The concept for this product is good, but its execution leaves enough to be desired so that it does not justify its high price. Just a few of the most important problems:
(1) the device and controls are a bit too small - the UI screen for displaying status and other information is difficult to see and the control buttons on the front of the device are so small that it is difficult at times to make certain that the correct one is activated or that the intended function is operated. I suggest an increase in size in the overall device and display of at least 25%.;
(2) the device itself is made of plastic and has a cheap feel to it - I suggest incorporating metal into the case for sturdiness and better feel. Increasing the weight slightly would help and make the device less likely to be lost;
(3) the USB connection does not properly engage on some computers because the ridge around the bottom of the device prevents the USB connection from fully coupling to the USB port on some computers - this means that the cable must be used and reduces the value of the device a small amount because now one must remember to take the cable when using the device if documents are to be exchanged. I suggest lengthening the amount the USB plug extends from the device case.
Because of these problems, I can only give it an average rating.

I investigate potential insurance fraud and use the Olympus WS-321M to record interviews of claimants and witnesses. This is an excellent product - it does a great job of capturing voices while minimizing background noises. Transfer onto the computer and eventually onto a CD could not be easier.

I ordered the Olympus WS-321 for two reasons: one as a Mac owner I wanted a voice recorder that would easily interface with my Mac. The Olympus WS-321 does that just fine and I can also download the files to my PC. Reason 2: its size. I use it to record my singing at our chorus rehearsals - the Olympus WS-321 slips into my back pocket; dont need audio tapes. I then email the MP3 file to my section leader for her to review after Ive reviewed it myself. Ive used the Olympus WS-321 for about a month now. Its doing just what I purchased it for.

First off, thank you Amazon.com for making purchasing goods online easier than ever. I received the the package earlier than the delivery estimated day.
Second, I like this WS-321M so much since its light,easy connect to my computer via the USB port. The sound recorded in HQ mode is extremly good. My classmate has a Sony recorder and when I made a comparision to the WS-321M, I think I had made a right choice for paying for it. As I am a college student, the 1GB memory of the WS-321M is suited me as well. Only 1 thing Im not please about WS-321M, battery life is short cause it uses only 1AAA bat.

For the day Ive had it, some things Ive noticed...
+ Works fine and reliable so far
+ You can plug it directly into a usb drive, but it also comes with a extension usb cable in case fitting the machine in wont be an option
- Speakers not the best, but workable
- Should becareful of which recording sensitivity on the mic youre using as your recording could have a dizzying effect jumping from back to right.
- Could have included software to better transfer file. The manual tells you to go online, but does not have a comprehensive program to use

Its easy to use, and the quality of recorded file is really good. Even I only use HQ level to record, the voice file sounds like my real talking without distortion.

Olympus WS321M Digital Voice Recorder and MP3 Player + Accessory Kit - Excellent product. Stereo recording is flawless and simple. Playback with headphones is awesome with either recorded items or MP3/WMA files in music mode. Mass storage has been perfect with absolutey no problems. I have used this unit every day for well over a month and half recording meetings with it in my pocket, transfering files from work to home and using as an MP3 player. I am now thinking I am going to get the 2gb model (WS-331M), I think the extra 1gb of storage is worth it.

I love this little recorder. I have had it about 4 weeks now, and it has been great. I was surprised at how good the built in microphone is and how well it picks up voices from recording a dictation to recording a lecture in a big hall. As expected, the built in speaker is not all that great, but once you plug in the ear phones, the sound is great.
It has a lot of good features, but you can read about them in the specs.
I would buy it again.
