I would like to write a review of the Magellan, Maestro 3140 unit, but since it hasnt arrived yet (waiting one month so far) I cant. But, I would like to tell you my experience with Magellan (the company)... because no matter how good the product is, if it ever has problems, you want a company that will back it up.
Two months ago, I sent my Magellan 3000T in for the second time, in 8 months, to get repaired after it froze up on me while traveling in a different state. Both times I had to rent a GPS.
The first time I sent the unit in... it was returned to me fixed in an OK amount of time. It didnt arrive when promised, but it did arrive.
This last time that I sent it in, I was told that it would arrive within 14 days. Great!... I thought. Well, it has now been over two months since they received it for repair, there have been numerous promises of " just 7 more days" and countless lies told to me that I am starting to loose patience with them. In fact, I will never purchase anything from Magellan again.
I thought I was alone, but in doing a search online for other reviews, I came across others who have had the same experience as I have had.
The units are great! I would take a Magellan over any of the other units that I have had to rent while waiting for mine to be returned... but with such terrible customer service (none at all), I would never recommend Magellan to anybody. And, if I ever do get my GPS back from them and when it does stop working again... I will be buying another unit from a different company. I would suggest that anyone looking for a GPS... look at reviews online to see who has good follow up. These units will break down (thats a given) but Magellan is not a company that cares about their customers (in my opinion).
