainy for the most part. The ones that werent grainy were blurry. Definately not what I expected out of an 8.1 megapixel camera. Do your homework before buying one of these. On: 2008-02-26
I loved the last Casio Exilim I bought. Here is what I think of this one.
1. Battery life doesnt seem to be quite as long
2. Focus in low light is unimproved or worse
3. The menus are more cluttered not less
4. Moving the focus control from the dial on top to the back was a mistake
5. I love the bright huge display
6. I love the ease of use
7. I love the slim design
8. Love the bright finish and color.
If the low light capabilities both of focus and ability to gather light were improved I would rave about this camera. On: 2008-02-18
I purchased this camera primarily for taking videos in situations where a tiny, easily pocketable camera is key. This includes spur-of-the-moment times when theres no opportunity to set up a camcorder, as well as outdoor activities for which the device needs to be very compact. I also wanted this device for photos in the event that Im not carrying my Nikon SLR.
I am very pleased with the quality of video and the cameras ease of use. Button layout is well-thought out, with distinct buttons for playback, photos and recording video. I took the camera skiing, and it was not overly cumbersome to use with gloved hands, despite the size. The video was remarkably crisp, and the audio was decent.
I give very high marks to the build quality and tactile feel of the camera. It is very comfortable to hold, and feels sturdy.
The photos that I have taken so far are of mediocre quality, tending to be a bit soft, and especially grainy at high ISOs or low light.
One annoyance is the need to use the cradle to transfer data to your computer. Its just another thing to have to cart around while youre traveling.
If you are looking for an ultraportable camera primarily for video at a low price point, this camera does a good job. However, if your primary concern is photo quality, you might look elsewhere. On: 2008-02-09
This a very good camera that seems to take great pictures and great 16x9 video. However, the reason I bought this was because of a great big sticker on the outside of the box that says "MAC USERS - IPHOTO COMPATIBLE!" They even court Mac users on their website. It does work with iPhoto. Most cameras do. However, despite featuring mpeg-4 compression video, it is NOT compatible with iMovie 08. This is because the AUDIO is not supported by Apple. For many of you, this will not be an issue, which is why I still gave the camera 4 stars (I havent used it enough to warrant 5 stars yet). But I have been personally frustrated by the lack of information about which cameras will and will not work with iMovie 08 (because it seems that so few actually do). So I hope this helps for some of you Mac users out there. On: 2008-02-08
This camera has everything they advertise as "cool": Slim, colorful, pretty nice features that you cant fing in some other camera.
I choose this over the 10.1 megapixeles in order to keep it thing (very important for a point &shoot camera).
In the overall is "ok" camera, but there are some things a did not like at all:
The LCD is not as long as they advertise, since a proportion of it is used by the function icons.
You can not made "fixes" over the photos using the camera, instead you have to make ir using the software they provide.
When you go to a party is very common that you will have photos of yourself taken wit your camera for someone else. In this case is very unlikely that the person uses the zoom or any other function of the camera and teh photos may be out of focus or to far. In those cases functions that the one provided for the cybershots camera are appreciated. On: 2008-01-27
This camera has good designe and build. Shutter speed is fast. 100% point and shoot camera. Pictures quality is good. Recommanded for a pocket size camera. On: 2008-01-19
the camera itself is great, small, light, beautiful, etc. But what its not is durable. This camera cracks very easily, as is what happened to mine (not even a year old.) I took it to a large camera repair store, and when I told them I had a casio, they said they couldnt help me. When I asked for an explanation, I was shocked at what I didnt know. Casio doesnt sell parts of their cameras to any other companies. This means that no matter what has happened to your camera (minor scratch on screen, or entire camera is broken in half), if you want to get it fixed, you have to ship it into Casio headquarters. They provide parts, repair it, and ship it back. This takes a few months and costs minimum $200. In all honesty, you are better off getting another camera. I have a Casio with a cracked shutter button, and the only way I can fix it is to pay $250 for a camera that costs $209. On: 2008-01-09
I got this with my Christmas Gift Cards for Best Buy. I chose this over a sony camera that nearly cost the same and it had better features, quality, size, etc. I also went with familiarity. I have always liked Casio Cameras, this is our second one that we have. The other one is my sister and I needed one for my self. I went with this one because it had a little bit more features than the upgraded one from hers. I really like it and have gotten some great photos. I like to dock the camera than take out the batteries. Its also great for videos, after my camcorder died Ive been using the camera for videos and they look great for it to be a camera. I would recommend the camera to anyone who wants a easy camera to use to take high quality pictures.Casio Exilim EX-S880 8.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Anti-Shake Optical Zoom (Red) On: 2008-01-08
I bought this camera strictly to shoot videos. I shopped for harddrive camcorders, but didnt like the bulky size or price tag. No other camera this size or cost offers mpeg-4 video capture. Most competiting cameras use an .avi video file that strings together a series of still photos as frames. This creates a huge file type and inferior quality.
Before buying this camera, I spent 5 days watching video samples online and I must say this cameras video quality can compete with any other brand/model.
Plus, the S880 has a button layout that is simply outstanding. One button snaps a photo while another shoots the video. No need to toggle through menus. I wish Casio would incorporate this into their other camera models - especially the 7x zoom models.
I bought a 8gb Class 6 (fastest speed) SDHC card that gives me over 2 hours of video at the best setting. I couldnt be happier!
p.s. I havent tried the YouTube software because I use Adobe Premiere for my video editing. But the included YouTube software makes the entire video upload process very easy. And you can even edit your videos in the Casio cameras menu. Casio left nothing out.

I had the Kyocera digital camera that I dropped and it never worked right again. Finally, gave up and after reading reviews on Amazon, bought the Casio Exilim. works with ease and gives great snaps. Im no professional photographer..just take family and scene photos and it works great for what my uses are.
Its a much improved product over the Kyocera Finecam that I had. On: 2008-01-01
Great little camera, thin with big picture. Has mounting dock for recharging unlike the 7.2 exilim. On: 2007-12-28
I bought this for my daughter who is a camera person. She didnt have one the size of this and is thrilled to be able to carry it in her purse or pocket. It has all the features of much larger cameras and looks like a winner. On: 2007-12-28
I bought this camera to take on vacation and shot literally hundreds of pictures, both indoors and out, including some videos. I am very pleased with the results.
The camera is nicely designed, easy to use, and has clear and intuitive menus. The outdoor pictures came out crisp and clear(my daughter commented how nice they looked when I emailed some of them). Indoor pictures with a flash were a little grainy, but no more so than with any other digital camera. Outdoor videos were not the same quality as with a video camera, but certainly acceptable enough so that I am not going to start dragging along my video camera. Indoor videos without a light were of course grainy.
The camera has a host of features that you can read about in the manual.
My only minor gripe is that the camera itself does not have a USB port. Instead it is necessary to seat the camera in its charging cradle, which has a USB port. That meant taking the cradle on my trip even though I have a portable battery charger because without the cradle I had no way to download my pictures each day onto my laptop. However, the cradle is not that large or heavy, so it is only a minor gripe.
I recommend putting a screen protector over the screen(I used the same one as for my Palm TX and just trimmed it to size).
In short, the camera looks cool, takes great pictures, is easy to use for a beginner, and has a host of features for a more advanced user. This purchase was a winner. On: 2007-12-25
This camera is amazing.
Pros:
- The build quality of this camera is..amazing. My father just bought a samsung and it was a hung of flimsly plastic, this casio is very sturdy, and has a nice weight to it. It does not feel cheap AT ALL.
- Videos- This is what MAKES this camera. You can take a picture by pressing the shutter release on the top of the camera, or you can take a video by pressing the record button on the back of the camera... like a real video camera. No more switching modes, no more oopsss it is a video, it is perfect.
- Mic. The audio quality of this camera is great too. I sometimes wish i could use it as a sound recorded because it is so clear. The reason it is so clear is because casio was smart and put the mic IN FRONT of the camera. So many other cameras have it on top, where your finger covers it.
- Video Quality- The camera takes video in higher quality than DV cameras. It is not as high as HD, but perfect for a small pocket size camera with video. Of course you can take video as long as your memory lasts.
-Pictures- Pictures are what you expect from a consumer camera with 7mp. Nothing to complain about, nothing to compare it to a pro camera.
-Color- The red is really nice :)
-Battery life- Lasts a long time, never had a problem with it running low during the day.
Cons-
-Video- Like almost ANY video camera that is not professional grade, shooting video in the dark degrades the quality a lot. It is still great for party videos to stick on youtube.
-Screen- For some reason when I take a picture and review it on the screen on the camera, it does not look sharp. Yet when I upload it to the computer it is fine and sharp. (not a big deal)
-Dock- You have to bring the dock with you if you want to upload pics, or recharge the camera. But most people have card readers and just take the card out and put it in the computer.
Overall:
I own a Nikon D100 and a D2h, and man only knows how many of these consumer cameras. This one is hands down the best camera in its catagory. Dont be cheap and try to save $50 by buying a cheaper model, this camera will last you, you will have fun with it, and in the end take a lot of pictures and video. On: 2007-12-22
Most reviews say the pictures are soft..... I think these reviewers are blind, the pictures are even better then on my sony t70,the battery last forever and is simple to use, my Sony dies after a couple days and a few pics, this stay fully charged.
This is my 3rd casio, I always buy the latest and greatest Sony, then always go back to my Casio..... On: 2007-12-20
Awesome awesome awesome! Any picture you see of this camera does not do it justice. It is great looking and very functional! I purchased this as a gift for my girl friend for Christmas from 6th Avenue Electronics. It arrived fast and it was in perfect condition. I pulled it out to check for ANY impurities couldnt find ONE! I would definitely encourage any one looking for a compact, attractive, fun, easy to use point & shoot camera to pick this one up! You wont be disappointed! I promise! On: 2007-10-20
Casio Exilim EX-S880 8.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Anti-Shake Optical Zoom (Red)
As a professional photographer I am often in need of a very small and dependable camera that I can use in informal and crowd situations.
Since we also were interested in adding some YouTube type material to our portfolio without having to drag around our more expensive video equipment we purchased the Casio Exilim EX-S880 8.1MP Digital Camera to see if the camera could perform to our needs and expectations.
Right out of the box we saw advantages to the design and the quality. We have not been disappointed in the photos or the video. The controls are conveniently and intuitively located. The instructions clear. The photographs surpass the expectations we had. The video quality is certainly as good, if not better, than we expected.
We would recommend this camera for the casual family photographer or for the professional interested in expanding their equipment options. We also recommend you go with the 4 GB SD memory card.
