My parents bought this for my 9-year old in January for his birthday from Target - he used it sparingly for about 4 months, and the battery seemed to start holding less and less of a charge. Then it completely died. Ive looked online and it appears that this is a common problem from the consumer comments I found. And Audiovox does not even list this model on their site, or offer any easy info on how to resolve consumer issues with this product. So its past Targets 90-day return window, and Im stuck with a piece of junk...I have owned another Audiovox portable dvd player (model D1708) for about 3 years now, and it has always worked perfectly (although Ive seen some other reviewers that have had issues with this model too). If anyone has any tips on how to resolve this with Audiovox, please let me know. On: 2008-04-10
Bought 2 of these in November, didnt give them to the kids until Christmas. In February, one stopped charging, but would still play when plugged in. In April, the second stopped charging. Looked and looked for battery replacement, but none found. Anyone else have this problem with this unit? On: 2008-03-30
I have been shopping for a portable DVD player for quite some time and was thrilled to find such quality in my price range. The volume could have a little more range but since I mainly use it at my desk its not a problem. The picture is great, its simple to use and I love it. On: 2008-03-05
I also purchased this at Target for $78. It worked for 3 hours and then simply died. Im returning it tomorrow. On: 2008-02-23
We purchased this new at Target this week for $78. Tried it out for our small child who likes to watch her own DVDs. From what I can see, this works very well for the low price. The 10inch screen is a nice size for personal viewing. Would recommed this to anyone. Would easily pay more for it.
